I also need to find some weather-proof connectors so that I can quickly connect my gauge wiring. It's one of the last things I need to do still, as I had to cut the wires to get it all out.

How many pins and what wire gauge?

I like Weatherpack stuff, it's cheap and works well. Not as awesome as Douche connectors but still pretty good. You can get them in 2 to 4 wire in that style pretty easily and in other styles for more wires. You're supposed to have a special crimper for them but if you're not a ham fisted idiot you can do it with any decent regular crimper to get the wire held and just solder it to make sure it's a solid connection. Hardest part is getting the fingers wrapped around the rubber plug in a somewhat round manner.

Jokes on her, I don't have any money or other redeeming qualities. Pretty sure I'm just a bad habit at this point.

Ummm... WOW! I so getting another ride next meet.

BUT... you like doing this stuff to your car because you don't work on cars for a living. I work on cars for a living & they (cars) all suck big donkey balls, plain & simple. It really ruined a perfectly good hobby. [Of course this is not true for everyone]

I have a red 6gc if you need another test mule.

You got it man. I think it will be a lot more enjoyable this time since the car now has an interior haha. Everything has become much more refined overall. The last meet was literally the first true shakedown of the whole setup...

I think I agree about not wanting to work on cars for a living. I was really tempted to go down that road when I was younger, but I'm ultimately glad I didn't....especially since I am now my families default mechanic. They have a few VW's and working on them usually puts me into a bad mood.

overall I have much respect for those that wrench on the daily...

Me too. They're not even that bad usually but they just make my mood turn ****ty when I have to work on them. Chryslers too.

Haha, I try. Bring beauty to everyone!

Yeah, that'd definitely do it. If she likes hot showers then could always turn it down some for washing out hair then turn it back up.

Oh she knows that, she just doesn't want to do that. I'm starting to think she likes me coloring her hair as much as she likes having colored hair. She gets all the benefits with none of the work, what's not to love! laugh.gif

Casey!
So I helped her dye her hair again, purple on the top and the back/under of it orange. The orange Arctic Fox bleeds out pretty fast and it's over some old purple, but it came out really nice. I just wrapped up the lighter part in foil to keep the purple dye off it and tried to keep them separate, it worked nicely. I need to figure out how to heat the hair with the dye in it without just drying it out, foil wrapped hair is hard to heat with a joe schmo hair dryer. The commercial stylist ones can do it but they're big bucks.

I use seran wrap instead of foil, holds in the moisture better. Plus it's a lot lighter when you have a lot of hair.

I should get around to dying my hair again, I think my mom found teal and purple dye meant for darker hair so would give that a try versus having to bleach the **** out of it again.

How do you keep the dark colors from bleeding into the light colors and darkening them with each wash? Her purple is turning her orange into red lol which is probably going to end up purple.

Sulfate free shampoo and using lukewarm water, hot water is worse for your hair. Being wet makes it swell and weaken as it is, but especially the hotter the water is.

Casey is about to level Erin up, if you keep asking things Jordan. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

You're not careful, you might just end up single! wink.gif

Maybe.

Already had sulfate free shampoo and she read the bottle about cool water but she likes her showers to be what I call lobster boil hot, she comes out as red as a boiled lobster.

So I'm all set on Motherboards for new builds but if anyone needs a good board on a budget, put a snipe on one of these! You can order a new CPU socket from Aliexpress and pop the cover off the new and snap it onto the motherboard very easily. The trick is ordering the right socket, there's two makers of AM4 sockets I'm aware of. Lotes and Foxconn, if you look at the board and see who made the other ports and sockets usually they're all from one or the other and the CPU socket is the same. A good snipe should be able to score one of those boards for about 1/2 what they usually go for on eBay, a great way to get onto AM4 socket for cheap AND do so with a good board!

I like blowing stuff... with compressed air, whoooshhhh. That and I have electronic cleaner spray.

Also turns out I didn't click with the synth so it'll be returned, but at least Iearned some things about what I'd like in the replacement. Should've just been a guitarist, that's a lot simpler.

You need a turbo is what you need, then you can get blown everytime you take a drive! laugh.gif
Well bummer the synth didn't work out but you'll find the right instrument, sometimes you just gotta try a bunch that aren't right first.

I'm not wild about the threshold that comes with that though. Just give me natural aspiration and a stick in my hand. Yeah, seems to be the story of my life though... so hard to find synths, or cars, that I can fall in love with...

That's what she said?

I scored a Wraith Prism for $32 shipped for the 1600 AF so it'll look extra pretty inside the computer case with the green light strips too. I'll have to have her come over and go through all the new **** so she's not texting/calling me for tech support a bunch all the time and I'm not trying to pull answers out of my photographic memory.

Also I'm trying to walk my mom through upgrading her laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and it's dual boot Ubuntu and she uses Windows like 2-3 times a year so she's pretty lost using Windows now lol, honestly it is a little less intuitive than the Ubuntu distro she's familiar with now.

The hunk of **** actually boots up, I even OC'd it to 2ghz just because Core2Duo's OC super easy. Board has NO voltage controls, just a FSB to 265 so I set it to like 250 and ran with it. Why? Pfft why not. The RAM that was supposed to be here today won't be here till Monday and I just found out last night that the back plate I bought won't work with the Spire cooler (or Stealth cooler) because the threaded posts are too short. More waiting to get the correct back plate for $7 now. Bought some "vivid green' LED strips for it, convinced her to get a better case, and figured out her actual budget rather than 'well just do what you think I need' which is an awful plan and always ends up in someone doing something wrong. $700. At $300 so far, $75 for a case and 5 pack of decent fans.

She's not keen on glass panels but honestly anything without one was a much worse overall case and I'd take a glass panel over the $5 cheaper version of the case with a plastic window panel. Because PC maintenance is probably not going to happen I'm going to setup the airflow weird on this PC. The top will have some fine mesh magnetic filters for ease of access to clean and that will be the intake. The front will be exhaust. The rest of the case will be blocked off to prevent dust from getting in as much. I'm hoping if the filters are easy to get at and clean then they may actually get cleaned. I also try to remember to ask her to bring it to me once a year at work (like a block from her house) to blow the dust out for her.

I don't care for imgur, their TOS technically forbids hotlinking images and even though they allow it now they could at any point in the future pull a ****ing Photobucket and screw us all over and break all the hotlinked images. Nah, I don't want to participate in that kind of thing again. I'll figure something out, or not. lol whatevs.

Friend dropped off the old PC I built them so I can see if I can reuse the case and they wanted their old hard drives in the new system so they have all their old stuff.

Holey ole **** me what the ****. I need to figure out how to put some pictures up here because just the outside...there's rust on the top of the case and paint missing on a whole corner of the top. Oh they've been using it as a foot stool. Is that mouse **** on top of it? Yeah probably. I haven't even opened it yet. I think I'm just going to tell them they need a new case because I don't really want to work with this nasty thing. I'll glue a wooden board on top of it so they don't bang up the top using it as a foot stool this time...for ****s sake.

My R5 1600 AF (reduced clock 2600 basically) came in today, I repaired the B450 Tomahawk board I got a while back, and now I'm just waiting on RAM so I can make sure this motherboard works but I expect it to work. After that a graphics card, PSU, NVME, and my friends mid range gaming PC will be done. Hunting graphics card deals and there's just crap for good deals with used hardware still. I'll probably do like 1660 Super.

I had wanted to do ITX for my AMD but none of the ITX boards had good enough VRM for a 2700X and I couldn't find any broken that I knew I could repair.

Yeah, and my 2700X was $135 too, my X470 Asus ROG Strix Gaming F was $70+$8 part to repair it. I'm super budget eBaying this thing together lol. Only thing I overpaid on was the RAM I bought like 7 months ago. 32GB CJR die 3600 DDR4 CL18 I think. Not the best but good enough, can't get it to run at 3600 though but running 3400 is good enough. I'm going to repaste and remount the cooler on my RX580 soon and hope for better thermals there and I need to source a NVME drive for it but that'll have to be new. All told I'm like...
$135 CPU
$120 GPU
$150 RAM
$80 MotherBoard
$100 PSU
about $600. I've been hoarding my Amazon points and have $250 saved up so far, I think once I'm around $300-$400 in points I'll go for something new and nice maybe and kick in another $100 of my own money too. I'm hoping that Ampere is as good and efficient as they say it might be or that it tanks the prices on some older stuff perhaps.

Oh yea, nailed a huge pothole with my Mazda a couple weeks ago, bubbled the tire and bent the OUTER lip of the OEM 16" Mazda wheel. Ended up getting a pair of new DWS06 tires and a wheel, rotated them to the rear till I get the other pair of tires and have 4 new ones. Wheel bearing didn't survive either, got a SKF bearing to press in next week and ordered a news snapring for $7 from Mazda, not worth it trying to save the old one when a new one is so cheap so that means the old one will come out without any hassles lol.

Lemme tell ya, I hit that crater HARD. It was on the side of the on ramp and I barely grazed the edge of it, wheel just got sucked in and slammed by it before I could react. I was kind of pissed about the wheel but whatever. I knew I needed tires anyway but the wheel money was going to be the battery I should replace sooner than later.

I upgraded my Core2Duo E8400 to a 2700X with 32GB DDR4 3400 and carried over my RX580 from another PC, gathering the rest here and there. Scored a RM1000X for $100 shipped so plenty of power lol.

But here is another thought... At work the issue never happens, at parents house it seems fine, but once I get home the problem is persistent. Maybe the issue is with how the phone handles weak 4G signal.

That may be possible, are there any options for it to drop to 3G more readily? Is it in your house only or all around your house?

I'd swap for a different phone. Sprint and their CMDA network is going to be going bye bye in while anyways.
