LOL thanks! tongue.gif

but ok,

lets start at the beginning. I first got the car in 2005 I believe. My dad got his 91 civic t-boned by a firebird and we needed a car so he picked up the cell. I didn't think much of it at first since he drove it most the time and it wasn't my car. It went through my family before it got to me. My dad and mom, then my sister, and finally to me. It had 120,000 miles then.

Pure OEM-ness

Got it and then not too long after I wanted to start modding. Didn't know what ST or GT was back then and the limited edition options made it even more confusing for me until I saw that I had the 7afe. frown.gif Looked and looked but found NOTHING! then by chance I came on this forum called... "6GC"? I was like, "awesome! finally!"

5/1/07

stalked the forums here for a while before I decided on my first mod. I got a 3in intake pipe from my bro's civic and bolted it on with a carbon fiber filter. gave it such a nice sound

fit nicely given that I never had the battery hold down and used bungee cords LOL! laugh.gif has never given me trouble though. biggrin.gif

Posted by: cheela Nov 11, 2011 - 11:16 AM

I didn't have money so photoshop was my best friend. LOL laugh.gif

but alas, she stayed stock.

then finally, coughed up some dough for some JDM tails from Vincent Doggy. best mod ever I think.
got those first, and then scoped around on ebay and found the JDM roof spoiler not too long after.

after

I like it black, with the splitters, but I'm bias..for apparent reasons biggrin.gif

Posted by: cheela Nov 11, 2011 - 1:27 PM

LOL! yeah, that was a long time ago when I was just dreaming. but i've grown to love my green. smile.gif I guess i'm biased too.

FEBUARY OF 2008
sad sad day.... I crashed my car...
there were no pics. I pushed it back into the deepest crevices of my mind. frown.gif
Crash was not my fault. stupid walmart chick on her stupid cell phone backed right into me as i was leaving the parking lot.
wouldn't have been so bad if the airbags hadn't gone off and smash my frickn' windshield. I swear Toyota should've done something about that design???

but i was so stuck. I needed a car badly and the insurance gave me $5000 for the car. I really didn't have time to search for a car so I decided to just fix it. frown.gif!! I kick myself for that. could've just bought a front clip and been swapped out by now. LOL oh well. bad timing is all.

drove my brothers' civic while they fixed it.

6/17/08

all fixed and
more goodies were purchased.

OEM sides smile.gif

TOM's lip. SEXY!

oh yeah, also bought clear side markers and turn signals a while before this picture. just didn't take other pics til then.

Posted by: cheela Nov 23, 2011 - 11:56 PM

9.28.08

I drove around with a white lip on for a while because the stupid people that painted my car didn't frickn' put primer on the bumper. drove around and it started to peel off bit by bit.

So I kept the lip on to hide the paint chips. I'd rather rock a white TOM'S lip than paint chips.

eventually went back to the shop and complained. they were like.. "oh, wasn't our fault. someone must've put some sorta chemical on it before we got it." TOTAL BS of course. I could see that no prep work was done. so i got a repaint for free biggrin.gif

then i quit my job and focused on school for a while. so the mods stopped.

eventually i kicked myself into remembering that I had a lip and side skirts to paint. so i got on it

5.2.09

a little wavy but, hey not bad for my first time and being that i used spray can also, looks pretty damn good! biggrin.gif

so here's some shots of it when i first put it on my car.

then my spray can got clogged up so I stopped. couldn't paint my sides. frown.gif

also, this was the same time that I made some custom door sills.

Posted by: cheela Nov 24, 2011 - 12:03 AM

forgot to add.

bought a 3rd brake light overlay.
cheep and effective. LOL laugh.gif

bought a new HKS style filter from ebay because my old one wasn't doing the job smile.gif

and
bought a strut bar from ebay.
it wasn't the neon ones.
It was actually made for our cars but probably not enough support for it because I can't seem to find it anymore????
fits perfectly and is pretty sturdy too. works well. wish i had more info on it.

Posted by: rave2n Nov 25, 2011 - 8:45 AM

Hmm that break cover is something I've been looking for.

Debating if wanted to create it in the cursive type of celica writing. Being I need to de-badge my hatch, I still wanted it to be known it is a celica. Love it.

Posted by: cheela Nov 25, 2011 - 11:21 AM

yeah, i remember trying to find it in cursive too but I just settled for that one. would be cool if you could make one.

UPDATE

Pissed at myself cuz I just messed up my fender. link here: http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=81774&hl=

so....

to make myself feel better I'll put up my semester project I was working on at school.
I loved going to school just to do something I'd really love like taking photos of my cell.

so here is my magazine that I made featuring my cell. LOL laugh.gif

Front Cover:

Back Cover:

so there it is. I think that would be the big update that will bring this thread up to date finally. Another other incidences and upgrades shall be posted up here accordingly. Hopefully no more bad stuff to come. My cell won't look like that for a while. but it'll give me incentive to fix it up and make it even better. smile.gif

I'll gone for the next 5 months so no point putting it on in the middle of our nonexistent winter.

Woah, sexy pipe. You better take a sound clip, though it has been heard many times, its not the same on your own ride =)

Posted by: Tigawoods Jan 11, 2012 - 1:48 PM

give a try cleaning off more of that paint off of the canister.
I got alot off of the one side but I gave up on the other. (it is also the top side so it wont be viewable when installed)

yeah, i'm gonna clean it up a bit before i install it. I'm not sure on whether I wanna polish up nice n shiny or just paint it. Painting would protect it better especially in the winter but it just looks so damn sexy all polished up tongue.gif.

we'll see how anal I get about this muffler. I know no one's gonna see it but....

Posted by: Tigawoods Jan 15, 2012 - 2:58 PM

i think i stated in my FS thread, but just to remind you. the hanger on the left, needs to be adjusted. it is too long giving the exhaust a little sag. Either bend it more, or cut and re-weld it, whichever is easier for you.

Posted by: cheela Jan 15, 2012 - 3:27 PM

yes, i remember seeing that. I will make sure to fix it. thanks for reminding me.

It's so sad to depart from my beloved glorious green celi. frown.gif

I'm taking the next 5 months in Korea so I can't take it with me...

Hi guys

I will try to polish my headlights - it's the stock ones. Just want to be 100% sure that they are made from plastic. Can anyone confirm this? :-)

It's this product I will give a try tongue.gif http://www.headlight-restoration-kit.com/turtle-wax-headlight-lens-restorer-review/

Umm, never seen those type of rotors before. Why are their waves on the pad surface?

Posted by: cheela Apr 10, 2012 - 11:40 AM

bought them off tirerack
http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/brakes.jsp?model=PremiumOne+Slotted+Rotor&make=ATE

they work just like slotted rotors. I like the look of them and they work alright.
a little bit of an OE upgrade but not incredible come to a full stop in .01 sec power
but for my 7a, don't need much i guess laugh.gif

Ah I see, kinda cool looking. They make any odd noises when braking due to that? Lol looks almost like generic ABS in a sense. On off breaking on the rotor.

hmm.. not that i've remembered. they've been pretty quiet. of course I don't think I've ever FULLY tested them out. I just drive around town mostly so they don't get much use. hahahah.

yeah, I'm so undecided on them though. not sure if I want SSIII or TRDs. I like both.

Posted by: BonzaiCelica Jun 1, 2012 - 2:09 PM

SS-III will flow with the rest of the body kit.

TRD replica will bring the look of the car down towards the rear. Ie bring the weight of the rear down (when you look at it)

Posted by: delusionz Jun 1, 2012 - 6:53 PM

I have TRD rear and OEM sides, looks funny side-on.. Full TRD is definitely a good look

Posted by: cheela Jun 21, 2012 - 11:15 AM

yeah i don't like how the ssiii look from the rear, but i like how it looks from the sides.
the TRDs look kinda weird from the side but they look awesome from the rear i think.

ah, decisions decisions. but that's ok. just minor stuff. maybe i'll get both and switch them on and off. LOL

Im just glad to be of service cheela. That will be $20. breakin bread aint cheap sir, lol

Posted by: cheela Jul 27, 2012 - 1:42 PM

ok guys I'm missing something
was replacing my radiator. got it out
took my fans off and this is what one of them looked like.
definitely missing something. frown.gif is it just a big washer or did it get eaten up.
anyone have that washer or whatever it is lying around?

this was because i let some stupid shop do the repairs when i crashed a few years back.

this was also part of the the beautiful repair job.

YUP, that's a piece of wood used to hold my high beam in place.
not to mention that every single tab was broken and was basically held in place by the bumper only.
and yeah the radiator is leaking because of the shop as well. thats' why I have to replace it.

more sad news. this is what kept me from going to the midwest meet frown.gif frown.gif frown.gif

but on a happier note, haven't posted pics of my 7th gen rims yet so while it's sitting:

Posted by: cheela Jul 28, 2012 - 4:08 PM

well got a fan from the junkyard. also found a high beam with all tabs smile.gif and tweeter covers but no tweeters frown.gif
but now fan is bolted back on and radiator is in. gettin there.

at the junkyard there was a 94 GT hatch that I took the high bream off of. was still almost all there. let me know if anyone needs parts I might be able to go back and dig around. also was an ST as well, picked pretty well but who knows. and a crashed coupe. I'll go back and take some pics if u all want. but was glad? to see 6gcs in the junkyard for me. Around here, they're pretty rare at junkyards.

so radiators in and working, brakes are fixed, high beams tinted.

but now my hood won't open. WTF! oh well i'll see what i can do.

Posted by: cheela Aug 16, 2012 - 12:28 AM

alright, another good junkyard dive.

found 5 6gcs.

got a new hood latch assembly
also picked up some tweeters to go with my tweeter covers. I read that there is a wire there to just plug in right?

also, got the "TOYOTA CELICA" emblem off the rear as well as a GT key light ring, and a Toyota Security light for under your dash.
(these are extra parts so if anybody is interested shoot me a PM)

I'll most likely go back and dig for more treasure! hehehehe
there were a couple GTs there, with two post spoilers. gonna grab one for me soon. smile.gif

sorry no pics...... yet. tongue.gif

Got some new mods on today.

clear door lens from a lexus

wrapped my headers

picked up a GT strut bar

AND the big decision!....

I'm leaving it on for now.

Posted by: cheela Aug 20, 2012 - 10:43 PM

I know, I specifically picked a black just so it blends in a little bit better. not too bad for a junkyard find. $20 lol

it was either that or this red one:

Im sorry lol, I noticed that after I had posted. (Blond moment)

Posted by: smkr3w Aug 24, 2012 - 5:47 PM

Did you drill new holes for the two post? Overall difficulty?

Posted by: cheela Aug 24, 2012 - 9:28 PM

was excited to put it on and didn't wanna drill it until I got some body prepping materials ready so I just took off my 3post and cleaned the hatch as good as I could.

then used the little covers for the door cards to pop on top of the holes to cover it for now since I had a few extras. then some tape on the inside just to be safe. and then I just used the one bolt on each side that matched up with the 2 post and bolted it on.

the hatch already has a spot you can see where the other hole would need to be drilled so I don't think it would be too difficult but for now, I'm rolling ghetto style. took it on the highway a few times and it held up fine. no shaking, no rattle, no flying off my car and killing a nice family on the road so it's good for now. smile.gif

Not sure if you still have it arranged that way, but please buy a proper tie-down for the battery. It's not fun when the battery shifts and as a result, the positive connection is compromised and hello, no power steering nor much brake response. See how that suits in the middle of a turn in traffic. Camry has a workable bolt and tie-down assembly, harvest from junkyard.

lol, yeah if you look underneath your bumper there should already be a screw that is in place where it will attach. and then I just used doublesided tape along the edges. had to remove the old tape but just a blowdryer and some goo gone will do. yea, i just used the holes for the mudflaps. just found some random nuts and bolts to hold them on for now but yeah ideally self tapping screws would be best. I didn't drill the bottom hole into the bumper at all because there was no need. as long as you mount it on flush and tight it should be fine. and you and me both got OEM/JDM ones too, not replicas so fitment is perfect. let me know if you need clarification on anything else.

Posted by: ILoveMySilly97 Apr 21, 2013 - 6:03 PM

I thought so. I looked under my rear bumper and there were no holes besides the two holes all the way in the middle of the bumper but that's too far to reach for my splitters. I'll just bolt it in to the same holes as my mud flaps and use 3m double sided tape.

I NEVER scraped when dropped on my Eibach Sportlines. I barely scrape tucking wheels with my D2 Coilovers... the only thing that scrapes is my low hanging exhaust and sometimes the front splitters. You'll be fine with TRD's. Your roads can't be worse than upstate NY roads.

I think it matches my style that i'm going for. OEM/JDM stuff so it only makes sense that a set of OEM rims will match my car. I've never liked too many aftermarket rims and the ones I like are out of my current price range. hahaaha.

since I'm doing up the suspension and gonna have to take off my end links, I said what the hey and bought me some racing beat end links for the rear. I'll probably do ST185s for the fronts later.

Looks like burnt orange to me. Then again I can't tell the difference between black and certain shades of blue, and gray and certain shades of green.

sides went on fine but got a little crease in the rear windshield. mad.gif

Tint is 35% all around from Northerntint.com.

UPDATE:

so I took off my spoiler. sanded and primed the riser blocks. still have to sand and prime the spoiler. I've been rocking' it spoilerless for a while. kinda like it. hahaha

anyways, bigger update.

so a month ago, I found a great deal on something that I wanted to save and surprise the members at the midwest meet but ended up not being able to make it to that meet. been keeping it under lock for a while now and since I might have to throw the celi into hibernation soon, I might as well spill it.
found a full set of 7th gen cloth seats for sale by a newcelica member that was actually pretty close by and for a very good price of $150. they got some leather ones and threw those in so these were leftovers with no rails or anything. which.... wasn't a problem for me at all since I wasn't gonna need them anyways. smile.gif

On to the pics!

side note... i really need to stop taking pics with my iPad. gotta get back to using an actual camera. hahaha

just from ebay.

they come from poland so take a little while but great quality.

The hood will now only cost me $200. The seller agreed on a partial refund since this was the last hood in stock.
Not a bad deal at all.

Perhaps could touch it up some so it's not blatantly obvious, at least you were able to get a sizeable refund.

yeah, might get a hood spoiler to cover it up or some vinyl.
all in all, not the worse thing to ever happen.

and I was quite surprised at the refund as well. I went in expecting the typical, "not my problem, call and blame the shipping company" response but this guy was pretty cool.

What kind of an exhaust are you going to go with? I've been thinking about apexi ws2. I don't like the fart can sounding exhausts so that kinda eliminated 99%.

Posted by: Box Jan 5, 2016 - 10:24 PM

If you don't want your car to sound like a bumbled bee you'll want a muffler with baffles. So far I've liked Magnaflow's XL line, their only baffled muffler, as it's what my brother used on his 2.0T Genesis Coupe and the 5.9 Durango and both sound really good. The Genesis especially surprised me as it's deep and rumbly with no rasp at all, which I imagine the turbo helps out a little there in that regard. Flowmaster, FlowTech/Hooker, and Thrush/Dynomax are others that offer baffled mufflers.

Posted by: Jmk91 Jan 5, 2016 - 10:47 PM

I'll have to check out that xl line. The ws2 isn't cheap haha. It's 280ish for an axle back.

seen them on 6th gen, 5th gens, and even 4th gens. lol

Maybe cause they contrast better than on the 7G? 7G is somewhat aggressive already so the wheels look normal on the car but on something older and less aggressive they 'pop'. Maybe.

that's true. also, 16's might have been a bit small for them when during that time regular cars were moving up to 17s and 18s for standard OEM rims already.
