Thinking about buying a 2008 GS350. Talk me out of it. Keeping the Miata still.

You should buy a GS430 or GS460 instead. wink.gif

It must be bad when you search to the ends of the internet and even try asking in a group dedicated to HID retrofits about your retrofit options for your headlights, and come up completely dry. Sigh... I'm trying...

Recent happenings in the Moira Household:

Officially found a bra that doesn't suck for me from a mainstream brand. After buying two at $35 each (on sale!), I promptly found out it's usually $70+shipping and taxes, for a boring solid-color one, and 80+ for a patterned one. Any guesses as to what brand? Also went up another size. I swear I'm getting taller too, dunno how. At least it's not all horizontal.

Picked up Borderlands 3 and the designer cut, might pick up season pass 1, and the director's cut when it comes out.

Casey is learning how to shoot a gun, virtually, at least...

I'm stuck frying to wrap my head around what Nissan this TPS sensor I bought is supposed to be for. Also making typos. I'll get the part number and picture later when I'm home.

So I did look at the GS430, because originally I wanted an LS and I thought that might fit the bill. I haven't driven one yet but the specs on paper compared to the 350 don't really impress me, and it's 200lbs heavier. GS460 is too $$. I think I'd like to slap an SC on this one and call it done.

Nah, I'd rather have a Supra. I also specifically want a comfortable four-door daily. The only reason I'm considering this is because my dealer got it on trade and they're letting it go fairly cheap since it would have gone to auction. The only other (affordable) cars I'd want are an LS430 or G35S. I'm not impressed by the looks of either anymore after looking at the GS for a while, and they're more expensive anyway. This one has a couple desirable options for me, ventilated seats, power rear shade, and the attractive twisty 18s. Real nice in Florida. No Mark Levinson sound but it seems pretty nice as is and I have the sub and amp from the Celica that I'm itching to throw in. 99% sure I'm going for it.

I'm running a 10" Mark Levinson sub that I repaired after we replaced one in a GS at the shop, on a 75W plate amp in a sealed box it's alright. Free-air in the car it's not bad with the amp and DSP but the Mark Levinson system is in name only, the speakers aren't that special it's more to do with the DSP they use to shape the sound and how they have the crossover setup so the right speakers make the right sounds. There also sounded like there might have been a little bit of distance compensation for the rear speakers so they sounded better up front due to the distance to the rear deck. Nothing you can't do yourself with a good head unit, good amps, and a good DSP for twice what it would cost to just buy a GS with the ML system in it already LOL. But there's the pride in having done it yourself only slightly better for a much much higher cost.

Yeah I'd like the upgraded system but what's in there sounds good for now. I actually turned down the mids and highs a bit. I'm likely not going through the trouble of swapping HU's. This car is thousands cheaper compared to other ones I find with similar options so mentally I'm stuck on this one. A lot of them have beige interiors lacking cooled seats, this one is black on black. Anyway, I plan on tapping into the factory amp with an LC2i, so that should give me decent options for sound. Compared to the Celica with Alpine speakers and added tweeters, this sounds nice. With the added sub it should be bangin'. Thanks for the background on the system.

Might consider 4g eclipse if i can get a good deal on an early one, or go with a 3rd gen Manual GT(S) and save for a 3.8 Mivec (6G75) Swap. they come with forged rods and cast pistons, so prolly won't be to hard to add a lil boost further down the road.

This morning i saw a 4g eclipse with a V6/6 speed manual, 224,000 miles. owner says running/driving, but rear bumper needs replacing (it's cracked top to bottom on the left and a bit on the bottom right) and the truck looks like it may have been victim of being slammed down onto something a few times. other than that it looks pretty solid. there are plenty of average bodied cars like this for 3.5-4k ish, I was thinking i'd shoot for $800 because of the body damage (it'll need the plastic for sure, doesn't look bad beyond that, could probably get away without changing the trunk) and high mileage. Has a clean title and owner says very reliable, would drive it anywhere. Sunburst orange so it has the "best color" too. front seats have aftermarket seats covers (autozone specials), those would go in the trash right away.
