Just bought a 94 celica 5 speed standard. Don't know engine type or chassis type or transmission type. Has cold air intake. It's a 1.8 4L but want to add a turbo. I want to build a track worthy car. What engine and transmission combo would be best?

Sounds like you have the ST, chassis code AT200. Unfortunately the slowest version. I recommend giving this thread a good read, there are plenty of viable engine swaps to choose from depending on your goals. Turboing the 7A-FE (your engine) has been done but it is difficult and expensive. Many people on here strongly recommend against installing a turbo on the 7A just because of how pointless it is compared to spending that money on a new engine. I have an ST myself and I wouldn't turbo it even if the parts fell into my lap.

I'll be the cranky forum guy... Sorry, but why even post this thread? Take the five minutes to do your research on your car and figure out from the NUMEROUS threads. Please don't join a forum and ask a bunch of questions that have been answered thousands of times. A quick google search with "6gc" in the title will you get VERY far.

There was a guy that stuffed a T58-8F in. Should fit no problem with some minor modifications. With that level of horsepower, it's gonna be a Race Car for sure. Here, found the link for you.

Welcome. You have a lot of reading to do. Use google to search (6gc.net: "search terms") as the search engine here is not as effective.

Your best bet is to fit a generic eBay 7th gen Celica short shifter with bushings, stiffer sway bars, the front strut bar from a Celica GT, aftermarket rear strut bar, replace the springs and struts, and most importantly some lightweight wheels and sticky tires. Take it autocrossing and forget about track days for now.

Cut springs and an eBay electric supercharger will have you stomping everybody in your neighborhood in no time.

I have looked online and there are many options. I want other opinions before I spend money doing something dumb. Like turbo the 7a. Which has crossed my mind. I've looked at the electric supercharger as well. What are the pros and cons to the electric supercharger?

Haha! You just made my Friday... He'll need four alternators though, to keep up with the heavy draw from the supercharger.

the first questions im going to throw to you. How much loose change youve got. 4K, 6K, 9K. Not going places if you aint got money. these engine swaps are not free. And you mention race car... roll cage will be 2K, thats not to mention brake and rotor upgrades, seatbelt and harness upgrades...

I'm aware it's going to cost. I already bought the roll cage and 6 point harness. I'm taking glass out today. It will have drilled and grooved rotors. Calipers will also be after market. I've got speacilized windshield rear window and passenger windows coming. Net for the driver side. Doors will be welded this weekend. One other thing I thought about is rebuilding the engine with after markets and machines the pistons to come to a point. I've been saving up for this for a really long time. It was just finding the right car for me.

Listen to SwissFerdi, I double what he says and will add brakes in addition. Forget about making power with the 7A, just get that notion out of your mind. Ok, now that we're getting somewhere if you want power you have 3 feasible options; 3S-GTE, BEAMS 3S-GE, or 1MZ/3MZ. Any will require the S54 or E153 transmission. Really if you wanted to swap you should've gotten a GT to save some headache, the ST makes for a great fuel saver though.

A 3sge beams will more than likely come with a helical lsd. But you have to verify it before the purchase.

QUOTE (BonzaiCelica @ Aug 13, 2013 - 7:45 PM) *
upgrading to 94-96 avalon/es300 twin piston calipers are a 13.78% more braking power. although not much it is a better option than those guys upgrading from st to gt brake set up. even gt can do this for cheap and get good high speed braking capability, so that your brakes wont shake.

QUOTE (BonzaiCelica @ Sep 20, 2017 - 2:01 AM) *
If you guys want even more stopping power get the 2003-2008 Avensis front disc rotor 295mm and 2001-2003 ES300 brake caliper.

Avensis front rotor n single piston caliper fit in 7gc no problem.

The rotor of the avensis n es300 are 95% identical. The es300 has a 28mm thickness while avensis is 26mm. The es300 gets twin piston caliper!

Or even. Better get front superstrut components from an st205 n use the brake set up!

like everyone said, a 3s will be alot easier to make power out of.
but if you are set on the 7a, be ready to spend alot more. it's been done before.
here's one of my favorite builds:
