first day i had her

the new wheels for her day 2

Before she went in

new wheels and tires on her day 3

cleaned her all up

her new short ram intake

New stereo i installed

Super whites

day i got her back from the tint shop, old tint was cracked and i couldn see out of the back window

essentially the finished product for now, all of th cost me just over 3400, only paid 2300 for the car, let me know what you all think, im new to the whole celica thing but all my cars have been JDM so im no stranger to that. just let me know what you think about mods, i was thinking headers exhaust and maybe coilovers and definately some gt4 risers

The pajama bottoms in the stereo shot made me laugh.

Joking aside, it looks MUCH better. I really like it. I was never a fan of that color, but you made it look good with the wheels and tint. Is that the original paint job? If so, it's held up VERY well over the years, I'm quite impressed! You'll soon find many other things to upgrade.. it's a bug, it'll get ya wink.gif.

A couple suggestions:

PLEASE clean out your engine bay. I know, I know, it's not ever high on the priority list, but it'll make that new air intake all the more special when everything around it is gleaming as well wink.gif.
It almost may be time to replace your rear (or for that matter both while you're at it) rotors. They look quite rusty.

But yea, great start bud. Stay here and read up some. You'll learn about a BOATLOAD of things you can do to improve your Celica.

Most of the dirt you can get off by just wiping it down with degreaser and a rag to be honest. If you know what you're doing, you can also pour a bucket of water over specific areas and not damage the car (avoiding electrical areas is always a good thing). I did this when my radiator had a leak and spewed coolant everywhere and it worked quote well.

But all that grime on the frame itself and on the valve cover, ect. can be easily cleaned by hand.

Wow, I've never made that many changes on the first day/week and I'm on my 3rd Gen6 Celica. Looks like they're all good changes too, nice.

I've never changed wheels, changed my lights months into it, stereo has always come last and never done tints.

Intake always on day 1 though biggrin.gif

Posted by: richee3 Oct 19, 2009 - 6:10 PM

That's odd, you have a '96 model, which has the facelift bumper (as it should,) but has the '94-95 spoiler. I guess whoever owned the car before you had the good taste to change it.

The car looks good, and so far you've been very tasteful. Keep up the good work!

Posted by: SwissFerdi Oct 19, 2009 - 6:17 PM

Nice-looking 6GC man. Richee, I think that's because it's an Anniversary model...don't quote me on that.

Posted by: Espo Oct 19, 2009 - 6:50 PM

Swissferdi: Nope, my '96 25th Anni has the three-prong bumper.

Greendemon, nice looking car - I had that color on my 94 but the paint was nowhere near the condition yours is in. I like all the changes you've made, the tint definitely made an impact to work well with that particular color.

Nope. The spoiler might have been an option, but I would advise the OP to go check for a VIN sticker on the inside of the hatch and see if it matches the VIN on the dash.

Besides, a 25th anniversary has the black emblems, and the 25th anniversary emblem and sticker on the fender.

Posted by: SwissFerdi Oct 19, 2009 - 7:42 PM

I could've sworn I read that somewhere here...alright, learned something new. I thought prefacelift and facelift parts were never interchanged.

They weren't. You either have '94-95 parts or '96-99 parts, unless the owner/s of the car changed it somewhere along the lines. In this case, the spoiler was changed for the better.

Where in Kentucky are you from, 96stgreendemon?

im from northern kentucky like the florence aere, like thirty south of cincinnati, but i bought the car from ohio, but prior to that the car was in tenessee so its nice because she doesnt have all the rust like most of them do around here

i believe that this is the right spoiler for the gt4 risers. anyone have an answer? or risers for sale

Posted by: SwissFerdi Oct 19, 2009 - 9:40 PM

Yes, that is indeed the right spoiler. The only thing you'll have to do is drill new holes in the spoiler, I believe.

cool, how hard is it to unbolt all that with the plastic trim around the hatch? and how much do the risers usually go for?

Posted by: SwissFerdi Oct 19, 2009 - 10:41 PM

Removing the spoiler is pretty easy. Just take off the interior plastics, starting with the small cover in the center. I would take a screw driver and apply a small amount of force to the outside of the trim, and then the clips will just pop out of place. Since you have a 2-post, all you have to do is use a wrench to undo the 2 bolts on each side and that's it. The spoiler will probably need a bit of force to come loose. Good luck. thumbsup.gif

I've seen risers for around 150, there are usually a few sold by members each month.

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Oct 19, 2009 - 11:02 PM

cool cool sounds good bro, i think that will most likely be the last thing i do to her, i wanna keep her looking classy, maybe a new exhaust for her but thats in the future

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Oct 23, 2009 - 10:54 AM

i finally got my other car sold so now i have 2 grand cash in my hand so im thinking risers

Posted by: mak5603 Oct 23, 2009 - 12:24 PM

Get some clear sides, i think they would look really good with that color and are only like 25 bucks on ebay.

Posted by: spolski07 Oct 23, 2009 - 3:07 PM

risers, oem side skirts and jdm tails. plus tanabe df210 drop springs would really make this an amazing looking car thumbsup.gif

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Nov 2, 2009 - 11:28 PM

yea i just wish i had more money to spend on her, im all tapped out now so i gotta wait awhile before anymore work, so many things i wanna do to her like a short throw, jdm tails, ss ii spliters and risees, then get the hood repainted, its nice to dream

Posted by: jjbenzo Nov 2, 2009 - 11:41 PM

You did some great updates within the first few days with your new Celica. The wheels are such a huge improvement. Although, instead of spending your money on "performance" mods for that engine, I think you would get more bang for your buck by tightening up the suspension, adding some OEM Toyota liftback side skirts, OEM foglights and basic maintenance to be sure it is operating at it's best. Good luck, looks great so far!

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Nov 3, 2009 - 9:59 AM

yea i was thinking about lowering it or putting some bars on it but money is tight right now, and i think the previous owner did something with the suspension, it is alrealy pretty tight going around turns with little body roll, but some jdm parts would be nice

Posted by: jjbenzo Nov 3, 2009 - 11:51 AM

To be honest, the Celica GT's were always praised for their tight steering and suspension from the factory. I cant imagine the ST is much different. The car's driving dynamics are some of the greatest in it's class.

Posted by: SwissFerdi Nov 3, 2009 - 11:56 AM

You're right. I don't experience much body roll, and my steering is quite responsive.

yea its crazy how they handle, and not to mention they are pretty quick for such a little engine, i wanna do an exhaust next, do you have any suggestions? i cant seem to find a cat back on the internet for my 96, this car is starting to become an obsession ha ha

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Dec 29, 2009 - 11:31 AM

ok its been awhile but here are some new more current pics of the car, new mods, jdm tails, ssiii blocks and spoiler, new system, and the s2k antenna modd, let me know what ya think,

Posted by: CastrolCelica Dec 30, 2009 - 9:53 AM

You can afford JDM tails and you can't get your lazy butt over here in Columbus? haha smile.gif

Looks great so far. It's funny how far the cars come in such little time. I'll have to post pics of my Celica up here too. I've done a few mods since last time I posted.

Btw, nice signature.. wonder who made it wink.gif.

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Dec 30, 2009 - 11:25 AM

ha ha i have had jdm tails for awhile, but yeah some guy with a white and green and red car made my sig for me laugh.gif laugh.gif , but just let me know when u need me to come up, i just started a new job so just let me know a few days in advanced, and im in gulf shores alabama till the 5th lol, but the beach is about 50 degrees, not "beach weather" kindasad.gif

Hope to see more from you.

Posted by: CastrolCelica Jan 4, 2010 - 10:02 AM

Hey Kyle! Wow talk about a Merry Christmas, huh!? The car looks MUCH better....though I guess I need to make you a new signature now though, right? haha

Don't worry, I'm used to it. Not that many people notice, but I've gone through 6 variations for mine alone haha.

But yea, your car seriously looks like a little green demon now. It's freakin gorgeous. One concern though.. PLEASE find another car to drive while your paint cures. Salt from the snow storms outside will severely damage it!

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Jan 4, 2010 - 10:19 AM

ha ha i dont have another car to drive, maybe i can get my girlfriend to cart my assa round, how long will it take it to cure?

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Jan 4, 2010 - 10:23 AM

yeah my parents are freaking amazing, i was coming home with my girlfriend from a trip to alabama for 2 weeks, i get home and open the garage door to go upstairs and i see this, i almost pissed myself i was so suprised, my parents and my grandparents were hiding down there waiting for me to get there and video taped the whole thing, im pretty sure i was jumping up and down and screaming like a teenagge girl, but hey its freaking awesome, the few thinks that were flaws with my car are finally gone now, and she is show quality, i love it, and am afraid to drive her lol

Posted by: CastrolCelica Jan 4, 2010 - 10:40 AM

Haha, that's so nice smile.gif. I'm glad you had a great Christmas.

Regarding your paint, can you find out if they did a single stage enamel or a base/clear? That's important to know. The base/clear cures MUCH faster, but if they did what I did, and just did a really nice durable single stage enamel, than you're looking at 3 weeks minimum for cure time.. and that's in warm weather. Cold weather will make it go slower.

I chose single stage because white Celicas were done with that originally, so I wanted to keep it all the same. Your green color, like the red, is a base/clear. But it doesn't mean that's what they used to paint your hood and spoiler.

Either way salt and water for that matter are horrible for a curing paint job. It will not only discolor your paint (because it soaks into the curing paint) but it might actually chip off as well since the paint is weak. Curing paint is like a sponge. While 3 weeks is the magical mark for single stage enamel, 2 weeks is safe in non-road salt water. The best thing you can do is garage it, especially in weather such as this. I'd beg your gf to "cart your ass around" haha if I were you.

Anywho, it looks great and enjoy it.

Does your rear badge say "STX" ?

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Jan 6, 2010 - 11:03 PM

Listen, I can tell you're proud of your modifications...but please put the correct car in your profile, you DON'T have an SS-III.

ha ha and yeah i cannot wait to get them on, just gotta wait for the paint to cure and then mount them,
and ferdi, its an SSIII to me

Posted by: Tech-Nics Feb 26, 2010 - 12:59 PM

Dude! I love your car man. You are really getting some where now. That color is freaking awesome. If you shaved off those front USDM fender lights on the side. It would look super sicker. Can't wait to see the SS-III lip kit on man. Awesome paint job too on the side skirts. You need to get some mud flaps. I've seen those rally mud flaps with the lip kit and it looks sex x4. I got my GT4 front end done. I'll send you some pics when it stops snowing every freaking day. Your car's color flow 100% with the 2k GTS Celica rims.

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Feb 26, 2010 - 2:16 PM

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Feb 26, 2010 - 3:49 PM

thankyou, i primed and sanded them over and over again to fill spots and scratches

Posted by: delusionz Feb 28, 2010 - 8:35 PM

I agree with Ferdi.

If only you had a chance to drive a REAL SS-III (or a Celica with Superstrut & LSD conversion and a 200BHP 3S-GE motor) lol.

Try going 60mph around a hairpin in your ST or GT with your foot flat. LOL then come back and tell us it's an SS-III.

Sorry to kill your buzz but your bodykit doesn't make a GT into SS-III spec, but rather an 1998 facelift lookalike.

Just as though a Ferrari Enzo bodykit doesn't make an MR2 anymore than an MR2 Enzo lookalike, you'd be a laughing stock if you took such a thing to a Ferrari meet.

On another note, props for getting some OEM style extensions that I like, atleast you have taste smile.gif

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Mar 5, 2010 - 12:09 AM

So i got the rear splitters installed i sold the skirts because i needed the money but hopefully i can get some new ones soon, but here are the splitters

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Mar 18, 2010 - 4:46 PM

so got a little update for everyone, after selling the skirts and paying my bills i got a rather large paycheck my way, so i found myself some oem side skirts, listen to the best part, they were only 140 shipped to my house, thanks to decalsondemand, he told me about them having the skirts on car-part.com, so after a few places fell through i lucked out and found a place in alabama that shipped them to me, and let me tell you these things are in great conditoin, just gotta sand them down, paint, and install, will have some pics up as soon as i can

Posted by: Tech-Nics Mar 19, 2010 - 12:33 AM

^^^ Can't wait to see this! then all you need are the front ones to finish and you got your self a SS-III in a awesome rare OEM paint color.

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Mar 19, 2010 - 8:28 AM

yup i have the front splitters ready to paint, gotta sand down the skirts and then prime them and paint them, then the hard part of putting them on ha ha

Just a suggestion.

thank you, the painting is not as hard as you think, it all comes down to prep work, as long as you take your time and are not in a hurry it should turn out nicely

to this

Posted by: SwissFerdi Jun 16, 2010 - 10:01 PM

^ Damn, that looks awesome. Hard to install? The needles scare me.

One thing: you do realize you got the ones for a GT, right?

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Jun 16, 2010 - 10:09 PM

not too bad to install just took forever because im a damn perfectionist, its a curse really, i did a custom mount for the dimmer and on off switch too so that took alot of time and also extended the wires so i could put the switch where i wanted to, but as far as hooking up the power i just used the power and ground from the radio for power

the ST and GT glow gauges ones are the same.
the 94-95 STs and all GTs have the redline start at 6200, only the 96-97 ST are 5800.

Wiring doesn't worry me, it's more of the gauge face install itself that worries me.

Did not know that. Well, that would bother me...even though I can't go to redline right now anyway.

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Jun 16, 2010 - 10:46 PM

yeah the gauge faces were the shortest part of the whole ordeal, just use silicone caulk to put them on with, just be sure to use the kind that air drys and not the quick drying which has a drying agent in it which may warp the gauges

Posted by: richee3 Jun 17, 2010 - 6:56 PM

so tonight i got the final piece for my ssiii replica, the ssiii grill thanks to FORGMANN

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Jul 22, 2010 - 4:35 PM

ok so i have done a few small things lately while still waiting for my coilovers, which i have been told may be here in early august, not gonna hold them to it, but anyways made some progress on a few exterior mods and interior mods
refinished the rims

What you all think about the rims?

Schwing and my SSIII grill

thanks, i wasnt sure about the color at first but so much better than the silver, was just a PITA to do, strip, sand, primer, sand again, paint, wait ten minutes, paint, wait ten minutes. paint wait ten minutes, clearcoat, wait ten minutes, clearcoat, wait ten minutes, clearcoat, now wait 3 hours before they can go back on, took me all day on wednesday but so worth it all in the end

So a few nights ago me and some friends tackled my coilovers, went lower but not slammed like i would like because i scrape bad enough going down my driveway not, but here are some pics for ya, dont have any of the install though. the coilovers are D2 street full coilovers with front pillowball mount, new twosrus endlinks, let me know what you think

Definately looks good with the coils in. But cmonnn mate drop it lower!! Theres always ways around your driveway. Planks of wood in the drain area to even it out. Or get some concreate and even it out. Or just park it outside. Oh yeh nice bronze 7gens stockies.

then spacer to flush out the 7th gen wheels would be very rad.

i know whacha mean about rough roads with coilovers, i dread mine a lot of the time.

Sometimes i just wonder why? seems like every freaking time i do something to upgrade the car something else takes a $hit, like with the coilovers, get them installed and find out i need new CV joints, ok i can deal with that, get the new CV's installed and the axle seals need to be replaced now or the cv is getting a bad seal, not to mention im burning oil worse than an old dodge mini van, just tired of everytime i do something its always something else that needs to be fixed...... end rant

This is a great progress thread, the car is really coming together nicely. How long did it take to paint those panels? It looks factory

I have a number of paint issues with the celica (terribly faded, few tiny rust spots, couple dents), and I wanted to learn how to do bodywork/painting. I have experience as a mechanic but I dont know much on bodywork. I know thats a real broad subject but I cant afford to bring the car to a body shop for this stuff and I would love to learn myself. Surprised no one has put a 'how to' or anything yet on painting or bodywork, but I have no problem being the first to do so if a few ppl would donate some good instructions!

Dont wana hijack this thread, sorry so I started a new one to continue this elsewhere:
http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=76098

...and that can be a Maserati if you want it to be, dont listen to that 'its not a SSIII' BS haha, its your creation. Lookin good

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Sep 29, 2010 - 3:12 PM

Hey thanks, and not too long i think prep and all about 4 or 5 days, but i had other stuff i had to do too so it could have been less, but its not all too bad, only way i have learned is by doing.....
Oh yeah and update, finally stopped leaking tranny fluid, got tired of it leaking so without ever messing with anything besides changing the tranny fluid i decided i was gonna install a new CV and a new inner tranny seal, 4 hours later and im done

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Oct 28, 2010 - 8:57 AM

finally have an update, spent the last few weeks molding and perfecting my splitters, just painted them and here are the results, more pics will be up later, but its looking like i dont even need to cut and buff the paint

Ok here are the pics, not the best pics but you get the point, the red primer in the first few pictures helps find high/low spots in the paint or chips things like that, filled all those with some glazing compound and the small pinholes where the bondo had air in it, but all those black circles you see are places i marked to be filled, there is not a single imperfection in the splitters, paint was a pita because my fan filter blowing out got clogged which caused some issues but looks pretty good IMO worked at least 20+ hours on getting these perfect and molded to my car but the result was worth it

Posted by: HectortheRican Oct 28, 2010 - 9:33 AM

I can't wait for the install pictures!!

33mm rear bolt on 54.1 hubcentric spacers
Hopefully some new rubber
maybe new wheels but thats a big maybe
The front and rear splitters will be coming off soon for the winter though, ive put way too much time into them to break them off in the snow

It definitely isn't fun, especially without a lift. For the rear you will have to slightly lower your fuel tank and possibly your exhaust to get the old one out and squeeze the new one in. Again, this task is a pain in the ass with no lift. You get the lime green ones?

the one thing that pist me off was that the bolts are allen key.
other than that, not too bad

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Dec 22, 2010 - 2:28 PM

wait the bolts that hold the old one are allen key? i know the new ones are but didnt know about the stockers

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Dec 23, 2010 - 12:03 AM

Well that was a PITA, took 6 hours with 2 friends helping, the exhaust bolts were rusted on, which took 2 hours to get it off, then the manuveing of the bars in and out gas tank etc, front and rear are on though, hoping to go for a drive in the morning as long as there is no snow on th eground

Posted by: NGHTKD Dec 23, 2010 - 1:25 AM

Congrats on the install!

As others have said, nothing has pissed me off as much as installing a rear swaybar, I can't even remember how I got it on. Think I just went **** it, push!

Great modification, worth the effort!!!

Some good tread for the snow, you can see the green from the new ST swaybars

In the Snow

Not sure why, but i love this shot

I love this camera, takes some awesome shots, lemme know what ya think

Posted by: NOVAKx17 Jan 12, 2011 - 10:21 AM

i like the new camera! it does take some pretty nice shots, i'd have to agree!

any new plans for the celica for the new year?! (=

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Jan 12, 2011 - 9:36 PM

Thanks, but as far as the new year nothing till spring and then a drum to disc swap and 25mm spacers front and rear, and i will probably drop her another 1/2 inch or so

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Feb 3, 2011 - 11:01 AM

Oh yeah, disc brakes will be on soon!
Also pretty sure spacers will be ordered within the next month

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Feb 8, 2011 - 11:58 AM

Finally Gave in and bought me some 25mm spacers, cant wait to see my flushness ha ha
and hopefully my rear brake swap from ACMOE will be at my house today, its nice to have money again

Posted by: HectortheRican Feb 8, 2011 - 12:00 PM

I think I may be getting 25mm spacers in the very near future too. Can't wait to see your flushness!

Posted by: mak5603 Feb 8, 2011 - 12:25 PM

25mm ftw! Glad to see more and more celicas getting hooked up with spacers.

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Feb 8, 2011 - 1:04 PM

I just need to find someone with a fender roller that i can use for the rears, and then from there the coils will be adjusted lower he he

Posted by: mak5603 Feb 8, 2011 - 3:41 PM

LUUUUCKY, thats going to look sick. I want coils bad.

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Feb 8, 2011 - 8:14 PM

i love mine, ride is a little on the rough side, but with the swaybars the car handles like crazy

Posted by: jordisonjr Feb 9, 2011 - 12:40 AM

You should be able to rent them from a local shop,if not just use a rubber mallet and a heat gun, we did it on my buddies silvia and it worked great

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Feb 9, 2011 - 10:06 AM

Only issue with the mallet is remember when i got hit last year? they put some bondo in there, so slow and lots of heat would be the best option for me, im hoping that some of the local guys may have one

Posted by: jordisonjr Feb 9, 2011 - 1:42 PM

Oh yea, that may not be the best idea then.

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Feb 9, 2011 - 10:40 PM

Thought about it but i think one of my friends has an eastwood roller which will make it nice

Posted by: SupraKid Feb 10, 2011 - 4:50 AM

Bondo is only going to "move" to a certain degree. It depends how much you put on but id be really weary about doing that as it may crack then ull have to sand that area down, rebondo and repaint..

Heat gun and mallet is a horrible way to "roll" fenders compared to using a roller, saying they are so damned cheap to rent.

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Feb 10, 2011 - 9:14 AM

I didnt put the bondo there, i was busy around the time i got hit and decided to pay someone else to fix it for me, but it looks like the bondo there is minimal, so what is there will hopefully stretch just a bit, and trying to figure out now if i can compress the front anymore... but i cant wait for the spacers to get here they shipped yesterday, but it may be a little while before they go on, i still have to find a day im off work and the wife will stop nagging me

Posted by: whatthe Feb 10, 2011 - 9:47 AM

^ Wait what your married?!?

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Feb 10, 2011 - 11:23 AM

Might as well be

Posted by: SupraKid Feb 10, 2011 - 2:02 PM

Gf problems Kyle? It's common knowledge that if your under 30 you can't have a nice celica and girl at the same time.

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Feb 17, 2011 - 9:10 AM

Women are always the problem.... besides brakes, took me and a friend about 5 hours to put on the disc swap, and there is a way to replace the cables without actually removing part of your exhaust, but the main issue was not being able to fit the disc over the brake pads for the internal parking brake, pretty sure i had everything on there right, as far as the springs go, but it wouldnt slide on, ended up filing down the pads to get the rotor to slide over

Posted by: mkernz22 Feb 17, 2011 - 9:17 AM

if the disc wasn't going over your pads, that means something really isnt adjusted right...
my left rear ebrake partially locked on me, and I was still able to get the disc on and off with no problem.

Posted by: SupraKid Feb 17, 2011 - 3:08 PM

Kyle, there is a star adjuster you should have adjusted to get the rotor to slide on, its how you adjust the parking brake once the rotor is on.You use a screwdriver and spin the teeth clock wise or counterclockwise, which spins the cylinder over a threaded cylinder and lengthens or shortens, it sits between the bottom of the 2 pads.

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Feb 17, 2011 - 4:54 PM

It was weird, yeah i know about the star adjuster and it was all the way tucked all the way in and there was slack on the ebrake cable, it was definately odd,
Anyway i beat the rotor on with a deadblow and drove it till it loosened up lol, i was going on hour #8 of the install and was getting short tempered, but its all good now
Oh and the spacers are here, but i need to roll my rears, which will hopefully be done next tuesday and then the spacers will go on, and i will be going lower, then once the weather breaks for good the splitters are going back on.... still debating on the blacktop or silvertop swap though, it may happen..... but then again it may not i need to buy a truck for work so there may go that money

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Feb 28, 2011 - 9:16 PM

So, decided to fit the spacers today, the rear still needs to be rolled but that will be done soon hopefully.... here are some teaser pics of my dirty ass car and garage

Posted by: HectortheRican Feb 28, 2011 - 9:18 PM

Mmmmm nice....

Gaw, I don't know whether i wanna get spacers or S/T sways now. mad.gif

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Feb 28, 2011 - 9:25 PM

He he i have both..... get sways, everyone else can see rims, but you can feel the difference in the sways, personally i would pick sways over stance any day of the week

Posted by: HectortheRican Feb 28, 2011 - 9:27 PM

Hmm... well I DO have a kickass road to have some fun on over here... (4,000 feet to the top, loads of fun on the way down. Perfect mountain/scenic/togue road)

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Feb 28, 2011 - 10:14 PM

Yeah i really need to roll these fenders

Posted by: SupraKid Mar 1, 2011 - 12:00 AM

I'd vote sways hector. Damn, for some reason i dont like it kindasad.gif...idk maybe its just the pictures but im putting my 7th gens up FS...

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Mar 1, 2011 - 8:41 AM

Problem is it needs to be lower, im adjusting the coils once i have the rear rolled or i will destroy my back quarters and tires

Posted by: whatthe Mar 1, 2011 - 9:10 AM

sways > spacers

Wheels loos good.

Roll the fenders and a tad bit more neg camber on all 4 corners. Just a wee bit. You'll be dropping panties everywhere.

Posted by: Ted95 Mar 1, 2011 - 3:19 PM

did you have to extend your studs? or is there enough thread? looks reallly good bro

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Mar 2, 2011 - 10:11 AM

i bought the bolt on spacers, not really a fan of the extended studs, makes me nervous for some reason

ahh ok, thats a good idea tho.

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Mar 2, 2011 - 10:13 PM

Soooo today i got tired of waiting on dude with a fender roller so went to work with a mallet, and it turned out really well actually, so the spacers are on and she got a little more of a drop, right around 15mm, more pics tomorrow when she is clean

Posted by: jordisonjr Mar 3, 2011 - 1:12 AM

Damn!
That's like THEE perfect ride height with those rims/tires.
Looks sick!

Posted by: SupraKid Mar 3, 2011 - 1:52 AM

Posted by: mak5603 Mar 3, 2011 - 2:45 AM

Looks good man, can't wait to see it with your splitters on.

Posted by: delusionz Mar 3, 2011 - 4:39 AM

hella flush!

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Mar 3, 2011 - 8:31 AM

So apparently i need to beat the fenders in some more, driving to campus this morning all i heard was rubbing everytime i hit a bump or took a turn, so the hammer will be coming back out.... and some touch up paint lol... some more pics, i was going to wash her but its retarded cold again

Posted by: 95celgt Mar 3, 2011 - 9:29 AM

Just stiffen her silly, thats what I did on the old tein SS, the ride hurt my kidneys but no tire rub on HUGE spacers..

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Mar 3, 2011 - 11:30 AM

i did stiffen the rear lol, still has enough bounce to rub

Posted by: mak5603 Mar 3, 2011 - 1:19 PM

Now imagine a spring/strut combo, 17's, and 25mm spacers if you think that rubbings bad, haha.

Posted by: playr158 Mar 3, 2011 - 7:37 PM

You need a fender roller, but it looks good!

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Mar 6, 2011 - 12:39 PM

yeah a fender roller would be nice,
but anyways, before i left for vacation i started refinishing my wheels, now they are primed but im stuck on what color to paint them.... im sort of tied between going with white wheels, or staying with the darker gun metal look... thoughts?

Posted by: mak5603 Mar 6, 2011 - 12:46 PM

Lol, I told you I thought white would look sick way back before you painted them the first time and you didn't like it. I think it looks good as I see a lot of pastel or close colored cars with white wheels that I think look awesome. Maybe at least try it out, because they will get super dirty. But the color you had them looks great too.

Hahaha your slicing your tyres. Good times i remember when i did that. Really gave me the ****s.

Posted by: playr158 Mar 6, 2011 - 1:55 PM

Stick with the dark gunmetal.

Posted by: HectortheRican Mar 6, 2011 - 2:39 PM

I say the gunmetal. White looks good, but on darker cars.

Ha ha yeah most of that is gone now i hope or the hammer is coming back out
and i really want to try white, but its just such a hard color to keep looking good which is why i didnt do it the first time, still not sure though..

Posted by: whatthe Mar 6, 2011 - 9:01 PM

Oem silver... just saying ;0

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Mar 11, 2011 - 9:22 PM

So tired of rubbing, every time i hit a bump i rub, think the car will be coming back up, not much. but just enough so i can retain functionality of it, hate to do it but also hate rubbing everywhere i go

Posted by: playr158 Mar 15, 2011 - 12:19 AM

^I can understand that
If i put more than 1 person in my dub, its nonstop rubbing. and so much for aggressive turning laugh.gif

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Mar 16, 2011 - 6:24 PM

Lol what agressive tuning laugh.gif laugh.gif

Yaaaayyyyyy, it was finally warm enough on a day when i wasn't busy as hell so i actually got to put the splitters on and wash her..... still rubbing though, but its cool, it gets quiter when the gas gets lower lol

Posted by: HectortheRican Mar 16, 2011 - 6:45 PM

That looks sexayyyyyy. Hurry up and roll them fenders lol

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Mar 16, 2011 - 7:51 PM

the fenders are rolled, but they need to be rolled more, im waiting on a guy around here to let me borrow his eastwood roller

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Mar 31, 2011 - 2:38 PM

Haven't really updated in awhile, been doing alot of work and alot of research.
-first off, some a$$hat hit my rear fender and took off about a week ago, so trying to fix that, and they keep giving me the wrong shade of paint.
-Fenders are now rolled in rear no more rubbing
-Spending has begun for the 3S swap, pod, Afm wideband, oil press, and boost gauges have all been ordered
-looking for gaskets and such now, and also need to get in touch with _Jim_ about a motor
-Plan is to have the 3s by end of the summer, but so far the list is looking pricey, good stuff to come here shortly stay tuned!

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Apr 8, 2011 - 8:43 AM

Allright Folks, lots of parts coming in this week
-Apexi intake filter
-Oil pressure, Boost, and data logging wide band came in yesterday
-Kirk Motor mounts are in
-Rear 1/4 panel is painted (again)..... and still not matching FML
-got the gauge pod in
Just need to go ahead and wire everything up and well be set, and getting the bung welded in the test pipe

Posted by: Ted95 Apr 8, 2011 - 10:04 AM

car looks good bro, the spacers and the rear splits look nasty!

and congrats on starting to get stuff for the 3s swap. but listen lol take it from me, its a veryyy pricey project for a kid who is workin at a grocery store like myself lol. take your time and dont skimp out on anything. my 3s swap has already reached a year and i havent even put it in yet lol. (its going in the beginning of May biggrin.gif ) but seriosuly, take your time and dont rush it, bc its going to get costly fast. good luck kyle!

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Apr 8, 2011 - 10:52 AM

Oh yeah, i've got about a 3pg spread sheet of random parts and fittings i need for the motor, list says about 3500 more as of now, but im sure that will change

Yeah, but hell whats money anyways? im already up to my arse in student loans, so whats another 5 grand lol

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Apr 26, 2011 - 11:16 AM

So small update here, few days ago i finally got the bung welded into the test pipe for the wideband 02 sensor, yes on a 7a (i got tired of having a 200 gauge that did nothing lol. now i need to fix an exhaust leak where i fudged up the gaskets but oh well, and buying a parts GT here in a couple weeks that i will be pulling parts off of for the swap.
Still looking for a 3rd gen 3sgte though, trying to find a reputable place to buy one from, messaged _Jim_ a couple times but no responce so still on the hunt, coming into a little bit of money here soon so some more buying will start soon! keep posted for updates

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Apr 27, 2011 - 11:30 AM

Posted by: 96stgreendemon May 28, 2011 - 7:29 PM

Yes it is a WRC edition GT4! main difference you can see from this pic is the way the exhaust manifold heat shield is, different shape than others, for the lol "anti-lag".... yeeaah.....
but yeah gasket replacement kit, timing belt, cap and rotor, water pump and other misc parts

Posted by: Tigawoods May 28, 2011 - 7:38 PM

does this make cars go faster? i could have sent you a couple stickers for free. woulda been the same end result just alot cheaper

well i decided on keeping it mostly stock for now, money is tight after buying the clip, a new DP is in order and i will be keeping the w2a IC setup rather than the front mount i wanted, but that will all come in due time
and to get it in really i just need to do a tune up/gaskets/timing and water pump
and i need Shift linkage for the s54 and a throttle cable and im basically set, plus fluids lol

Posted by: Needles May 29, 2011 - 6:09 PM

oh and are you keeping the gt-4 chassis tag or the e154f tranny?

Well i finally had a spare second tonight so i thought i would add some pics.... and its about damn time

ended up unbolting the subframe and dropping the engine out the bottom, made life alot easier

MMMH tasty

Cams look great! not a mark on them, and they were that clean when i pulled the vc

So many questions can be raised from this picture lol.....

Soooo F%cking clean

For now the name of the game is maintenance, so far a full overhaul of the timing system (idler pullys, tensioner pullys, and tensioner), swapped waterpump and seal, pulled the upper and lower oil pans and cleaned/resealed. replaced oil pump gasket, front main gasket, cam shaft seals, and other misc things. waiting now on timing belt and plugs/wires to get this show on the road.... goal is to have the motor in the second week of july, but that all depends on if i can get this transmission or not, looking for an e153, found a couple but seller backed out, back to the garage for me!

lmao good shiit bro .. things are lookin good so far, did you already buy the clutch setup for an e153?

Posted by: 96stgreendemon Jul 3, 2011 - 7:18 AM

Yeah, clutch setup was purchased from southbend a few weeks back, went with their stage 2 setup which should hold up just fine.
As far as progress goes this week should be entertaining, I was on vacation this past week but did a lot of shopping for the car while I was there, sold the W2A system, bought the piping for my front mount, bought new plugs, wires, and a wolboro 255. Got my lsd inner axles, and found an E153 lsd that I'm waiting for, only a few small details left to get and we should be ready to go in! This week should be full of win! And on another note I want a clear upper timing cover lol, and may have found a place to make them, but would need at least 25 pieces to get them to make them, anyone else be interested in one for the 3rd gen?

So doing a slight tuck on the motor and relocating some vac lines, i am removing the factory boost controller but, can i also remove these two plugs?

And this black vac line here goes to the intake mani, therefore the cap can just be placed on the other side correct?

now this one, should be easy, the two lower lines in the picture are coolant lines correct? therefore they can be removed and the lines bridged together without issue? and that larger hose (from what i measure 1/2" ID that can be capped at the sensor on the tb or no?

and just a nice pic of the motor.... in a finished basement..... covered in car parts... i know looks like **** lol

Posted by: DG_Performance Jul 17, 2011 - 10:40 PM

Can't cap the large hose that is how the car idles. Needs to run to air intake box or intake pipe. I've never seen the vac line stuff u got sitting on the box of gloves. My gen 3 don't have em. Where were they running to...

Really starting to get pissed now, been waiting on my LSD diff for a month now, that's what's holding the entire swap up, and class is about to start back up which sucks because now idk when I will be able to swap. Just disappointed mostly

Jeez man, who you buy from? Jim?

Out of curiosity, what will you do with the 7A? I'd be interested in your header and midpipe, assuming it's modified to fit already.

So its update time!
-wednesday night the 7a was pulled along with ac lines and such that will be replaced
-Thursday i began to scrape seam sealer from the engine bay to seam weld it to make it a more ridgid frame (the rest of the car will be done this winter!)
-so yesterday i had the entire day off so i finished seam welding the bay and resprayed the engine bay, had some friends come over last night and we began to start to get it all back together. Got the rear main done on the 3s, Had the Flywheel on, put the clutch and pressure plate on, and then had problems with teh transmission that i still need to figure out which haulted us for the night. no idea why but the transmission is locked up, the input shaft is spinning when in neutral, but wont spin when its in gear. this means first thing tomorrow morning i have to tear back into the transmission and figure out what is going on with it, really bummed but hopefully its something simple, just a big pain in the ass having to pull it all back apart when i was already there once before. but i will update with pictures when i have teh chance

if I'm not mistaking, you should NOT be able to spin the trans by hand when in gear. if you put axles and hook it up to the hub / tire, you " may " be able to spin the tire and the input shaft should spin, but I don't think you can spin the input shaft by hand while in gear.

when in neutral, if you spin the input shaft, can you see the differential spinning ?

So fixed the trans problem, had to swap out duff rungs and forgot to before I installed the LSD, so that's fixed now. Motor went in yesterday, rad got hooked up, wiring work got started, just gotta get everything situated, planning on a late night tonight and hoping that I can get her fired up tonight if all goes as planned! Wish me luck folks
