Brakes are ez, I can find a rear disk GT pair for under 200.

Do it right and get the front and rear GT brakes plus the proportioning valve. GT front brakes are much more effective than the ST fronts and it's the fronts that do most of the work.

Nah man, you need to be seeing someone on the regular. This isn't one of those 'tough it out on your own' things, group or one on one, you need to get therapeutic help through this even if you have to do co-pays or whatever. It's completely irresponsible to give you three sessions, a bottle of hormones, and say 'ok well good luck'. That's exactly how people die.

Agree 100%

You've got a great starting point there for a car you can enjoy and depend upon.

Of the few, basic mods I have done to mine, the GT brake swap is my favorite so far.

Removed the inspection cover yesterday. Didn't reveal anything except a lightweight flywheel.... No clue why they would put it on the back side of the flywheel, not really useful there.

So, I started pulling the left side of the car apart to get some visibility to the trans:

Got the starter out to take a look at the pressure plate/clutch, and it looks like it may have just been end of life on the current piece.

It's just weird because there wasn't any slipping prior to the failure. There was no noise either. I'm still thinking that it was the TO bearing that took a ****.

For the record, the current clutch is a Clutchmasters FX500 6 puck un-sprung unit, that the PO installed.

Something just doesn't look right about that photo. I wonder if your clutch failed.

Ok, so I need to know if this is rice. One person said yes, one person said no, I'm not sure. My wheel liners are missing some clips here and there, I'll figure what size the holes are in the fenders and install some threaded rivets and use....
https://www.ebay.com/itm/131979267328 Or whatever size I need, come in M3 and up. Eh? Eh? Rice or nice? I love my subtle red accents.

Rice.

I still say we need to setup a "new member thread" so they can throw down all their posts there and you can zip through it approving them to get them to where you don't have to approve them anymore.

I think that's what's been turning off any new members we do happen to get, I know it'd irk me.

Great idea.

messed around with it this past weekend.
decided to forego the whole clutch start safety switch and just wired it into the neutral start and was able to crank it with the key now but yet another roadblock. started leaking fuel. checked and it was leaking from at the fuel rail by the banjo bolt. so gonna order some washers and hopefully it'll get fuel and start.

One step closer is always good. Don't mess around with those fuel leaks!

QUOTE (Box @ Apr 8, 2019 - 9:38 PM) *
Well once brother fixes the Firebird I've definitely decided on getting a NB2 Miata in one of the various shades of blue or that one year only teal. I tossed around the idea of a 3.0 Z3 but for what a remotely decent one costs it'd take all the proceeds of selling the Firebird and then that's not wise for a car you don't know the history of much less a German one. Plus it's yet another compromise for power given its weight and E30 trailing arm rear suspension, and the BMW I6 is ok on sound. Then I thought about the MR2 and MR2 Spyder, but then they're harder to work on and would need LSD added though I suppose if a not fire engine red hardtop SW was found I'd put up with such. Really that's about it. I like smaller and lighter cars and I've reached a point where I rather not have power in something I like and can drive versus something I barely use the power in and don't care for driving much aside from the exhaust note, but none of that matters when you can't even drive it. That and I know how well the NB2 rides stock and I know I like it overall as a car already, so there's that too. Oh yeah, there's also the Pontiac Solstice/Saturn Sky but don't think could find a GXP/Redline within budget otherwise that'd be a stronger contender.

Curious why you're not interested in a BRZ/86.

I saved about 28 pounds, most of which is unsprung, with coilovers, and I saved about 25 pounds by replacing my exhaust system (including eBay header and Magnaflow cat).

These are my corner weights with full tank of fuel and no occupants, after installing the coilovers but with stock exhaust.
