I need a second car to change things up, but with two of them in consideration being the SW20 and Z32 300ZX as if I need another car with a cluster**** engine bay. That's ok for what it'd cost to get a decent example I can do all the expensive suspension parts on the Firebird I want to do, hmm...

No multiple cars, it's a fun but expensive life.

It's not so bad as long as you don't **** around with the DD too much outside routine stuff. Granted I've done a bunch to my Mazda none of it has been crazy expensive. $ound$y$tem, front brake Swap, wheel$/tire$, maintenance/upkeep, light$ and LED'$ and $tuff.

The Deuce has leaned out considerably, and as of today it's registered and insured so I took it out for a couple of miles. So far, so good. One small coolant leak but that's it. I've also learned that I should go into painless dent repair. This didn't hurt at all!

Good as new! tongue.gif

I was just wanting a second car to round out the RWD driving experience and have both ends of the spectrum covered, something smaller with independent rear suspension and Japanese. That and I do really want to try a SW20 MR2 and Z32 300ZX.

So what was the cause of the stumbling and rich issue?

Beats me. Air in the cooling system, probably. It has gone away on its own. I'm going to treat it as "screw it, it's running just fine" and give it back to its owner.

Lets all agree to blame the bosch plugs and fouled up O2 sensor.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0091II8X...=UTF8&psc=1 Bought one of those to try out.

Also this came the other day, haven't used it yet.
https://www.amazon.com/Phoenix-Systems-4001...r/dp/B00E6TXWV0 Paid less than that price though. Supposed to be good on bleeders and generally stuck bolts that tend to break, hopefully it works as advertised.

Stupid Bosch plugs ruining everything.

85% proven effective on the bleeder remover, at least they're honest I guess. tongue.gif The contaminant remover looks interesting though, I had thought about trying one of the Chemical Guy's clay blocks. Actually I need to win the lottery so I can spend a small fortune having it resprayed in Midnight Purple II or Reflex Purple, can only do so much with 20 year old paint surprisingly enough.

It's officially official, the Deuce made its first trip today. Only a 5 mile trip so 10 miles total, but it made it with no issues. No issues in the motor or drivetrain, and it happily cruised at 60 on the highway. I found and fixed the small coolant leak, coolant temp gauge is now properly functioning, tach still sucks but apparently the capacitors go bad on the board so I won't worry about that. Right now it's down to brakes and some unknown issue in the rear suspension.

No post is complete without pictures!

What's the rear suspension doing? Or not doing?

It's pushing the rear of the car side to side under braking. Feels similar to a trailer swaying, or somewhat similar to the way a flat rear tire will push the rear of the car sideways, but it's swaying side to side. Tomorrow I'll get the air conditioner converted to R134a and recharged, and start diagnosing the rear end. It's only wiggling under braking, but I'm not thinking it's brake related.

Might be a bad strut, they do weird stuff when only one is really bad and the other is OK-ish. Other thing could be bad lateral arm bushing allowing excessive toe in or out under braking. Assuming it's just not one side brake that isn't working, that'll make it feel rather interesting in the rear! Time to bust out the temp gun and check rotor temps after a few hard stops.

MR2 looks pretty decent from that angle covered in water, you must be a used car salesman. tongue.gif

yeah i'd say check the side that got hit. if the body and tire were fighting each other then might be more damage than just that.

The more I drive it, the more I think it's just old tires with soft sidewalls. I think the suspension is sound. Old, but in good functioning condition. Brakes are getting better each time I drive it. I've also learned that I need an MR2 in my life.

A 1MZ swapped MR2 would be lots of fun. Biggest issue with them and the Z32 300ZX is the same issue you run into with F-bodies, finding one without T-tops... cwm13.gif I still want to know what Nissan and Toyota were thinking.

Yea, a 1MZ MR2 does sound fun, but so does a 2ZZ swapped MK3.
