I have a 94 st with the 7afe engine, it had a problem that it died amd would not crank or turn over
I had the distributor replaced and now it starts and runs
The problem is that now when it gets to operating temperature, it looses lots of power and will not accelerate past 2krpm
Any idea what it could be?
I would like to fix it myself because I am a bit tight on money at the moment
The shop said it could be a clogged cat converter, so I disconnected it and it would still not go past 2krpm when at operating temperature

Did you check the spark timing?

So it's completely fine up to operating temperature? It was also completely fine at all times before the distributor died? If all that is so, I'd lean towards the distributor being out of time. On these you have to put the car into a special mode before setting the timing by jumping TE1 and E1 terminals in the diagnostic port, otherwise the computer will reset the timing where it thinks it should be.

It was running well up until the distributor died
The shop that replaced it said that they checked the timing after replacing it
When i start it up cold, it will run perfectly fine up until it gets to operating temperature

The aftermarket distributors are plagued with problems when they're hot, most fail in some way or another. https://www.toyotanation.com/forum/130-coro...ult-issues.html
