im a bit jealous but not so. my swap already came in my car when i bought it 7 years ago and the wiring was actually done by a performance shop in san diego. so even though ive torn down my entire car. I never did the actual wiring harness and i don't know if they included the Airbag sensors in it. you know the two that are located under radiator support.

Ah yes, rewiring by candlelight. Good times.

It's very quite therapeutic. lol (not really)

ah, don't be. My harness was already done for me too. I just had to go in and do a little reworking for a few shielded wires, which I finished tonight. I didn't really do much wiring either so I can understand what you mean.

Just these 4 thicker wires

Good as new.

so... we're getting close. Got alot done these past few days. Wiring sorted out, so I thought I'd get everything ready to drop in. Push the trans and engine together and for the life of me I just coudln't close the gap between the two.

this pic says it all. using two engine hoists to hold each part and trying to align it to no end..

no matter what I did, this was the end result each time.

after fighting the trans for hours, I promptly threw my hands up in defeat and headed inside before I hulked out and did any damage to anything in the garage. lol
poured myself a drink and relaxed for the night.

the next morning, I woke up with new determination.
got out there, look the trans dead in the eye and it stared back at me with a gaze saying, "bring it, b*itch!"
and bring it, I did!
I decided to loosen the pressure plate bolts and try to realign the clutch. Played around with it for a bit and realigned the trans.

BAM!

It was just that easy. I must've bumped the clutch alignment tool when I was tightening everything and it was just off by a hair.
Determination and adrenaline were running high so I took it and continued on.
Since the engine bay was empty, I decided to do some preventative maintenance and sprayed the subframe with some eastwood chassis paint as well as sanded and masked off the rusty battery tray for a quick paint

then I proceeded to clean up the huge mess in the garage to make room for carrying the engine around and into the engine bay. WHOO!! I have a floor again!

Installed the starter and put the harness on the engine.

took a look at the AC plugs for the BEAMS vs the 7AFE and they were different so I couldn't use my old compressor.

BEAMS/5S

7AFE

with all that done, all that was left was to cut off my old 7A B pipe and the engine was ready to drop in.
Working late into the night, I had the engine up and over into the engine bay. Dropped it down and lined up the driver side mount until I realized that it was Sunday and not Saturday and that I had to work at 7 the next morning.... shoot! so I had to stop for the night and go inside. SO CLOSE!!

HAHAHAH

I like that you edited your post but not to fix the image. thanks!

we'll see how long it takes for me to get the engine into the bay. maybe another month lol. Mai See says I should have this weekend mostly free so hopefully this weekend it'll be in and then just troubleshooting and exhaust... so end goal is next year around this time. wink.gif

I found one I wanted to use, but I may just save it for Facebook. This was the next best thing, but it happened to be a massive image.

Spent 30 or so mins outside last night in 30 degree weather wearing flippy floppies and the BEAMS is leveled and in. Just gotta tighten everything up.

So it's a huge step but also followed by more setbacks. (of course...)

Turns out the ST power steering line does not work well with the BEAMS/5sfe pump. As you can see, the ST line points towards the firewall when it needs to point towards the pump.

no worries, picking a GT one up on rockauto soon and I'll throw it in while the engine isn't fully bolted down yet and I have a bit of room.

also found out that the clutch lines I have are from an ST and does not bolt up to the clutch slave cylinder. I'll have to try and bend the lines to reach the GT slave, if not I'll have to find GT lines or buy and bend new lines.

Realized you need a get power steering reservoir and lines. St lines won’t work. Easier to install while engine is out

Weekend went as well as it could. lol
Woke up to a cold house on Saturday morning and I was ready to go out and finish everything up. But my house was cold so I checked the furnace and the igniter was out so had to deal with that. Can't catch a break. lol

anyways, in the garage, bent the clutch lines as best I could. It could be shaped better but I don't wanna break them so I"ll leave them for now, it works.

cut the heater hoses and plugged them in to the appropriate spots.

pulled the harness inside and plugged everything in. installed the radiator. engine hoist is off. finally sitting in the bay on it's own. looking like a car again. smile.gif

as always, not without setbacks. lol
old brittle broken plug. the cold didn't help it either I'm sure. gonna snip the 7A plug off and use that one.

thought this was for the drain plug, it's for the temp sensor. duh... (ordered and on the way)

so once I get the power steering line and temp sensor, I should be able to put all the fluids in and start her up. smile.gif

well, it won't be burning up tires just yet as I haven't put the axles in yet. Saving a little bit of room for the power steering hose and then I can drop it back down on the ground and burnouts all around! biggrin.gif
