Nothing beats the 2gr into an mr2.
If you've got the $, it's well worth it. -------------------- |

I dunno, part of the appeal of the 2ZZ MK3 is that it's a simple straight forward swap with little if any custom work beyond exhaust.

I'm actually quite pleased with the 5S in the MR2. That's not to say I wouldn't prefer more power, but for right now, getting to drive the car around, getting familiar with it, the 5S is just right. This particular MR2 isn't worth the cash for a 2GR, or even a 2nd gen 3S-GTE. With any luck, I'll get to borrow it and do some autocross events and learn how to drive a mid engine car, and later down the road I'll pick up an MR2 that is a little cleaner than this one. I still wouldn't mind this one as a dedicated toy though.

I still don't know why Toyota didn't put the 2ZZ into the MR2-S from the factory. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

The hard tops aren't terribly rare, just expensive but worth it.

I remember looking at one point, at any rate they're harder to find than a Miata one but that's to be expected seeing how long the Miata top was made in comparison. Then again it's probably easier to find a MR2-S and a hardtop than a hardtop SW20 MR2.

Wooo parts, and the green does look better. I need to start keeping an eye out on my local yard for some '98-02 F-bodies to yank the front spindles and calipers off of.

Should of told me I would of looked for you. And yeah I really like the green. It even has fading clear coat so it matches perfectly with the rest of my paint -------------------- |

Thanks, I wouldn't have felt right asking but now I know. I was wondering how the scoop and vents would look in the lower body colour, but it'd probably be too much.
I can't decide if I want those CandlePower bulbs are not. Well I do, but technically the E-codes aren't street legal as it is and I don't want them to be so bright they draw the wrong kind of attention. Then again lots of trucks and cars with eBay 10K HIDs in their reflector housings they don't seem to care about, but with mine being popup it's kind of obvious they should suck. Maybe I'm just being paranoid. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

I prefer the scope green the silver bottom color would be too much the only thing I don't like about my scoop is that it's not functional but one day it will be. And eh go for it as long as they aren't to terribly bright. I'm pretty sure the lights in my celica aren't legal but whatever. -------------------- |

Make a custom air intake that puts a panel filter under the scoop like the SS LT1 Camaros:
They're only 50% brighter give or take than the plain 60W/55W H4 bulbs, low beams still have a shield over the filament so it shouldn't glare. That and they'll be properly aimed with good cutoff, so one would think 1,500 lumens in low-mid 3K colour temperature wouldn't bother anyone. I guess I'll go ahead and buy them so they can get here sometime next week. Will be nice to see during Winter. There ordered. Guess I know what I'll be doing sometime next week. I did get to take it around the block today was nice to drive again even if only for a bit. Can't wait for November so I drive fully This post has been edited by 1994Celica: Sep 17, 2016 - 11:08 PM -------------------- |

Because racecar? I know what you mean though, it's why I'm stopping at intake and exhaust as far as power adders go since the LT1 and T-56 are reliable when properly treated and maintained. It gets me from A to B comfortably while getting pretty good mpg, that and it's useful as a car since there's no stupid T-top tray taking up my storage space and the rear seats fold over or can seat actual adults if need be. It's been a better car than I even gave it credit for at first, I've actually have been impressed stupid dashboard aside.
I think it'll be even more fun once you get to do a WRX STi swap, kind of have the sleeper vibe going for it. I'd still like to get ahold of a 2.5RS coupe one of these days along with the list of other cars I still want to try. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Yep I can't wait I start really building it but I need to finish a couple things on the celi first then the 914. After that then I can. My brothers working on an Impreza coupe that he's wanting to do the same with. I really can't wait till he finishes that. -------------------- |

Bought a relay harness for the Celica high beams because MAX LUMENS. The HID lamps have wimpier high beams than the Halogen lamps so I'm going to try to wring out every last little bit of light from them that I can.

MOAR LUMENS! The high beams are 9005 right? If so could looking into using 9011 HIR bulbs.
So I've been trying to think of something to make the dash look better outside of replacing it or throwing a mat over it, meh I'll think of something. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Put a merkin on it!
I have 9011 bulbs, the Philips version. I have a set of the Toshiba ones on my shelf here with low hours I'm going to test out too with and without the harness to see which gets me the brightest light output. The HID housings just don't have the same amount of reflector area for the high beam since the low beam projector is larger. They're not bad high beams they just lost some of their reach compared to what I was used to, so I'm looking to get a little of that back by boosting the output some. For all I know all it'll do is make the signs glare back at me worse. -------------------- |
