All minor prices to pay to have your baby here. What wasn't a minor price to pay was the actual price of getting the car here. Personally, I'd want someone's head on a stick if this happened to my car. It just shows that you're a better man than I. I don't understand how all of this happened though... I guess the car has sat unused for quite a long time. It's too bad that we aren't closer together. I'd love to get some wrench time in and help you out restoring this car back to former glory.

808 Im sure ur reading this and Im sure this pic will make u cry, cuz I now how important paint is to u, as is to me. You can only imagine how I felt when I saw this.

Posted by: MaskedMan Feb 23, 2011 - 3:03 AM

frown.gif The paint saddens me. But with a little work, it will be as good as new smile.gif.
It must feel great to be reunited with your Celica biggrin.gif.

Posted by: malpaso Feb 23, 2011 - 3:18 AM

amazing work... view to the RHD interior recalled a lot of nice memories I have smile.gif

Posted by: delusionz Feb 23, 2011 - 5:01 AM

So are you going to register that and drive it in the states as RHD?

Does it have to do with it being your personal possession in Japan that makes it possible to do this?

Posted by: 3WayStunna Feb 23, 2011 - 6:40 AM

You know Joe, its all fun in games having a rhd car in america. Until you hit that drive thru, lol....But your car did get nicked up pretty bad in the back. Looks to be easily repaired though. Also, who took the engine out? I think i missed that memo?!?!?

Posted by: malpaso Feb 23, 2011 - 6:59 AM

I drove 8000miles with my car as RHD in LHD countries so I know how it feels... and I can tell if I could register it as is I would keep it RHD and not converting at all smile.gif. It is completely different view on the world from other side of the car wink.gif.

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Feb 23, 2011 - 6:46 PM

Started sanding on the rear bumper today, just to remove the clear coat and getting ready for fiberglass and bondo.

Posted by: richee3 Feb 23, 2011 - 8:48 PM

What happened to the motor? confused.gif I guess that's why you had to tow it back?

Posted by: 95celgt Feb 24, 2011 - 11:03 AM

Probably had to remove it to ship the car and not cause so much headache at customs...thats how most RHD cars came in back in the day...

So did you order 3rd gen 3s yet joe? wink.gif

QUOTE (richee3 @ Feb 23, 2011 - 7:48 PM) *

Motor is securely wrapped waiting to get traded or junked for a 3sgte

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Mar 7, 2011 - 4:23 PM

Latest update: Painted my alternator and pulley today.

More to come, stay tuned, biggrin.gif

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Mar 7, 2011 - 8:31 PM

Figured since the motor was out, now would be a great oppurtunity to clean it up, so Today I tackled the intake manifold.

Notice how dirty the fourth pipe is compared to the first three.

After 3 hours with a wire brush and bath towel the results are obvious.

Amazing what patience and a wire brush can accomplish tongue.gif

Posted by: NOVAKx17 Mar 8, 2011 - 12:05 AM

Damn bro. looking fresh and clean!

keep up the sweet work. it'll look like a brand new engine when you get to put it back in!

Posted by: Batman722 Mar 8, 2011 - 12:43 AM

the intake mani looks nice but I'd be more worried about how it looks on the inside.
Make sure you use a new OEM gasket when reinstalling.

Posted by: 95celgt Mar 8, 2011 - 3:40 PM

so im assuming you're throwing the 3sfe back in to get her running, thats good.

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Mar 8, 2011 - 6:37 PM

Yup, just temporary, til I can save up enough for the a new one, lol.

Came to a good stopping point today, got the manifold all cleaned along with the fuel rail, block and head. Also "chipped away all the powder coating on my valve cover since it was all bubbled and cracked. Repainted it red and cleared it. Next thing is to get my intake manifold gasket, valve cover gasket, replace the clutch, vaccume lines and and wire loom, then drop her in.

Actually they do, every car in the world as a VIN. On JDM celica's there is a plate on the fire wall, which tells you the vin, engine number, and model number. The model number/vin(ST202-123456) is also stamped in the fire wall next to the strut mounting points. This VIN can be used to register the vehicle state-side, though the VIN is different in stature to a USDM vehicle the principle remains the same. Plus most states excluding CA. will take your J-title and and re-issue you a state title in return, atleast Missouri will.

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Mar 9, 2011 - 8:20 PM

Got quite a bit done today, pretty good day.

engine and tranny seperated. One thing about Okinawa, too much salt. Broke open my transmission today and found salt inside. I swear a wire brush is gonna be my best friend by the time I get this car runnin again.

clutch and pressure plate removed
Engine bolt up to the engine stand, found out not all the oil was drained, dont know how it made it through customs like that, but oh well

Will post pics as soon as I can.

ahh, my bad, forgot about that. thats cool though, keep us posted on the registering thing, I'll ahve to check with Oregon to see if they will do the same. You need to change anything to make it EPA/DOT compliant? Sorry for picking your brain but I'm going the same route as you. I just can't leave my baby here in Oki, lol!

yeah I used to worry about paint until the acid rain ate each wax job and the idiots parking around here gave me plenty of door dings >.<

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Mar 10, 2011 - 4:02 PM

Alright, alright latest updated pics, for everyone.

Powdercoating was bubbling pretty bad in OKi so I took it upon myself to fix the issue and just repaint the valve cover.

Just wanted to get an indea of what she will look like, so I mounted everything for visual purposes

Broke up my tranny yesturday, and to my surprise it was covered in sea salt

And here is the power plant, getting closer and closer to home everday.

Great news, should be dropping her back in next week some time. Im getting pretty excited, lol

Posted by: 95CelicaST Mar 10, 2011 - 6:23 PM

Your Brides - Are the real or replicas?

I was thinking of getting a set for my MR2, but they run stupid skinny... and while I am not a BIG person (size 33 pants), I do have decently wide shoulders (44ish?).

How do you like them, in terms of comfort?

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Mar 10, 2011 - 7:42 PM

Brides are real bro, odered straight from the factory when I was in Japan @ $1200 a seat. But the price is way worth the money in terms of comfort, clean up, and over all best choice!!!!!!

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Mar 12, 2011 - 10:17 PM

Redid the headliner today, came out good.

Droppin the engine tomorrow, Pretty excited

Posted by: yungazzdriver Mar 12, 2011 - 10:37 PM

Hey Joe I was wondering if you could possibly take a photo of the label on the bride seats so I can compare them to fake ones......

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Mar 12, 2011 - 10:38 PM

SUUURRREEEE, I post it up tomorrow tho, why u think u got fake ones, lol?

Posted by: richee3 Mar 12, 2011 - 10:40 PM

That headliner looks great thumbsup.gif

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Mar 12, 2011 - 10:42 PM

Appreciate it man, Its so much darker in my car now, I love it!!!!!

Posted by: yungazzdriver Mar 12, 2011 - 10:44 PM

I have recaro toplines and loooooove them Im just wondering about bride seats.....there are wayyyy to many fake brides to tell anymore...

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Mar 12, 2011 - 10:45 PM

Oh Trust me dude, Mine are real, I ordered straight from the factory in Tokyo when I was in Okinawa Japan, cost me 1200 at seat.

Posted by: yungazzdriver Mar 12, 2011 - 10:57 PM

I didnt mean yours are fake I mean so whenever I see some fake ones I can ward people away. See I own a car audio and custom shop and started selling sparco evos and recaro spg seats which are non reclinable but people want to recline so sportlines are nice but no one wants to pay the money for them so brides are a cheaper option but there are soooooo many fake ones that no one can even tell anymore......people even question the seats I sell......which are FIA certified of course...

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Mar 12, 2011 - 11:06 PM

Ah ok I got u

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Mar 16, 2011 - 10:53 PM

Alright, Greatest update I have to show. She is almost complete in on the road!!!!!!

Posted by: blackthunder Mar 17, 2011 - 9:23 PM

lookin' good, can't wait to see it on the road again!

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Mar 19, 2011 - 2:57 PM

Alrighty, she is almost done!!!!!!!

Only things left to do now it, wait for my Radfiator drain plug to come in since the garage in Okinawa lost mine, bleed to clutch, repaint the back bumper and left side skirt, and get her registered.

Here are a few updated pics:

As she currently sits with the NISSAN stocks on, lol

This motor should only be in for a short while til I can get my new one. Got rid of all the red wire cover and went bback to stock black. Still need to change the vaccum lines.

As every knows with Vincent Doggy's cooling plate it makes it very difficult to unlatch ur hood with the prop rod in the way. Well I have modified mine so I dont have to deal with that anymore.

And the cockpit:

Posted by: kar1 Mar 19, 2011 - 3:07 PM

lovng the rear bumper, although i'd be inclinced to fill the two little vent holes in on the mid section

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Mar 19, 2011 - 3:08 PM

The holes r wut attracted me to the rear bumper, lol

Posted by: kar1 Mar 19, 2011 - 3:17 PM

i like the TRD style sides on the bumper and the defuser

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Mar 19, 2011 - 7:52 PM

SHE'S ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and boi does she sound GREAT!!!!!

Posted by: mkernz22 Mar 19, 2011 - 8:19 PM

you know they do sell struts for the hood on ebay, right? wink.gif
and that's great to hear that she's finally alive!

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Mar 19, 2011 - 8:38 PM

Struts are to luxury for me, like to keep her sporty lookin, lol. Thanx for the advise tho man. The prop rod idea was more for others how dont care to much for struts as well.

Posted by: njccmd2002 Mar 19, 2011 - 10:27 PM

why is your date in april, i mean nobody has noticed it? we are in march...

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Mar 19, 2011 - 10:28 PM

Lol, good call bro

Posted by: richee3 Mar 27, 2011 - 9:21 PM

Now that it runs again, you need to drive it up to Illinois. It's not THAT far away... Lol.

Posted by: dudeofchaos Mar 30, 2011 - 11:46 AM

I like the TRD emblem on the engine head. I thought the glue would've melt and the emblem would come off.
Sick project man!

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Sep 1, 2011 - 3:21 PM

Posted by: NYp8tBaller07 Sep 1, 2011 - 4:46 PM

how did you do the headliner? new material or special spray paint?

My power goal is 350-400hp the fuel tank is just more fuel capacity really.

The headliner was done with black fleece that u can get from either wal-mart or ur local hobby shop and spray adhiesive.

How easy was it, it seems simple enough and cheap =). has it really made a big difference?

Here u go bro, this is a how-to that I made, I hope it helps out. As far as a difference there really itsnt much except that now my interior matches. Instead of all black panels and a grey headliner (factory) now my whole interior is black excpet the visors which I will do a some time down the road.

Just my opinion...your car would be really hot without the wing. The wing is just overkill 2fast2furious...But without it would look sleek and clean.

Posted by: matts94celica Oct 12, 2011 - 10:04 PM

Oem ftw. Trd wing or the gt-4 wing would look great. But it still a sexy looking celica smile.gif

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Oct 13, 2011 - 1:25 AM

Ive actually been thinking about going for the Gt4 spoiler with carbonfiber risers. I wanna get the cf raisers to compliment the cf splitter. Especially since its the only cf piece outside the car, lol
Plus after I do the motor swap this winter Im gonna get all the body work fixed n get it repained. Thats when I'll change out the spoilers as well.

Thanks for the opinion and thoughts guys. I will post more pics up as soon as I can. But feel free to give me any kind of advise, opinions, or anything thing else. Postive or negative.

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Oct 20, 2011 - 7:13 PM

Here's the lastest update. Build is going extremly slow due to funds, but still progressing.

I got bored of seeing my center consul without a lighter, felt like something was missing. After installing the fuel pressure and boost gauge last week, I thought Id keep the volt meter gauge for the audio system.

Tomorrow I will have to go back thru and clean up around the gauge and smooth out the wrinkles.

Posted by: 808celica Oct 21, 2011 - 1:06 AM

Solved the drive-thru problem yet?? laugh.gif

FORGET ALL YOU GUYS SAYING CHANGE THE WING!!!!

With or without it the car is a step up on what yours is, **** i'd trade my car with ALL my TRD goodies for this car

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Oct 21, 2011 - 9:39 AM

Thanks 808,

The only solution I have found for the drive thru is to park and eat inside, lol.

Latest update:

To all my friends here on 6gc that have been with me since the beginning, I can finally give u an update that even I am having trouble coming to terms with.

Its been a years since I left Japan and the Marine Corps. do to this and other factors, the build has slowed down quite a bit. But I can now say with the ut most excitement that this winter will mark the offical starting point of the legendary 3sgte swap in my st202. I have been offered a job as a mechanic for a well known oil rigging company known as Schlumberger in Alice Texas which Im excited to begin working for. It will be this job along with my Army Reserves that wil help me to finally achieve my goal of doing this swap.

I will keep u updated as the project takes flight.

Stay tuned.

Update 24/11/2011:
After years of emptiness I finally thought it was time for a small change. Installed new Pilot fogs that I picked up at autozone.

UPDATE 4/3/12

Well he build is on hold for the time being, I figured since she is at a good stopping point Id go ahead and help SexciCelicaChikk with her project as much as I can. Once we get hers to a good stopping point its back to the Samurai.

buy vincent doggy's replica trd spoiler. It'll flow much better than the round oem spoiler with riser blocks

Havent driven them together yet. And The reason behind the sucked look is a doughut. Had to swap the rims with my black car when I moved to Corpus Christi because the black had a blow out before I left.

This is going to be my next purchase probably next week.

*Update 5-16-2012*

After running the car for about an hour and driving it 2 laps around the parking lot, I noticed white smoke with blueish tint pouring out my exhaust. Not just a little bit either, alot. About the same amount you see in the winter time when its cold out. Before I had shipped the car Stetsonaw(older member) told me the same thing when we crused Okinawa. I belive my head gasket might be blown due to the ebay headers and the fact that the head gasket has been changed out at all since Ive had the car in 07' or probably anytime before that, so it might have probably been time for a new one anyway.

Posted by: mak5603 May 16, 2012 - 12:57 PM

Blue smoke is oil burning in the cylinder. So piston rings are fried or valve guide seals. Or both. Yours sounds like piston rings to me unfortunately. kindasad.gif

Blown head gasket would more than likely be white smoke as water and coolant is entering the cylinder.

I guess it could be both though. Either way, good thing you are doing a 3sgte soon. You should compression check it to see what cylinder(s) it is. Then you'll know for sure.

Edit: I dont undrstand why the head gasket would blow due to ebay headers?

Posted by: SexciCelicaChikk May 27, 2012 - 10:22 PM

I told him i could smell the oil burning ... yes my car looks high compared to his but just wait ... I will get to that level :-)

As of right now the car will not be ready til next year when I get back from Afghanistan. While Im deployed is when I will purchase more parts.

Does anyone know if the 3sfe A/C compressor will work with the 3gste? Ive been trying and trying but cant seem to get it mounted to the block. Tho they look the same, the line connectors a different.

Nice! Already got the motor in, good work!

Posted by: richee3 Jul 13, 2012 - 3:06 PM

As I understand it, you have most of the wiring harness but not the relays/fusebox, correct? I have a spare ST204 and BEAMS box laying around if you need them. You might be able to solder it to your existing harness and you'll be good to go.

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Jul 13, 2012 - 11:16 PM

Well Ive been talkin to pipes and he is gonna hook me up with a 3rd gen ECU n Harness. So all I will really need after that is the intercooler water pump relay and box.

*UPDATE 08-08-12*

I finally got my parts ordered, now just waiting for them to come in.

Heat exchanger

Intercooler water pump

(2) 7" cooling fans

Posted by: rave2n Aug 8, 2012 - 6:42 PM

thumbsup.gif Good stuff, I'll be following suit shortly biggrin.gif

Once I get this timing situation done (Would have been done tonight if I didn't crank the idler pulley down to hard, and turn the crank skipping the belt and messing up TDC), and the engine button'ed up I'll jump back on those relays.

I was going to use a programmable, but there are none out there that can handle the amps going through these relays. So going to buy a pretty box for them, and get the wiring going soon. Less than 2 weeks.

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Aug 8, 2012 - 6:43 PM

I was thinking of doing the same thing

Posted by: SexciCelicaChikk Aug 13, 2012 - 4:23 PM

*UPDATE 08-13-12*
So the mail man is been generous these last couple of days delivering part after part after part.
I recieved my heat exchanger, water pump, and cooling fans. Sadly to say the water pump is a lot smaller than I orginally expected, wondering if I in fact got the right?

Water Pump

Cooling Fans

Heat Exchanger

I also took time and got the fans mounted on the exchanger. Came out pretty well If I do say so myself

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Aug 13, 2012 - 4:30 PM

I just realized I was signed in under the wife when I posted this, lol.

Posted by: Smaay Aug 14, 2012 - 3:36 PM

awesome build man, keep it up and keep posting pics!

Posted by: Box Aug 14, 2012 - 5:38 PM

Woo progress!

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Aug 14, 2012 - 7:11 PM

Test fitted the heat exchanger today, texted the cooling fans. The fittment is spot on, will probably need to use all thread with nuts on each side of the mounting tabs of the heat exchanger. One side to mark placement, and other side to secure the exchanger. Also got the intercooler water pump and cooling fans wired up to my "ACC" wire, so when the vehicle electronics turned on the water pump automaticly starts pumping and cooling fans automaticly starts cooling. Next on the list is to do is connect the water lines from the TMIC to the pump, exchanger, and back to the TMIC.

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Aug 15, 2012 - 7:59 PM

*UPDATE 08-15-12*

Got my wiring harness in today!!!!!! Thanks again pipes. Spent most of the day cutting and splicing. But got the harness, cooling, fans, and intercooler water pump all wired up. she is about 86% done now. All thats left is purchasing an injector pump relay pack, bolting the 3sfe a/c compressor to the block if i can ever figure out how, attaching my hoses from the exchanger to the TMIC, filling the engine, the radiator, TMIC, and correcting any code 54's I might have. More updates soon to come. As always

STAY TUNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As I promised you guys, there will be alot of updates these next 6 months so make sure u stay tuned especially the last few months of this year once everything gets installed and she is ready for her first debut on the Streets of America as a true boosted RHD IMPORT from Okinawa Japan. Im so excited!!!!!!

Posted by: Tigawoods Mar 18, 2013 - 10:34 AM

were you able to get a set of rear 205 calipers?

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Mar 18, 2013 - 11:27 AM

I can get them, but I'm debating whether I should or not plus I still need to order my front rotors which arent cheap. What would be the advantage to having them and what brake pads are replaceable with them ie. Supra brake pads for the front?

Posted by: Tigawoods Mar 18, 2013 - 12:19 PM

It will even out the brake balance if you ave all 4 corners upgraded.

If you really dont think you have the $ for it right now, you could just throw a set of aggressive pads in the stock rear calipers, and more mild ones up front 205 calipers to even out the balance a slight bit, the ghetto way haha

the 205 calipers will take pads made for a TT supra

Id suggest grabbing the rears if you can though.

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Mar 18, 2013 - 12:54 PM

Thanks Tiga, will deff consider it. Right now Im working with Bsamps about getting a custom b-pipe made from my DP to my cat since I can't seem to find one anywhere. As most of you have seen, I have ordered a good amount of parts over these nine months and am looking to order a few more upon my return. It will finally be nice to get back home, back to work, andhopefully to finally make it to a long awaited meet.

Thank you everyone for your support during this deployment and keeping us in your prayers.

*UpdATE 12/12/13*

So if most of you don't know yet, I am back home from deployment. Made it back safe and sound as I promised. Now its time to get back to work, my job and my baby. I worked on her a little bit yesterday and actually got quite a bit accomplished. I installed my HKS BOV, Boost Controller, and removed the front sway bar(which was way easier than expected), also Painted my 205 calipers and bought from my local parts store(Autozone) my TT Supra Rotors and Break pads. Still got a bit more to do, but the intent is to have her up and running by the beginning of the spring time. I will post pics as soon as I can so as always Stay tuned.

What are the rotors off and the size?
Are they a direct fit?

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Dec 16, 2013 - 7:48 PM

They are from a TT supra so no they are not direct fit. In order for them to work the stud points need to be drilled to 5x100. A supras stud spacing is at 5x114. Nothing a drill press can't fix.

But in other news, progress was slow but steady this evening. Got my clutch ordered and got the new front sway bar bolted up. I have to say it was a lot easier and less time constraining getting the old one out than it was getting the new one in. Tomorrow should be a little more productive, going to write up my fuel pump relay and intercooler relay, as well as wiring my heat exchanger fans to my radiator fans rather them being on constant run. As far as parts on order. I have a new oil catch can (old one it's shot somehow has stripped threads on the fittings) engine came without top mount over flow tank so rather the searching endlessly for a new one, I ordered a radiator breather tank that I will be using as a reservoir tank instead. Ordered new coilovers by Megan since my tunabes are shot as well. And lasltly my windshield washer pump, mine has stopped pumping since her final days in Japan so thinking it's time for a new one. Next order hourly will be my ssIII Rear seats, and paint. I well post pics as often as I can so stayed tuned and keep the advice and opinions coming, I always love to hear from you guys.

Thanx

*UPDATE 12/23/13*
Just a small update, recieved my clutch in the mail today. Given the busy work week I havent had much time to really work on her as much as Id like to. But the process is slowly coming along further and further each week. If everything continue to go smoothly I should be looking at having on the road as soon as early spring. Once I get her running I will tackle the interior a little bit by reupholstering the headlinger with black leather rather than the current fleece material finishing of with some SSIII Rear seats. Fallowed by taking her into the body shop and having all the minor dings scratches and chips repaired.

As always STAY TUNED.

*UPDATE 01-09-14*
Well I've reached the point that my knowledge and expierence could take me. Unfortunatly I had to rely on some outside help, so I sent her to a local shop and let them work on the finishing touches to get her up and running again. These touches include: Changing out my flywheel, clutch, building a custom B-pipe from the down pipe to the cat, and solving the mystery of why the ECU isnt sending the single to the fuel pump to operate even after checking and rechecking the wiring, pump itself, and relays. They are steadily working on her and I should get her back and finally running by Tuesday the latest. After that I will be finishing up my suspension with brand new megan racing coilovers and buttoning up the rear sway bar then the next and final stop will be paint, with same color code with a hint of little extras that hope you all will enjoy. Until then stay tuned.

*UPDATE 3-11-14*

I know it's been a while since I've updated on the project and most of you who have been there since the beginning are wandering what the hell is going on with it or if I even still own the car. Lol, you can rest assure I do still own the car and currently still building it. She is still in the shop, the mechanics are working and doing their best to fix any and all little issues and gremlins that the car has. This way I won't have to go back for a while. So far I've had to replace the fuel pump, transmission, clutch, axles, and knock sensor. Ordered a valve cover from Jason tx since mine was cracked. Also ordered both the upper and lower oil pans from him as well since mine received quite a bit of damage during shipment. Once the car is finished at the shop her next stop will be the paint shop where she'll get a whole new make over in dent repair, paint and even a new spoiler, once completed I'll throw some new shoes on her upgrading to 18" instead my original 17s and brand new coilovers. She'll also be reviving a brake upgrade with st205 front and rear calipers, supra front rotors, and OEM rears. As I count down the days, I get more Anna more excited to get her back and back behind the wheel. I will update add much add I can when I can and also provide as many pictures as I can.

AS ALWAYS, STAY TUNED!!!!!!

*UPDATE 3-13-14*

Ok the time has come for me to reveal some sneak peak pics of everything that has been happening to the car since I've been back from Afghanistan. As I stated while I was deployed, "I couldn't wait to get back and get to work on her" and that is exactly what I've been doing. Aside from waiting for the shop to finish up the las minor details so I can get her into paint and on the road by the summer.

!!!WARNING YOU ARE ABOUT TO VIEW A S**T LOAD OF PICTURES!!!!!!

Let's take a look at the Interior Trim
I got tired of faking the fumk with carbon decal wrap and decided to talk to yellowchinaman about some real carbonfiber and I must say is work is magnificant.

Now on the the Suspension. I decided to change out my Tanabe coilovers and go with a set of Megans. Since I had already installed a set on a celica previously and got to test them I was over all satisified with the ride and decided to go with their EZ street setup. Since I was going to change them out and I already had strut bars in the front and rear, I figured why not change out the front and rear sway bars as well for a stiffer ride and and more ridgity around the corners. So I pick up a set of ST front and rears.

Here is the OEM and ST Front, Unfortunately I dont have comparrison pics of the rears, sorry guys.

To go along with the suspension I picked up some 2" spacers and st 205 front calipers. I still need a set of rears before I install the whole setup.

So next on my modifications list was to upgrade the factory heat exchanger to a slightly bit thincker one. The idea is that it would allow more water to pass through intercooler and with more fins it would also allow the water to cool faster as it return back to the top mount. Another idea I had incorporated was two 6" electric pulling fans that are wired into the radiator fan relay, therefore pulling in twice as much air for the intercooler and radiator as the fans kick on.

Rather than leaving the heat exchanger silver and drawing unwanted attention to myself I decided to go for more of a modest look and stay true to factory settings.

Another issue I had with the engine while I did swap was it came without an overflow tank for the top mount. So what did I do? I improvised Not to mention I figured it'd be best to order a new catch can as well this way for some odd reason there isnt any cross contamination with the old catch can from the old engine.

great stuff. one thing id suggest is painting the grills black and then putting a clear coat on them so they won't rust int he future...

i just think you should do that so the attention of the front bumper goes to the headlights and diffuser

I don't have any suggestions, I just never figured you'd be the one to get a stock GT4 wing. It doesn't seem to fit you since you've always your car to be unlike anyone else's.

Posted by: Lil-Joe101 Mar 16, 2014 - 6:09 PM

You got me on that. I figured Id change it up and sometimes that means you have too change your mode of thinking sometimes. Looking at the car in its entirety its flow is off just a hair. Yes the color matching is good but it doesnt follow through and neither do it lines. For example I have a carbonfiber splitter but nowhere else outside do I have carbonfiber to equal it out thats where the riser blocks come in so now I have cf in the front and rear. I have chrome rims but again, nowhere else. hince the black rims w/machine lip, chome to equal out with the exhaust and the support rods of the splitter. And lastly like playr said the wing is heavy. Its to the point now that the hatch cant even support the weight even with new struts and we all know through research that the gt4 spoiler is in fact very funtional. There you are Richee now you got a chance to see how my head works. Now it get out lol.

Thanks Ray, I'll take more pics as soon as I can and some of the interior as well.

Regardless of which wing is on it, it's still one of the most unique cars on here and just in getting it imported into the States you've already put more work into it than most guys ever will. I'm sure you can't wait to get it back on the road. smile.gif

So you could say, she'll feel like the first time? tongue.gif

I feel like the TRD spoiler would match the body kit more.

I think the gt4 spoiler is gonna be one of those things that have to grow on us. And once its fully grown we'll find it difficult to see the car without it.

What would you suggest than richee? I'm always open for suggestions.

I don't have any suggestions, I just never figured you'd be the one to get a stock GT4 wing. It doesn't seem to fit you since you've always your car to be unlike anyone else's.

^ THIS totally.

but hey, the thing about that is, you can always change it back or to whatever else you might want to.
either way, it's gonna look great. biggrin.gif

You know, Ive actually thought about that too. Does any know how well clear coat will cover and seal carbon vinyl? Granted Im not one for cheaping out on carbon fiber as Ray knows but Id like to have my rear diffuser a cabon material and Varis doesnt make it for the kit I have. I know clear coat is a urethane based compound so I figured it would cover a seal quite nicely giving the vinyle that cleared carbon look. Reason Im asking to equal out the carbon from the front splitter to the back with the diffuser.

Just make sure the clear coat is compatible with vinyl/plastics etc... There's more than just urethane clear; there's acrylic, lacquer, enamel, etc....
