6G Celicas Forums _ My Project _ My 6GC

Posted by: CelicaZR Aug 27, 2005 - 10:36 AM

Hi 6gcers
I think it is about time I introduce myself smile.gif
I've been on here for a while now, but havent
got the courage to do this.
I regularly visit this site at least 5 times a day tongue.gif
I've had my Celica since Jan 2004.
As most of you can tell I'm from Sydney Australia.

So here are some photos of my pride and joy.
Enjoy.

I brought the car stock.
Mods I've done:
- K&N Panel Filter
- JSpeed Front Brace
- JIC Lower Arm Bar
- Cusco Rear Strut Brace
- JDM Tail Lights
- Clear side Indicators
- TV Screen & PS2
I think that is about it.

Future Mods:
I've order a bodykit waiting for it to arrive.
I wont tell you what it is, gonna be a surprise tongue.gif
I'm gonna get JDM projectors as well to match my tails.
Lightweight wheels, Tein Springs or coilovers, and maybe
a CF bonnet. I'm still not sure how it will look on a black car.

That is it for now, I'll keep you guys post on the progress wink.gif

The JSpeed Front Brace & JIC Lower arm bar together
really stiffen the end front end. I love it.
The Cusco rear Strut Brace reduce body roll in the rear.
So overall I do notice a difference.
I hope that answer your questions.
I'll get pics of the JSpeed Front Strut brace & JIC Lower

Ive got the JSpeed ladder brace on my GT4, makes a nice difference although the '4 has front and rear upper braces as stock so is pretty tight anyway.
Keep up the good work it'll pay you back.

But when it arrived it was a different stories frown.gif
But it doesnt matter, cause I'm gonna swap it over.
I'm just hoping that the mirrors work or otherwise
I'll be pissed off.
I should have it installed by next weekend hopefully.
Can't wait! I'll keep you updated, might get a clip of it
working smile.gif

Posted by: CoSo Oct 29, 2005 - 11:03 AM

That sucks mate, at least it'll be good in the end.

You should wire it to the starter ignition or something to make it retract when the engine's off and extend when it's on, or something. wink.gif That'd be sweet

I was thinking of something like that.
But I think I'm gonna wire it to my new alarm later.
So when it is arm, the windows, sunroof will close and mirrors will fold.
When it's unlock the mirrors will pop back out.

nothin personal, I just hate body kits period, especially on our cars. Right now your car is so sexy looking and then you have this GIGANTIC gaudy looking body kit when there's more subtle, stylish options. Just my opinion though.

I can't remember, any suspension work done to the car, or plans of lowering or different wheels? Doing the work yourself?

And I do love the headlights, I wish I could afford them

Posted by: CelicaZR Dec 30, 2005 - 2:14 AM

Thanks CelicaGT04
Thanks Vin, Sorry man I want to keep the oem skirts for later on. just in case.

blu94gt: No offence taken smile.gif We all have different and thats why we all have different opinions.
I've done strut brace (front and back) and lower arm bar. The latest handling mod I've done was
some new Falken Azenis RT215 tires, very very sticky tires biggrin.gif I believe they are better than the
strut brace.

i just have a couple things to say
1 DAMN your car is HOTT
2 I love your license plate # ND4 5PD if i got a custom plate i would want it on a lifted truck that says 3M TA3 that way in the rear view it says EAT ME
3 when are you going to put on the 2 poster with the risers? i think that would be the finishing touch.
4 and lastly. I am so jealous of all you aussies! you have all the sweet cars from the ZR to the GT4. whilst all we americans only have the GT.
very nice job on the car and on getting the 6GC some representation.

Not much has really happened, cause I just brought a motorbike to add to my collection of vehicles laugh.gif
I guess that explains the late of mods lately laugh.gif
The latest mod I think is the HID (GT-HID 6000K). I love them. Love the pure white light it gives out. biggrin.gif
Will post a pic of them on soon.
Still trying to find a nice set of Teins to lower it, but having no luck.

Latest Update:

I've just got a new car alarm installed smile.gif
After hearing alot of stories about car being stolen or broken into,
I decided it was time to upgrade from the factory alarm.

It has all the security features an alarm can have (3 point immobiliser, sensors, etc).
But I've got the alarm guy to add some special features to it like window lifters, mirror fold-in and sunroof closure biggrin.gif

We activated the turbo timer feature on the alarm to allow the car to run for a minute after the key in taken out of the ignition.
This allow the window lifters, mirrors fold-in and sunroof closure to work, without putting stress on the circuit /battery.
The sunroof closure was probably the hardest thing to wire up and get working properly because of how its stop halfway.
The mirrors fold-in when the car is armed and open out when disarmed.

Enjoy

100000km, that is a brand new car you got (mines heading for 230000km)! I like what you've done with the car, looks pretty sweet. Unlike some others, I think the 3 posts spoiler looks good on your car. I couldn't say why but, it fits better on black 6gc than on any other color.

Was the SX a 1.8L or just another version on the 2.2L? Or was it bigger? tongue.gif Oh, and just as an info, when you changed the dashboard lights, was it just like plug'n'play with some kind of LEDs?

Keep on the good work.

Posted by: CelicaZR Dec 21, 2010 - 5:46 PM

Thanks trebilihp smile.gif
Car still drives very well smile.gif I babied it smile.gif
Yea I dont mind the 3 post spoiler. I guess thats why I havent changed it yet ( I do have a 2 post sitting at home)

SX has the same motor, just less features - its the base model.

For the dashboard lights I use a brand call Polarg. The are not LEDs smile.gif

Cool, I'd like to change the gauge's lights too, cause mine (are actually light green fading away..) And I'd like to get some withe ones, that would make the needles shine like yours! I'll check for those bulbs. How much bulbs do we need to fully replace them?

It's quite funny for the SX model, cause I got an ST, and it came with the crappy 1.8L, but fully equiped... Anyways, I'm still happy with the power kit, even if the engine is a little cowy.

The alarms and its features are very cool smile.gif PIA for the installer tongue.gif

I've still got the 6GC, its just sitting in the garage under a cover smile.gif I've gone back in time and started restoring 1GC laugh.gif
It wont be going anywhere. Still fall in love with it everytime i open the garage door smile.gif
Not much has happened since the last update i think. Next time I wash it I'll take some more photos.

I think I still have those pics on the HDD somewhere.
If I have time I'll put some of them back up again.
Enjoy your 6GC. Hope you'll stick around for a long time smile.gif

Hmmm... PITA for installers probably means I won't be able to afford it for a while tongue.gif But I plan to be sticking around for a few years at least smile.gif

Its funny you say that, because just after I got my 6GC, one of my best mates just started saving up to get a 1GC to play with tongue.gif

Good to see you haven't forgotten about yours smile.gif

Josh smile.gif

P.S. Have you reverted to a stock front bumper with the front lip/skirts on the sides at the front? Or does the body kit just look deceiving on the side in those last pics?

I am also in Australia with a '97 ZR Celica. Those sideskirts from the original photos are standard on all post-facelift ZR Celicas in Australia, and were an optional extra on the other models. I believe they are exactly the same as the SSIII side skirts.

I was meaning since you were last being bugged to install the spoiler tongue.gif

http://page6.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f138871159

I just came across those in Japan... they will need to be rebuilt so they'll probably cost the same as a new set of BC's.... but they're TEIN tongue.gif

There is also a C-One spoiler for sale in Japan at the moment (in black). Shipping is expensive on spoilers, but I think that style may compliment your Varis kit well smile.gif The GT4 and TRD ones would too though.

Nah, they very rarely come up at all (Maybe one set a month that I see), and they always have faults listed (mainly just 'slow rebound' like this one). Sometimes they are up for twice this amount though.

Hey CelicaZR,

Welcome back mate! I have only had my 6GC for just over a year now but to see that you still love your one after 9 years is awesome. I am also located in Sydney along with "rentaspace". We have had a few meet ups within the last month so we should meet up for a cruise in the near future. Would love to see the mods you have on your car especially a black one biggrin.gif. Gives me something to look forward too!

How about us 6GCers sydney siders get together for the Classic Celica Appreciation Day smile.gif

Classic Celica Appreciation Day
Sunday 24th of May 2015

Toymods 8th Annual Classic Celica Appreciation day is a great family day out in a relaxing environment with a good BBQ and some wicked Celica's to admire. As we have done in previous years, we will be allowing all generations of Celica into the park facing off the classics against the late models.

Everyone is welcome, you don't need to own or even want a Classic Celica to be part of the day but if you own one, and you don't come, you need a slap in the back of the head !

If you own a Classic Celica (running or not) or just wish you did then the Classic Celica Appreciation day is the one day of the year to make sure your available.

From the Sydney meet point we will cruise out to Wisemans Ferry and The Celica's will move into the park itself for some group shots and all others in attendance are encouraged to make the most of the great location and get some great pics in the park as well. There are some fantastic photo opportunities in the grounds for all so bring your cameras.

The Central Coast/Newcastle and Canberra guys & gals will of course meet up at their own respective meeting points and cruise up to Sydney, meeting us at either The Ettamogah Pub or at Wisemans Ferry.
The Wisemans Ferry destination is aimed at providing a suitable location (distance traveling wise) for both the Newcastle and Canberra crowd and we look forward to trying to break our Classic Celica attendance record.
For the Central Coast Newy & Canberra Guys please let me know of your meet points and I'll post them below.

So Bring your Family, your CB if you have one, a full tank of fuel, money for the BBQ and something to sit on !!

Details are as follows:

Sydney Group
Time: 11:00am for a 11:30am Leave
Meeting point: Ettamogah Pub
Corner of Windsor Road and Merriville Rd Kellyville Ridge
Destination: Wisemans Ferry
