6G Celicas Forums _ Interior/Audio/Electrical/Wiring _ How to do - installing 96-99 fogs

Posted by: malpaso Jun 26, 2006 - 2:02 AM

I'm sure I can't beat azian_advanced and his "how-to-do"s wink.gif, however I belive at least one person will appreciate that (am I right Tina? biggrin.gif)

Let's do some work...
1. useful equipment wink.gif :

a) well known fog lamps
part numbers:
R 81210-20280
L 81220-20270

b) lamp brackets (you can also see already installed fog light wire from factory! just plug-and-play)
part numbers:
R 52015-20310
L 52016-20150

c) 6 screws (I don't know what "international marking" is, but we call them "size 10")

2. checking some details... If you want install them "by the book" you will need:

a) fog light relay
b) fog light switch
c) fuse (20A)

locations...

relay...

switch...

and fuse...

if you don't have anything, prepare to pay about USD140 frown.gif

part numbers:

*if you don't want to pay that amount see "second choice" way at the end (point 5) wink.gif

3. switch swap, easy thing, just screwdriver needed... remove all necessary screws, disconnect plug with wires and just pull multi-switch out... For relay you will not need any tool. Just plug it in (it's "dumb-proof", can't plug it wrong wink.gif biggrin.gif )...

4. everithing done. Now just see how nice it works tongue.gif

5. "second choice" way. If you don't want to spend money for multifunctional switch swap and relay, just buy any switch/button and rake up some wires...

a) wires connect like this... (short circuit of contacts shown below, turns your foglights on wink.gif)...

b) ...and if you add to the "short circuit" any switch...

...you have working foglights also wink.gif
***warning*** : if you forget turn your foglights off (leaving a car), you kill your battery! There is no "warning sound" like headlights has...

Hope sticky this... wink.gif

This is awesome, i guess the only thing that could be added is if you dont have the stock wires in the bumper area to hook in. Cuz i dont think i do =(. But nice write-up.

not my 94 gt. no wires. maybe usdm has no harness already installed.

Posted by: malpaso Jun 26, 2006 - 7:00 AM

I instaled two foglights this weekend (both 96 ST, one import from Austria, second import from Italy -> European versions. No problems at all confused.gif)

Posted by: azian_advanced Jun 26, 2006 - 7:13 AM

nice write up malpaso! biggrin.gif
does anybody know whether USDM celicas (ST or GT) have the wire harness for fog lamps already?
also, i want to install my fogs with the euro rear fog button instead of the switch.. but is that possible?

Of course... use my "second choice" way and use that button wink.gif. All you need is those wires... kindasad.gif. Just make pic like http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f217/shinpuu/6cg/how_to_do_foglights/02_bracket.jpg and let's see... I had my wires there folded and covered with black sellotape...

Posted by: jdg371 Jun 26, 2006 - 7:37 AM

I would check my car if it has the wires but its raining

Posted by: ILuvMyCelica95 Jun 26, 2006 - 11:41 AM

awww smile.gif thanks!

My car doesnt have any wires for fog lights at all. So i dont have the stock harness in there, which makes this a pain in the ass.

Posted by: snapshotgt Jun 26, 2006 - 12:11 PM

Firstly, that was a great write-up! biggrin.gif

Just to let you people know, 94-95 USDM Celica's do not have any wiring for fogs. So, if you want fogs, you have to wire the whole thing That said, it is really not that hard! I just went out to PEPBOYS and bought a little wiring kit, maybe like $10 at most!

btw, here is a pic of the 94-95 JDM st202 fogs (only "stock" fogs for our bumper -- kinda rare too wink.gif ):

Is it possible to sticky this or add this to the "How To's"?

Posted by: JFrost9 Jul 15, 2006 - 2:14 PM

snap do you have any more info on the install? I think this how-to should include a little section for the 94-95 guys that dont have the harness already installed.

GREAT job man!
added to the sticky!

The two pins on the fog lights that go into the bracket are held in place by a fastener. You need two fasteners per side.

The part numbers for these are:
90075-10817 Cost: 1.90 CAD

You got a set of foggies now?

Posted by: Euphoria Aug 20, 2009 - 10:06 AM

yeah bro, fully sick uleh, I think fog lights are a huge wank factor but the bumper needs something there and I didn't want un-useable lights there.

Posted by: Euphoria Aug 22, 2009 - 2:02 AM

anyone?

Posted by: SwissFerdi Aug 22, 2009 - 2:41 AM

Mine are aftermarket as well (judging by the non-stock switch), so I'm kind of intrigued by the answer.

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Nov 20, 2009 - 6:32 PM

ok just to be clear, you only use the 2 prongs on the switch or does it have to be grounded

If you have a pre facelift model, you have to add the wiring yourself.

Posted by: Toyo6g Jul 5, 2013 - 10:22 AM

From where so I have to star the wiring??

Posted by: MIRVops Jul 17, 2014 - 11:35 AM

So as long as you don't have the multi function switch the fogs will never work?

Hi, sorry to bring up an old thread but i need help.

So I have the multi-function switch and the fog lights, BUT..... I have a 94 USDM Celica, and therefore I don't have the stock wiring harness.

Since this installation guide is based on/assumes that you have the stock wiring harness, how would I go about installing the fog lights?

Posted by: Bushmatic Sep 8, 2017 - 8:18 PM

I know how old this thread is, but I just want to add some information that may be helpful to some. If you are going with the "second option" install, there is a factory Toyota toggle switch that fits in the hole without modification. It came in 3rd generation 4Runners and I believe some Tacomas. I currently have this exact switch installed and can confirm its exact fitment. It's a tight fit because of how far the prongs stick out the back, but with a bit of bending and wiggling it sits right in there.
