Hi everyone,

I have a 1995 Toyota Celica GT with the 5SFE engine and A140E automatic transmission. The engine runs completely fine, but Iím unable to engage the transmission at all. Basically any gear I shift into (Reverse, Drive, 2, Low) the car acts like itís in neutral.

Hereís a link to a video I made while the car was in Drive: https://youtu.be/8qGcj6dqRXc

Thereís a knocking sound you can hear as well as a harsh grinding sound when I put the shifter to Park near the end of the video.

If anyone has any idea of what this problem might be, please leave a comment. Iíll likely have to replace a part in the transmission (or the entire transmission) to get this thing running again. Donít hesitate to ask questions as well. Thanks!

Does it have sufficient fluid level? Is the shifter cable still attached at both ends?

I changed the fluid (even pushed out the fluid from the torque converter) and the car will still act like itís in neutral no matter what gear Iím in. Where is the shifter cable located on each end? Is there a document/procedure I can reference? Thanks!
