6G Celicas Forums _ My Project _ TRD/SS-III Custom Build Thread

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Jul 10, 2014 - 10:25 PM

Hey guys,
My name is James and I am from Sydney Australia and am going to convert my current 1997 SX into an SS-III (some things may say the same due to preference).
To start off my car is sadly in the workshop after I had a minor crash after the car understeared kindasad.gif so currently I have a limited amount of money due to repairs, which I'm sure some of you understand haha. None the less I have bought a few things that i will be adding once the car is back in my hands smile.gif

These include:

JDM Tail Lights: $190 AUD (Including Postage) - From JoshuaM
http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/JDMTails_zps432b8bb4.jpg.html

OEM Fog Lights: $49 USD + $56 USD for postage - From Ebay
http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/FogLights_zpsdd09a77a.jpg.html

3 Part TRD Front Strut Brace: $410 AUD (Including Postage) - From JoshuaM
http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/TRDFrontBrace_zps24e13f3f.jpg.html

OEM Side Skirts: $25 AUD (Need to pick up)
http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/Sideskirts_zps2922a46e.jpg.html

GT-Four/SS-III WRC Spoiler/Wing: $80 AUD (Need to pick up)
http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/Spoiler_zpsc7e6f335.jpg.html

SS-III Rear Splitters: $180 AUD + $30 AUD postage - From JoshuaM
http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/IMG_2451_zpsaa81eb6a.jpg.html

SpreeLED Full Dash Conversion Kit (Blue): £24.99
http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/spreeled_zps29a81cb0.jpg.html

Will have to prepare some of what I have bought (Re-paint and sand) but when all done should look great!
Will keep all you 6GC members updated smile.gif I hope enjoy, awesome things on their way!

Awesome! Great to see you're starting a thread. Are you planning to finish it off with the BEAMS engine at some point in the future?

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Jul 11, 2014 - 4:01 AM

Thanks mate and yeah thats the plan smile.gif want to get the body all set first and then get to some performance, including the BEAMS Red Top Engine of course smile.gif Can't wait to see how it goes with around 200BHP!

Posted by: Barbershop Jul 11, 2014 - 8:09 AM

I am looking forward to following this thread! I hope you achieve your vision of what you want your celica to look like.

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Jul 11, 2014 - 8:23 AM

Thanks very much man, really appreciate it smile.gif I am also hoping to achieve the goal set, it may take a while but it'll come around in the end smile.gif

Hey guys, just a quick update on my car currently since I had my crash. The front left panel has been replaced and the left rear panel has been pulled out (still needs to be painted). A new left low beam headlight has been installed, as well as some new clear side indicators! I have also picked up the spoiler and side skirts and should be doing the side skirts at left in the next month or so and the spoiler when i have rear splitters on etc. (It's a bigger job due to my car being post facelift, therefore 3 post spoiler). Anyway guys here are so before and after pictures, I think its a really good job smile.gif

You did a pretty good job on that guard rail tongue.gif At least it was all cosmetic, no structural dramas to deal with.

See if you can get a package deal for the left rear paint, hatch paint, side skirts and splitters and then all the new paint will match itself. If its too expensive white isn't too hard to spray yourself on smaller pieces.

The courier just picked up your SSIII rear splitters, delivery in 2-3 business days. I paid for the additional redelivery too in case you miss the truck.

Also, the invoice came through from Japan last night for the TRD strut bar - you should have it by next Wednesday biggrin.gif

Thought about a certain white TOMS front lip? wink.gif

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Jul 15, 2014 - 2:02 AM

Yeah I think it was a really good job, the left front guard was from the wreckers and was already white! smile.gif and sadly there was structural damage, i needed new left suspension and a new left front wheel hub. and yeah i'll have to get some paint soon to do all that smile.gif and awesome man, really cannot wait to get them smile.gif thankyou again! And I'll be honest I have thought about it haha, but I think i prefer the look of just the plain SS-III Splitters for both rear and front haha tongue.gif

Posted by: MarbleFlame Jul 16, 2014 - 8:36 PM

Projectors!! NOW! tongue.gif Welcome mate, really is a great site here smile.gif

Posted by: RoadRage Jul 17, 2014 - 7:06 AM

Welcome, nice fix so far, cannot wait for the upgrades

I see josh has already hooked you up with plenty tongue.gif

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Jul 17, 2014 - 9:31 AM

It is an awesome site and thankyou for the warm welcome smile.gif and I couldn't agree more, would love to get some projectors smile.gif

Thankyou very much, and i think it is a damn good job done in the repairs, can't wait to get the paint on and the spoiler, skirts and splitters etc smile.gif and yeah Josh has hooked me up with plenty and I'm sure more to come haha tongue.gif Thanks for wanting to follow this thread, I really appreciate it!

Posted by: RoadRage Jul 17, 2014 - 11:56 PM

lol I got my spoiler from josh and it took me about 2 months (because of laziness) to prep, paint and install

good luck with yours

I still gotta put my sideskirts on too

Actually reminds me.. i should also update my sig tongue.gif

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Jul 18, 2014 - 10:10 PM

Mate I've gotta admit, your car looks freakin awesome! and I agree that the Projectors change the looki dramatically, can't wait till i can afford some smile.gif I have however recieved my fog lights and splitters, fog lights will be attached hopefully today, but not conected just yet. And good luck with your side skirts, should look really nice smile.gif and i'm my spoiler can look really nice as well smile.gif Thanks again!

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Jul 21, 2014 - 3:40 AM

I have a sneaking suspicion that your car may have the wiring already in the car ready to either plug in or cut into... check into it smile.gif

How does the strut bar look? It takes less than 5 min to install... go do it now! Haha tongue.gif

Posted by: RoadRage Jul 21, 2014 - 4:41 AM

What about JDM Tails yo! ?

That's also a 5 minute install smile.gif

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Jul 21, 2014 - 5:11 AM

Yeah i do have all the wires already smile.gif i just need some relay cables to go with the switch i bought smile.gif
And i would but its raining tongue.gif those damn bolts have been done up tight on my car too haha tongue.gif But yeah it looks awesome smile.gif

Yeah i need to do them as well smile.gif just waiting for the paint to be done first, cause i'll have to take it out anyway to do the painting, once the painting is done itll all be alot easier haha smile.gif

Posted by: RoadRage Jul 21, 2014 - 9:58 PM

sweet as, now move to Melbourne so i have some 6gc buddies down here laugh.gif

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Jul 22, 2014 - 12:09 AM

haha, sounds like a plan tongue.gif

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Jul 24, 2014 - 2:46 AM

Okay so I haven't done the painting quite yet, but I couldn't wait any longer to put on my JDM tails! so here you go! I think they look really nice! tongue.gif

Just on other thing as well, my SPREE LED Kit has arrived, so should be installing that on the weekend smile.gif

Posted by: RoadRage Jul 24, 2014 - 10:22 AM

ha, nice

i went with a more unique look and wired up only the outer light as running lights and all 4 when I brake..

just because i didnt like that reflector in the way of the running light tongue.gif

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Jul 24, 2014 - 8:48 PM

Yeah I think just the single would look cool, but yeah I'm a fan of the quad back lights though haha tongue.gif

Posted by: MarbleFlame Jul 25, 2014 - 1:24 AM

TJ! You went the same style as me tongue.gif Haha single lights and quad for brakes..

Posted by: JoshuaM Jul 25, 2014 - 2:30 AM

Well quad tail lights are just awesome, and are the JDM way... tongue.gif

Looking good... are you planning on debadging the rear when you do the paint?

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Jul 25, 2014 - 5:29 AM

While painting I'm thinking of at least removing the SX but haven't completely decided yet tongue.gif can't wait to paint it, it annoys me the big grey part haha

Posted by: RoadRage Jul 25, 2014 - 10:05 AM

Some thief debadged my car for me lol

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Jul 25, 2014 - 7:59 PM

That is such a shame! And would really piss me off haha, but it does look really nice the way you have it, that's my plan tongue.gif

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Aug 3, 2014 - 3:52 AM

Hey guys,
Sorry there hasn't been much on here lately, I'm just busy with my Trial HSC at the moment kindasad.gif Anyways I have almost finished installing my SPREE LED Kit with pictures soon to follow smile.gif And i just have a quick question, what do you guys think about changing from the 3 post spolier to the 2 post GT4/ SS-III WRC wing? Is it worth the trouble? Thanks smile.gif

Posted by: RoadRage Aug 3, 2014 - 4:09 AM

YES!! (sorry, im not a huge fan of the 3 post spoiler tongue.gif)

doesn't seem like its much trouble anyway, just filling up old holes and figuring out the new ones, and its white already!
(pretty sure there is a guide on here from 3 post to 2 anyway)
my blocks came cracked and the bottom mount missing, and i made my own with metal brackets, rubber and self tapping screws.

Do yours have the GT4 writing on them?

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Aug 3, 2014 - 5:54 AM

Haha thats fair enough, i keep changing my mind on that i do and i don't haha tongue.gif and no mine is blank tongue.gif

Posted by: RoadRage Aug 3, 2014 - 6:44 AM

You already have it, just install it

I went to a lot of effort to make mine blank tongue.gif and now it looks ballin' tongue.gif

does this image help? tongue.gif

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Aug 3, 2014 - 6:49 AM

Haha i'll definitely have to give it a go at least, but will be the last thing i do on the exterior i think tongue.gif Does look awesome!

Posted by: rentaspace Aug 11, 2014 - 3:45 AM

Not sure how I missed your thread man >.< Awesome car and awesome to have another local member!

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Aug 11, 2014 - 7:33 AM

thanks very much man smile.gif would hope for mine to look anywhere near as good as yours!

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Aug 11, 2014 - 7:45 AM

Hey guys,
Again sorry for the delay! but I finally finished my HSC Trials today after two weeks! But I still have major works to work on over the next week and then I'm pretty well free until the actual HSC smile.gif Anyhow, back on track, I have finally got my GREEN P's! and have finally got the rear panel painted!

Before:
http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo25_zps0d0d4751.jpg.html

After:
http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/12df8b73-5fc6-4e52-9356-89c4eff5c3bb_zpsac5355da.jpg.html

As well as having the panel painted I have put on 1 SS-III Rear Splitter, while waiting for the paint to be buffed and all on the other side haha.

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo17_zps03a9b42a.jpg.html

This weekend I plan to fit the other Rear Splitter and place the side skirts on, since they have now been painted white as well smile.gif And if i get the time I'll hook up the fog lights too smile.gif and a picture of my SPREE LED Dash Kit will be up shortly! Thanks guys.

Posted by: rentaspace Aug 11, 2014 - 8:22 AM

My GF starts trials this week, lucky for her she has 1 test for trials and non for HSC... gotta love TVET courses lol

Hope you did alright on the tests and good luck with actual HSC... I screwed mine up pretty badly due to my health at the time...

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Aug 11, 2014 - 8:32 AM

Sorry to hear that man kindasad.gif Hope all is good now! and yeah lucky with just the one exam! I myself have 8 haha

Posted by: RoadRage Aug 11, 2014 - 9:00 AM

Geez you're quick with the paint. Paint it yourself?

Also is HSC the same as VCAA in Vic? Year 12 exams?

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Aug 11, 2014 - 5:14 PM

I'm not sure actually if it is, but yeah it is the Year 12 exams haha. and my dad actually did the painting, perfect colour match too smile.gif

Posted by: RoadRage Aug 11, 2014 - 10:29 PM

That's still pretty damn quick, I am painting my skirts right now, hopefully done by Saturday

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Aug 12, 2014 - 6:32 AM

Haha yeah not too shabby tongue.gif Glad the grey patch is gone finally! And yeah the skirts should be really good! I'm happy with how mine came out

Posted by: RoadRage Aug 12, 2014 - 7:05 AM

What are your plans for the install

bunch of double sided tape, sikaflex and self tapping screws? thats mine

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Aug 13, 2014 - 12:14 AM

I hadnt really thought about the type of screws, so what exactly are your thoughts? and yeah industrial double sided tape smile.gif May use it for the splitters as well

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Aug 15, 2014 - 9:17 AM

Hey guys,
Just a quick update, my Celica now has the side skirts and rear splitters both on smile.gif seriously on the road you are treated differently to some cars for example tonight a Nissan 300ZX flys passed trying to show off on the freeway and then later a Honda Integra Type R tongue.gif Anyhow here are some pictures smile.gif

Posted by: RoadRage Aug 15, 2014 - 11:13 AM

Nice! What was the install process for the skirts?

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Aug 15, 2014 - 7:56 PM

Thanks man! and ended up using some double sided tape for the skirts and splitters and then some special self clipping screws as well smile.gif

Y U No grill? tongue.gif

Good work on the foglights. If you want them to be useful I think I recall that yellow / warm white is the best colour, but I would do a bit of googling on that.

Needs projectors (eventually), haha tongue.gif

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Sep 19, 2014 - 12:20 AM

Hey everyone,
I'm sorry that there has been no news lately, but I do have a couple of things to say smile.gif
I have since the last post purchased the following:

- 17" Caldina GT4 Wheels
- SS-III Front Splitters
- SS-III Grille (Arrived but haven't put on yet)
- SS-III Grille Badge
- TRD Grille Badge
- Set of 4 Projector Headlights

I'm about to purchase a set of Euro Riser blocks, and am on the hunt for a boot off a pre-facelift gen 6. Am hopefully going to sell my SS-III riser blocks soon. I'm also planning for some coilovers in the near future smile.gif

I'll keep everybody posted, can't wait for some pictures to come your way smile.gif

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Sep 23, 2014 - 11:05 PM

So today, this arrived smile.gif was a lucky dip kinda game with JoshuaM and i got this tongue.gif

So as of yesterday I bought a pre facelift bootlid off a 1994 Toyota Celica ST204 (reason being the two post spoiler), Tomorrow morning I will be installing and putting pictures up to show you all smile.gif Also i will finally be putting up some pictures of my SPREE LED Kit I got quite a while ago now smile.gif Stay tuned

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Sep 29, 2014 - 9:10 AM

Hey guys,
Just a quick update, today the prefaclift bootlid conversion was successful and here are a few images:

Now Representing the 2 post spoiler! tongue.gif

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo34_zpsc48bc268.jpg.html

I personally think it looks better smile.gif But honestly i don't have anything wrong with the three post, I changed for the main reason of having spoiler options. I have decided to go with the Euro Spec Riser Blocks which I will be getting in hopefully a couple of weeks, currently in the negotiation stage.
My Caldina GT4 rims are being picked up by a courier hopefully tomorrow and hopefully will arrive by the end of the week smile.gif
I will notify you all of other purchases when i have news smile.gif

Just a few pictures of my SPREE LED kit that was promised:

Here are a couple of examples of 6GC's with the Euro/Half Risers:

Shigexile:

My Caldina GT-Four rims have also arrived and will be hopefully on the car tomorrow, just waiting for new tires to arrive (Kumho: 215/45/R17) photos will be up when rims are on the car smile.gif

Also just wanting to say that a project is very hard to predict from the beginning with the mind constantly changing, so therefore as of now I'm wanting to say that is is more of my own ss-III/ trd project, set up how I desire it to look smile.gif just wanted to clear up that as of the moment the plans are not for an exact ss-III replica. I really hope you all stay tuned and interested in my thread, because it will be far from disappointing (I hope haha)

So just to keep you all updated. I have just had a custom gauge cluster made for myself by The_enD (http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showuser=34901)
I went with short pods, no tint, no gloss, white rim and the word CELICA printed across the centre. and here are a couple of pictures:

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo122_zps49a0b949.jpg.html

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo224_zps699e3c9f.jpg.html

The gauge cluster has been shipped but I am yet to receive it, cannot wait honestly! smile.gif

I also have on the way a pair of Lexus ES 300 Door Strikers which I bought off richee3 (http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showuser=9542)

I have finally gotten around to actually being able to remove the stock strut brace and now have put on the 3 piece TRD strut brace smile.gif:

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo311_zps2ad0ae67.jpg.html

Due to some rust parts of it will need to be repainted, so I am considering painting it white (040) to match the car and add some colour to the engine bay. What do you guys think?

A friend of mine is selling me his HKS Mushroom Air Filter which I am quite excited to get, will be getting a blue mushroom part for it tongue.gif But here is a picture of it currently:

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo43_zpsfe4c6a61.jpg.html

Tell me what you guys think, I have finally finished exams so have time to work on the car smile.gif

Oh and also just a picture I took leaving work tongue.gif

Posted by: Barbershop Nov 4, 2014 - 11:47 AM

Your gauge cluster looks awesome! I need to look into getting a custom gauge cluster myself. As for the engine bay, the mushroom blue filter would give it some color as well as painting the strut brace. I would also consider purchasing SokieTech hood struts. You can find them on eBay and they work great.

Yeah I am really happy with the look of the cluster, should definitely look at getting one smile.gif and I'm having second thoughts on painting the TRD brace since it will take away some of its value? but all the rest is still definitely going ahead smile.gif I'll have a look at the hood struts now tongue.gif

Just a small update for you all smile.gif
I have received my Lexus ES 300 Door Strikers, and honestly they do make the car look better, but only very subtly of course tongue.gif

Before:
http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo124_zps6a90c8e2.jpg.html

After:
http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo313_zps031c037b.jpg.html

Comparison:
http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo226_zpscb10d8cc.jpg.html

So as I said only a subtle change, but still an update that makes the car look that tiny bit better smile.gif

Also just because I could!

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo123_zps35d81a4f.jpg.html

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo225_zpsf8d239ec.jpg.html

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo312_zps97b390a4.jpg.html

Should also be putting the front SS-III Splitters on this weekend if the weather is good and have enough time smile.gif

P.S. Sorry for all the photos, I just personally find it more interesting to look at a thread with photos. Hope you are all enjoying the thread, I will keep you updated smile.gif

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Nov 10, 2014 - 8:44 AM

So everyone just another update.
Yesterday I decided it was a good day to paint my SS-III Front Splitters since one had to be repaired due to a crack when they arrived in the mail.

Here is the preparation:
http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo125_zps3151e856.jpg.html

And here is after all coats of paint:
http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo227_zps450ed0e0.jpg.html

So the plan was to put them on today, but since they dried so fast with it being such a hot and sunny day, they were also put on, on the same day as they were painted smile.gif

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo314_zpse408398f.jpg.html

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo52_zps0e414170.jpg.html

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo44_zps2155acd0.jpg.html

I personally think it is an awesome addition to the car and makes it look that much better!

Just a question I'm wanting to ask as well, what do you guys think of me going TRD rear splitters in place of the current SS-III ones?? Just curious to know what you all would think looks better for my car smile.gif

I've got the OEM side/TRD rear setup on mine. It's all personal preference. I was stuck deciding between SSIII and TRD for the longest time too. but I wanted the back end to come down a bit more so I chose TRDs and they came painted. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Hey guys,
I have been away for the past week and haven't had a chance to update. So here we go. When i arrived back home yesterday my custom Gauge Pod made by The_enD had arrived! smile.gif

Overall i am extremely happy with it! and highly recommend The_enD for any 6GC product!

In other news, I bought some new Low Beam globes for $50 and they give a really nice white look. They are 5000K Phillips Diamond Vision H1 Globes! I really think they are great for the price and also being just plug and play smile.gif

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo46_zpsc9d6048c.jpg.html

Today the plan for me is to put on my newly arrived 6GC.net sticker and also a Cars for Hope sticker! smile.gif

Stay tuned for more coming soon!

So guys I have a few more updates that will be uploaded in the next week or so smile.gif
But right now I'm just wanting to ask what colour brake calipers i should go? I'm thinking, Blue, Red or Orange. But i'm open to all opinions smile.gif Green would also look cool haha.
So please just let me know what you think would look best smile.gif

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Jan 31, 2015 - 8:34 PM

Hey all,
Sorry it has really been a while, but here is a quick update for you all smile.gif

Firstly I had ordered a while back a C's Short Shifter, which has not yet been installed, but was also at the same time given GT-Four "CELICA" door sills just for the price of extra postage smile.gif

Before:
http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%202%2030_zps19khiz3z.jpg.html

After:
http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%201%2028_zpsarozsdxg.jpg.html

A little while after I had finally decided on a colour for my brake pads (and soon engine bay as well), Burnt Copper! and I think the end result came out really well!

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%201%2029_zps2mettd0h.jpg.html

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%203%2018_zpsna8ij7fh.jpg.html

Hope you guys like the choice as much as I do smile.gif

A friend of mine recently edited a photo of my car, showing what it'd look like low. It's made up my mind! I am all for it!

Low:
http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%204%209_zpsiwo1rsus.jpg.html

A few more things still to come as well smile.gif I have bought a genuine TRD shift knob, but it is a little to big to fit so am going to have to do something about that. Here it is:

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%202%201_zpsp8hkcsif.png.html

I've also just bought a steering wheel from Japan that should arrive this week I'm hoping smile.gif

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%201%2030_zpsmceiyxbu.jpg.html

I also recently just installed a Pod Filter, which gives the car a nice feel and sound smile.gif

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%203%2017_zpsylwgc4xx.jpg.html

Hope you guys are all enjoying the progress like I am, I will try my best to keep you all up to date smile.gif

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%202%2032_zpsbgx7pqn1.jpg.html

I have also just purchased a TRD horn button and carbon fibre like surrounding for the horn button.

Along with this, I am getting my C's Short Shifter installed next week, which i am really keen for smile.gif

Also I forgot to mention I bought a set of OEM Footwell and ignition lights, which I am gonna get an auto electrician to look at cause I have no idea haha.

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%201%2031_zpsabb5snp1.jpg.html

Did you manage to get the Footwell lighting to work? I might get one, and when I do, I am going to make a write-up as to which bulbs it uses, how easy or complex is the installation and such.

Type 74 bulbs and installation is super easy, just tapping into the door courtesy light wire in the kick panel. smile.gif

Honestly, after the install I have felt a quite dramatic increase in power, especially at the 5s's torque power band. I am very happy with the end product! awesome sound too!

Since returning,
firstly I installed my #TeamPaulWalker decal since I'm a huge Paul Walker fan and am very happy to pay my respects to him smile.gif

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%202%2033_zpswrkmnysj.jpg.html

The following day in the mail I recieved my TRD Rear Splitters, which I cut and polished and then installed, really love the new look they bring to the table smile.gif

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%204%2010_zpsrsai6sx0.jpg.html

So with this change I now have my SS-III Rear Splitters for sale, looking for $200 AUD OBO (not including postage)

Also I picked up my Cusco 4-piece underbody brace, which I then got painted the same colour as my brake callipers smile.gif very happy with the end result! now i just need to install!

So while waiting for coilovers, I have added a few little TRD goodies for decoration smile.gif

#1 is a custom made steering wheel horn button decal:

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%201%2039_zpsx7klpriu.jpg.html

#2 is a 'TRD Racing Development' decal for the side skirts:

personally both are very simple but effective smile.gif

So my birthday was yesterday and I finally got an HID kit for my projectors smile.gif I got a 6500K kit from AutoPlatonium based in Victoria (South Australia), It is alot brighter than any halogen globe iv'e used (iv'e been through a few) and they are well worth the cost of $100. They also come with matching parkers and with the projectors it looks much better if the parkers match the low beams!

This is a before shot, when i was running with Phillips Diamond Vision (6000K Halogen):
http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%202%2041_zps8qgsm1hd.jpg.html

And after with the Auto Platonium (6500K HID's):
http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%201%2041_zpslugujcwq.jpg.html

Just one more shot after work! smile.gif in person they are just pure white with very little if no blue:
http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%203%2026_zpst7yzwloo.jpg.html

In other news, my Tanabe Sustec Pro OC-II Coilovers should be arriving in the next week or two, and i've got a Tanabe sticker made up to match for the back window! (gotta let others know what your running wink.gif haha).

Iv'e also ordered some Michelin Pilot Sport 3 215/45R17 tyres that I will be getting fitted on Monday, so I will post again then smile.gif

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Jun 28, 2015 - 3:02 AM

So my new tires are now on the car and handle corners amazingly well! Highly recommend the Michelin Pilot Sport 3's

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%203_zps0szk8riv.jpg.html

Also last post I forgot to mention that I was changing my fog light globes to a 3000K yellow rather than the standard globes. and this is the difference:

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%204_zpsuxqmekxq.jpg.html

You can't see much difference since this was taken during the daylight.
Now next on the list is getting the guards rolled this week and then lowering on Tanabe Sustec Pro OC-II Coilovers with 25mm spacers rear and 20mm spacers front smile.gif very keen!

Posted by: JFXtreme007 Jul 1, 2015 - 2:16 AM

Yesterday I drove about an hour to get my guards rolled, sadly took a little longer due to it being peak hour traffic and in a manual can really become annoying! When I got there the guy who was going to roll my guards had told me straight away after having a look at the passenger side rear guard, that it couldn't be done without the paint cracking due to the repair (seen at the start of the thread). The repair needed a lot of bog to be used to regain the original shape. Thankfully there was another suggestion for a little bit more money. And that was to get the lip of the rear guards grinded back, which is what I got done. This way the car looks even on both sides and apparently I'll have a little more clearance for the spacers than if I was to have gotten them rolled instead.
The guy did a terrific job! And I highly recommend John the guard roller to anyone in the sydney area. Most people would of just gone ahead on the job not knowing the danger. But thankfully John took care of the car and checked that out!
At least I wasn't the only one with this issue since the guy after me had the same problem on the front guards of his Honda S2000.

Here is a picture of the lip after it has been grinded back: (Also kinda a good advert photo for Michelin tongue.gif)

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%201%201_zps3ukj0dum.jpg.html

The difference from standard circled in red:

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%202%202_zpsv17ydqj8.jpg.html

While this was getting done it was also noticed that water was seeping through a tiny hole which I had also gotten patched up free of charge (circled in black):

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%201%202_zpsbmlrct0p.jpg.html

Now in the next couple of days the car should have coilovers on and the spacers, will keep the updates coming on here smile.gif

Just another small thing, to go with my Tanabe coilovers, I had got 4 custom made Tanabe decals (only using one for the upper rear window). And I got them custom made due to it being $20 postage from the USA for some reason.

- Tanabe Sustec Pro OC-II Coilovers
- 20mm Spacers Front
- 25 mm Spacers Rear
- 4 Point Cusco Underbody Brace
- Whiteline Rear Sway Bar
- Whiteline adjustable endlinks (Front and Rear)

Possibly also being installed:

- Whiteline Adjustable Camber Bolts (Rear)
- Whiteline Bushing Kit (Front)

Dang huge spacers say bye bye to your wheel bearings!

Did you extend your fender in with some Bondo so you could use that little hole to mound the front spat to your fender.

Beams is a good engine. You'll want the limited slip with it for sure. And if your crazy about suspension swap over the super strut.

Posted by: Tigawoods Jul 10, 2015 - 2:23 PM

he will be fine with those spacers.

all those big fancy drift cars that the pro's are driving have like 3" spacers without any issues.

From memory and not looking at the car, I think I just used one exsisting hole along with double sided tape for the front spat haha.
And the spacers looking at them aren't too big a due to others I know having used the same (JoshuaM and Rentaspace) they should work fine smile.gif
And an engine swap is definitely a thought that is on my mind, just which way to go is the question, I'm definitely leaning towards beams cause it'd go with the FWD well and since my cars handling now is gonna be much more superior to its current engine (5sfe) although I think the 5sfe is more fun than it is given credit for, great torque smile.gif

Very true, and based on the others I mentioned having the same spacers I should be fine smile.gif plus it makes the car look a lot sportier in my opinion tongue.gif

Yesterday I drove my car up the hill to the local mechanics to get my coils, sway bar, spacers and underbody brace and end links (front and rear) all installed (since my parents wouldnt let me do it myself due to lack of tools etc). And so it turns out it was a little tricker than I would have thought, especially for the bracing and sway bar.

For the Whiteline rear swaybar exhaust and fuel tank had to be slightly moved for the sway bar to fit through. And for the Cusco 4 point underbody bracing the whole plastic cover underneath the car had to be removed (the brace is now the lowest point of the car by a long shot!)

Anyhow here are some pictures from today smile.gif

When I first saw her, when going to pick her up this morning:

Okay so here we go,
About 3 weeks ago now I was involved in an almost head on car crash (I was at blame for turning on a green light but no arrow). The car looked like this at the time:

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%201%2044_zpsusn7ih3m.jpg.html

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%202%2044_zpshc3gfik6.jpg.html

while the Holden Rodeo that hit me, had only a broken headlight and fender damage (very slight). Once this crash had occurred i thought it was all over for my celica, she was not in good shape at all and i was understandably devastated.
However later that night my Dad got a call from a friend of my Grandfather's who had done my previous repair (earlier on in the thread) and had said he could repair it, and that is exactly what he did after I had purchased a nose cut (including bonnet and fenders) for $500 off of a white 1998 donor car:

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%203%2029_zpsvj9ttm6p.jpg.html

However the body still needed a lot of work and was needing to be straightened up etc. Also the paint was good to just buff and polish without much respray needed, except of course for the really average rising sun attempt tongue.gif
A week after the car was towed to his place this was the result:

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%204%2014_zpsjfojncnh.jpg.html

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%205%206_zpsigsk081s.jpg.html

Looking a lot better! and at this point i was very relieved in knowing that I got to keep my car! The saviors of the crash were,
1) That the wheel wasn't hit therefore suspension and all was fine.
2) the TRD bracing saved the engine from and damage. and
3) was the fact i had a bolt missing off the bonnet due to the end of it snapping off inside while i attempted to install hood struts (which i can now attempt again tongue.gif) The reason this help was it gave same room for the bonnet to bend up and therefore didn't crack the windscreen.

Anyhow, fast forwarding to today, I got the car back and am extremely happy with the end result (I ended up having to buy new projectors and crystal indicators, 1 fog light, and the left front splitter just needs a respray and thus is why it is currently not on the car) So here is the car as of today:

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%202%2045_zps81recn7x.jpg.html

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%204%2015_zpsnjj26z7a.jpg.html

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/photo%205%207_zpskybhjjzm.jpg.html

I decided to ask if i could grab the rear bezel off the donor car, and i ended up getting it for free and painting it black smile.gif
All in all, Michael who helped so much to restore this car is really the best at what he does!

Car is looking HAWT, glad to see she's back on the road. Now get that wheel alignment done! tongue.gif

As for the new direction with the black.... once you start you should do it right!

That is with the centre painted black with JDM tails that have been 'de-yolked' (orange bits taken out of indicators and replaced with LED) and been painted / tinted around the edges only to tie in with the middle.

Just a little update,
Not too much has been happening with my celica lately, a few things to mention though are my Custom Air Intake (CAI) with a K&N Pod, it sounds like a beast smile.gif also since the TRD front strut brace pretty well saved my car in the accident, I decided it deserved a respray smile.gif So with help from Tigawoods on giving me the colour of his, I had resprayed it in VHS Cast Iron, and I did the same with my steering wheel! (Check my profile to see the pictures)

Other than all that, I have just ordered some Vincent doggy door cards with blue stitching and also have some carbon fibre vinyl to wrap my centre console smile.gif

Im also on the look out for leather seats (Currently pending), windows need tinting and also need an alarm system. So I few things to still happen, and I will keep you all updated smile.gif The main goal for me currently is to make the 6GC.net 2016 Calendar!

Just a small update smile.gif

so today with a couple of friends I went for a small drive out to the closest Autobarn, sadly that is 45 minutes, good roads though! And when we were there I found a SAAS shift knob that is weighted (375 grams) and wasn't too tall, only 70mm, and so I bought it! after looking around for a while.
And also today I thought id give vinyl wrapping a small go, so I wrapped my coin holder lip in carbon fibre vinyl smile.gif

Really love this car, it's given me some ideas for mine and I just wish I had the money to do it!

I've gotten some SS-III Side skirts and rear caps, but still looking for a front lip. I was a bit worried about what they would look like without the fronts but after seeing yours without them on it doesn't look too strange actually, definitely better with them though.

Stock exhaust wasn't so bad, but hearing the exhaust note is definitely better tongue.gif The muffler is a JDM Prof. Sheepdog muffler, and I got it off another 6GC.net member. Apparently the muffler was actually made specifically for the ST202 Celica smile.gif

Hey all,

It's been quite a while! Been missing this group so I thought id update you all on what's been happening smile.gif

About a year ago now I test drove a friend's 1999 Honda Integra DC2 Type R and at that moment I decided to sell my 6GC due to there being no BEAMS or 3SGTE engines available (had been that way for some time) and go on the hunt for a Honda Integra DC2 Type R.
After seeing a few I became abit disappointed due to the engine issues that were reoccurring and the struggle to find a stock standard one for a decent price, I even had fellow 6GC member, JoshuaM, check out a Milano Red DC2R in Queensland, sadly it was sold before I could make any sort of arrangements.
After a while I found a Phoenix Yellow DC2R with a JDM front end and Engine conversion, I had all the money ready, however when I went to pick it up I bought a mechanic friend with me and turned out that the engine wasn't very healthy so I gave it a miss.
That weekend a very clean Honda Integra DC5 Type R in Arctic Blue Pearl popped up, so I went to look at it the next day, and the next thing, I had a new car.

2002 Honda Integra DC5 Type R:

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/7_zpsng9sbooc.png.html

http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/JFXtreme007/media/untitled_zpsqssiejwf.png.html

Fast-forward 9 months and it had come time to sell this beautiful DC5R, since it was really a car setup for track or weekend driving, dailying it in Sydney traffic just wasn't any fun and since I don't actually own a house and have no room for 2 cars, selling it was the best option. The first guy who came to check the car out was a great guy who I could see would treat the car well, he is the one that bought it from me (He even showed up in his friend's Honda NSX NA1).

So what was next in store!
The search for a reliable new daily had begun!
The first car I thought of (since I wanted to stick to a sports car) was the Toyota GT86, so I decided to go and test drive one.
When I got to the local dealer they had a black manual GTS (Premium Spec for the Australian market) in stock and they let me go on a test drive just by myself.
All in all, I was very impressed with the GT86, I understand how people can feel it as being underpowered on the normal streets (good in traffic though), but get it on a backroad and its perfect, the balance and handling is like nothing I've experienced before an that's stock vs. my Celica and Integra on coilovers.

So my decision was made! I ended up ordering the newer and yet to be released model, being the new facelift 2017 Toyota 86 GTS in pearl white.
Here she is:

To conclude this post,
at the present time I am very happy with my purchase of the 2017 Toyota 86, loving everything about it. I feel it does have a similar feel to the Celica before it, after all it is the 2-door coupe that came after the Celica and that's the reason I chose 86 over BRZ, because the Toyota 86 has a lot more 2-door car heritage in its brands history compared to the BRZ and Subaru.
Hope all you guys are well, I'm continuing to love the builds of all your 6GC's. One day down the line ill get a Celica again, probably a ST185 tongue.gif
