They are worth the money, a lot of valuable info can be gathered from them!

FINALLY THE WAIT IS OVER!!

After work I got the best package of the week. The custom adapter had arrived. I hurried down to the garage and got right to work. After draining the intercooler coolant i changed my plugs to the correct gaped plugs. Once completed, I switched my attention to making the final measurements to cut the intercooler. After mocking it up I marked the intercooler and taped off the inside to prevent any metal shavings from getting into the intercooler and proceeded to cut to my measurement. One problem I ran into was my rubber hose was the wrong size. I got a 2 3/4 when the adapter is 2 1/2. I then decided to take a piece of 2 1/2 hose and slip in in between the adapter and 2 3/4 rubber hose. After sorting that little set back up, i moved on to drilling and tapping the adapter. Although it took some time and choice words I installed the injector with some high temp thread sealant and tested it via the AEM controller to make sure the line was purged. Prior to installing the injector i had the intention of having the adapter either painted or coated, after a bit of thought i opted for some thermal tape (because hot engine bay yo!) Once done testing and purging the system I went into final install mode, double checking all my vacuum lines and bolts. With everything being up to my standards I started the car and checked for vacuum leaks, or anything out of place. I highly recommend the ABA clamps I was recommended. They are the unsung hero of this project. After a brief look over I took her out on the streets, My first impression was a huge smile and laughs. My small town has switched from 93 octane to a dismal 91 causing the gt4 to suffer from major hesitation and bucking issues at 4k rpm. I can happily report that it is completely gone and now pulls smooth and strong all the way to 7k RPM.

I would like to give a shout out to Enderswift for helping me through this. Although our systems are different I was given some valuable info and tips!

Three layers of tape and roughly a half hour of the project was spent on this. It was crucial not to get any metal into the intercooler.

Used tape to make sure my cut was even all the way around.

Thermal layer applied and ready for the injector

For when the meth goes places you dont want biggrin.gif

LARGE UPDATE! 7/7/16

Back at it again, well... only for a little bit longer. I am getting close to closing on my first house! Apart from that, Ive been very busy working on the four starting with the subframe. When the car was purchased it had a hack job weld done near the passenger side front control arm. Along with the alignment being off, safety was the main driving force behind a replacement. After scoring one of the forums I made quick work of sanding and putting a fresh coat of paint on. While replacing I decided it would be smart to replace the old and rotten crush tubes. I initially thought this would be a big job but my ex-workplace (toyota dealership) made quick work of it with my help. I can report back and say the car feels amazing with a proper alignment! No less than a few days later I pulled the trigger on a set of polly shift bushings. Yes I caught some flack and debated pulling them back off due to the possibility of harming the syncros. After 5 emails to two companies who make poly and metal shift bushings I was reasured that the wear of the syncros wouldn't be caused by installing bushings like this. I chose to email two reputable companies who i hadn't ever bought from and made it clear to them I only wanted there opinion, not a sale. The next order of business came with a bit of frustration to me, I adored my boost controller... But it went faulty on what I thought was the most important day with my celica. THE DYNO DAY.... Yes, the day before my EBC went out of calibration and would not hold boost. Spiking to 17lbs then immediately dropping to 10-12lbs. I was gutted to say the least, but i went to the session because the wait was over a month to get in. Once strapped down I made a horrible 230hp and a strange but impressive 264tq. I immediately decided to rip out the EBC and order a used HKS EVC 5. Once installed I was rewarded with a massive difference in power, the car pulled in ways it never had before. To my luck Beyond Redline had a dyno day the next weekend with special rates, but I had one last hat trick up my sleeve to make this dyno day special... ELECTRIC CUT OUT!! I went with a QTP 3in cutout right after the flex pipe. Making sure the boost was where I wanted and the cut out open it was strapped down and unleashed. With 90 degrees as the ambient temp it managed to pump out 280hp and 280tq at the wheels! Buttttt... my excitement was short lived. A few days later the car stopped building boost, my heart sank and I became nervous and expected the worst. To my amazement it was pretty bad in it own special way haha, the bov and mount completely blew off. Once again my luck was on my side, having a family member being the lead welder of aluminum for the united states navy in my home town. Once fixed I was gifted with boost, but I learned that it must have been a boost leak because a spool/hissing noise went away. After all this excitement I decided to buy a new solid rubber front engine mount and a stoney silicone intake hose due to mine being cracked. Overall the car in running and driving phenomenally! I look forward to hitting the dyno and getting to a track soon to get some real numbers from a true icon!!

MORE PICS TO COME!!

Mid subframe removal

The first dyno day, was nice to having a live feed to watch. I did get to be right next to the car during the pulls.

Finished product, after I painted the exhaust a stealthy black hehe (yes it does hang level with the frame rail. 4in of ground clearance, same as the front midpipe.

Poly shift bushings

That AFR... PIG RICH (previous run had better torque, heat soak was getting to it)

KAAABOOOOOM!!

So it made 280 at the wheels with a boost leak? Will be exciting to do another dyno run knowing that's been fixed.

I cant say for sure that there was a boost leak or not, but judging my the sound difference I would say I'm 99% sure it was fractured at the base and finally let go in spectacular fashion!

First thing I say when I see those kinda things is "would you just look at that!" Really look at it

Nice work sir!

Hmm the satisfaction of knowing everything has to be custom for 6gc. Maybe thats why all Toyota n enthusiast alike envy us. Saying well he took his time and has a nice Celica, but I won't acknowledge his hard effort. While mine was just all bolt on. Pffft pshh..

Yes, it was pretty basic. Pull the mount and I decided to cut the rubber out with side cutters and then torch the remainder till it was soft. Take a drill with a wire wheel and sand up the remainder of the rubber. new ones slide right on in! So far I highly recommend them, they are wonderful!

I'm not sure why I'm just now reading all this!

How are you liking your shifter bushings?? I just took a look at mine and the top one is definitely oval (which hopefully explains my sloppy and sometimes stuck shifts 2nd into 3rd and 4th into 5th).

Also, did you order your engine poly mounts from BRD? If so, did he give you a good deal since you installed them in the housing yourself? These are all things I am doing very soon, along with suspension (just waiting until I find a solid dd so I can rip into the four and not be rushed).

As always, keep up the good work!
