the AWD trans can be converted to FWD easily, I was in the process of doing just that, but an oversight of me lead to me damaging the casing of the trans, but is easy to do, there are a few write ups on MR2 websites about doing it, you'll need an MR2 diff ( LSD preferred ) and a cover for where the trasnfer case bolts to the trans, that's it.

search for the write ups on how to do this, and BE patient, it seriously is not hard, I just rushed through it and damage my housing. n00b mistake, but oh well.

BTW the MR2 trans is the same ( internally as the caldina or ST205 celica trans. so as long as you put an LSD idff in there, is like having an MR2 trans, but newer.

I know of 2 doors in NJ, but I will not ship them and I'm sure hte seller won't wanna deal with Shipping either, so if you are planning to come pick them up, I'll put you in contact with him.

The doors are Silver from a Celica 1994 GT

you have mainly 3 types of LSDs
Hellical
Viscous ( vLSD )
Clutch type

Hellical LSD
is a gear LSD

power is transfer to both wheels by the gears, one draw back of Helical LSDs is that both wheels have to has some resistance ( touching the ground ) for the LSD to distribute the power, if one wheel is in the air or on ice, the gears will spin the wheel with no toruqe twice as fast, this is the reason why hellical LSDs are also refer to as Torsen ( torque Sensitive ) RWD drivers overcome this by applying the eBrake when one wheel looses traction, the brakes will act as a resistance on the wheel with no traction, splitting the power back to 50 / 50. Hellical LSDs can be aggressive as with a sudden torque application to one wheel the other will grab instantly.

Viscous LSDs

they are sealed units, that contain a silicone fluid in it, along with LSD couplin ( metal ), as one wheel spins at a different ratio in relation to the other, the different in speeds will generate friction and thus heat, once the silicone gets hot it will expenad moving the LSD couplin together and thus sending the power to both wheels to bring them to the same speed.

Viscous LSDs are maintance free, and the only thing to worry about when using them is not to get them overheated, overheating will destroy ( change the properties ) the silicone and the LSD will not work, so system will act as a regular open diff from that point and on. Most manufacturers prefer vLSD in FWD application because of the smoothness with which the power gets transfer.

Clutch type,

name says it all, it has clutches inside it, thsi LSDs are very high maintance, under real racing they need to be rebuilt after each race or so, they can come in different ways like 1.5 and 2 way
this clutches are not intented to be installed on FWD cars, they are aggresive,

Note, I wrote this right before taking my lunch so I'm hungry and have not much time, there may be spelling errors or some information crossed out lol, but I'll revise it later or if you guys feel something is not right, corect me.

BEAMS did not come with e153, that has been discuss on this same topic earlier and prove has been shwon that it in fact came with s54.

and yes, the MR-S LSD will work in a S54, they are easily available on eBay and cheap to get in UK as all MR-S had LSDs ( hellical BTW )

Freedy tell your GF she's more than welcome to come, there are other girls coming so she won't be the only one, and the meet is to hang out, not to take cars apart and learn about mechanics lol.

We compare and discuss each other setups and plans but mainly we have fun, food, drinks, music all that good stuff.

if you have a cheaply made downpipe with low quality steel, ceramic coating will accelerate aging on it, coating the inside and outside is the way to do it properly, if you coat only the outside, the metal is expose to higher temperatures because it will not be able to radiate the heat as well as uncoated, when you coat the inside it keeps some of the heat from getting into the metal in first place thus keeping gases at higher temperature and moving faster.

I think you'd only need one per side, that's why one is marked as RH ( right Hand ) but I posted both in a rush, I was at work and they seem to go together by the image

radiator go cheap (OEM replacement will do the job ), BOV you need a quality one.

and for the record, I have a F1 racing clutch disc mated to a ACT heavy duty pressure plate and I've been beating the crap out of it for a month now ( after broken in ) and it's a great clutch so far, the ACT heavy duty pressure plate is.. well, not the best for big traffic jams ( first hand experience, or first leg ? )
mine is a Stage 3 disc, and mated to teh Act PP, they rated capable of handling 499 lbs/tq

for a budget minded BOV go with a 3sgte stock one, they are cheap !

we haven't done this in some time, I think we should start this up again, this is the first time I try to organize this so be patient lol.

nnot much to this, I'll post an exact meet spot, and time ( aiming for 2 PM ) the usual meet and greet, then we'll go for a cruise along Old Mine Road

Old mine road history here !!

after the cruise we'll stop for food and hang out.

date Sept 18th
place Delaware water gap New Jersey side ( actual meeting addresss will be posted once I decide on a few options I have right now )

Anyone is welcome to come, we wanna see as many celicas as possible but if for some reason the celica can't make it ride a bicicle, scooter, anything.

Let's see who's in on this !!!!

I can just open the transmission, take the LSD out of it and sell that alone for more than thatn and take the left over metal parts and get ice cream money from the recycling place.

if it doesn't sell for decent cash, I'll keep it and rebuild it to keep as spare.

Thanks for the offer

as long as the year of the transmission from the camry matches the year of the transmission on the GT4 it will be bolt on affair, actually you don't even need to remove the transmission from the car since the 5th gear can be access by removing the.. 5th gear cover .. the small cover at the end of the transmission on the left side.

complications ? if done correctly none, I would advise to replace the gear synchro at the same time.

if you do remove the transmission and want to have a newer transmission all around, you can open the ST205 transmission and use a Camry v6 ( the newer the better )

if you use the camry transmission ( V6 manual ) you need the differential from teh ST025 transmission in the camry transmission and bolt on the transfer case to make it AWD, this will give you slightly longer gears rather than just 5th gear, all gears are either euqal or longer, I knwo for a fact 3rd gear is longer and so is 5th gear, the top speed on standard tires of this transmission is ~ 167 MPH, some MR2's have achieved ~ 180 with larger tires.

order one set of camber bolts, and front and rear end links, if you really want to go deep on your suspension, do your ball joints, tie rod ends and strut mounts as well.

he needs something to tune the fuel with if he really wants to fix that, and even then depending on the capabilities of his option, he may still have little burps and what not, the better the tuning the better the engine will run.

I'm surprised he didn't have this same issues with the previous turbo, but a twin entry turbo is a lot more efficient than the single entry ct26, so maybe that's why the issue is pronounced enough for him to notice it.
