Full walkaround mod's video for 808joey..sold him my car that I've had for 12.5 years..and I've put enough mods in it to feed a family for a few years..lol. Tons of juicy mods laid out in a super long video..I've added links to jump to different parts. The really cool things to view are the Ignition, Electronics, Interior, sensors, gauges, and knock control portions. I know he's enjoying it, someone in my neighborhood started destroying the car (slashed top, broke a window..etc), so I was forced to sell it before something else happened. Enjoy the video guys!! I'm no longer a 6GC owner frown.gif

I fully support your chosen uses for the buttons! I'm surprised there aren't some on eBay from trashed steering wheels with good buttons.

me too, I keep looking but I haven't found anything. Most of these wheels went to australia in the 7gc. I'm even on an aussy parts swap facebook page and no one seems to have them.

Just to have the extra two pins running through the clockspring. My stock clockspring was blank where the two extra wires run through. It was plug and play for my '98 but if I recall correctly, the 94-97's need modification to make the IS clockspring work, but I really don't remember. I think I saw on Facebook that you are setting yours up for something much cooler than volume controls, right?

Yeah.. Mine will soon be I/C sprayers on the front. And one of the back will be a starter assist for anti theft. Not sure what to make the other back button yet.. Well, once I actually find back buttons.

Good to see I'm not the only one playing around with the shifter buttons. thumbsup.gif

what are you using them for? I'm trying to figure out a use for the back two (once I find some to put back where they were taken frown.gif

I'm using mine as volume controls for the radio. Since I have a '98 that already had a three post wheel, it was almost plug and play. I swapped my clockspring to an IS300 clockspring, everything plugged right up, and all I had to do was run one additional wire from the clockspring to the radio. I wasn't able to split the buttons like you did with my setup since every pin on my clockspring is in use, otherwise I'd have seek/track buttons on the right side of my wheel and volume on the left.

Ah, volume controls would work nicely. Is there any particular reason why you upgraded to the is300 clockspring?

Found this little gen in a junkyard here....suuuuper rare!!!

old vs new!!

missing the back two buttons though..I could REAALLLLYY use some back buttons.

I split the wiring for the back buttons so they are now two separate buttons instead of doing the same thing.

Thanks.. Yeah.. I put a beams tach in about a year ago. I was trying to avoid that so my gauges would all be the same color. I swapped all of the wiring over so I could plug the whole beams cluster in and I was running the kph dial for a bit but swapped the mph one back in

Factory catch can on an 3sge 3. gen.? can you post a Picture of this please.

This is for the 3sgte, I don't believe the 3sge came with one

I can confirm this. I have a 3sge with turbo internals, this is one of the differences. No return drain, different valve cover, and different fuel rail.

Sorry about long URL. Takes you.to download a PDF file. At the very bottom of PDF is diagram its for a 94 but I'd assume it's the same. Have you checked the resistor?

Thanks for the link, but I verified that most of this works today. My problem seems to lie in the main fuse box under the hood. The 40 amp main fuse has no power, and I think I might have to open up the fusebox to see why, unless I get my hands on a diagram of the main fuse box.

Hey guys,
I've been tracing out a problem with my blower motor, it seems that I'm not getting voltage from the 40a heater fuse from the engine bay fuse box. I pulled the fuse and checked both pins for voltage, neither has voltage. Does anyone have a power distribution wire diagram of the inside of this fuse box?

Do any of you high boost/big build guys want this Celica FMIC bracket? Me and a friend made it out of 1/4 flat bar and 1/4 channel iron, in terms of being a crashbar it's more solid than the stock one and fits the st204 frame rails. Plus it's made to mount a Nissan S14/S15 huge FMIC. It was on my car for about 4 years or so, even while I was building the engine. The I/C I have with it I'm better off selling it locally to the Nissan guys just because of shipping costs on large items from here. The I/C I had on it was 4x12x28 with 3 inch inlet and outlet. I had to shave some plastic from behind the stock prefacelift bumper but it fit perfectly after. Now I'm running a smaller Mishimoto I/C mounted to the factory crash bar. Shipping should be between $40-$60 depending on location in the US. And I would just want a little over $100 on top of that. There aren't that many boosted 6gcs on the island here, so selling it locally is almost out of the question.

This is the bracket, top of the bracket is on the left

This is how it mounts to the celica. You just need two flat bars on the bottom of it to hold it steady and bolt to the chassis.

Curren tails, and a carbon fiber TRD Coupe spoiler added.

Found a guy on craigslist selling all of his aftermarket parts for his Celica, luckily we had white celicas, we just swapped trunk lids. Curren tails are just a bolt-on of course.

I really advise against reusing any hydraulic tensioner and any pulleys, if one should fail or lock up later (and reused ones are more likely to do so) and the belt breaks because of it then you're up **** creek for the cost of a head rebuild over a couple parts totally under $200.

Yes, I should have mentioned that for others. Like I said though, mine only has 10k miles on it.

Applicable engine: Gen II and Gen III 3sgte
Parts in the pictures: timing tensioner and timing pulley
Time: 1 hour if you know what you're doing.

Just so you guys know how to do it. I did it today in about an hour, to include removing the timing pulley and tensioner, applying tension and putting them back with the new pulley. I figured I would post the pictures that I took of how to apply tension to the tensioner again, and what I used to hold in it place. Before anyone asks why I'm not replacing the tensioner, belt, or anything else...those parts only have 10k miles on them.

---or you can follow the same steps and install new parts

A word of warning, if you don't know what you're doing you can set the timing belt back wrong, let someone do this that has done it before, unless you don't mind learning by "repetition"
Step 1) set your engine at TDC (make sure both the cams and crank are set, not just one of them)

Step 2) remove the timing cover

Step 3) loosen the timing pulley bolt (one reason is so you can reuse the shoulder bolt since it's easier to remove from the bracket while bolted to the engine, the other reason is because this is the only bolt that threads into steel, the others thread into aluminum, there is a chance the beginning threads on the head will rip out from the tension of the tensioner if you loosen the tensioner pulley bracket or the tensioner since they both bolt directly into the head)

Step 4) when the pulley is loose move the belt out of the way, be careful not to move it too much so it doesn't slip a tooth on the crank gear. This is all easier if it doesn't slip a tooth on the crank side. You can mark where it lines up on the gears with a paint pen or permanent marker.

Step 5) unbolt the 14mm bolt that goes through the pulley bracket (DO NOT LET THE WASHER FALL OFF OF THE BACK OF THE PULLEY BRACKET BOLT!!! IT WILL FALL INTO YOUR LOWER TIMING COVER!!!)

Step 6) unbolt the two 12mm bolts that hold in the tensioner (on the bottom)

Step 7) Install the new pulley (if needed), and tighten to torque specs

Step 8) buy a HARDENED STEEL 1.5mm hex key, usually black color, not the cheap silver ones. you'll need it as a pin to hold the tensioner. It needs to be at least 1 inch long, but not longer than 2 inches or it will be in the way of the motor mount

Step 9) put tension on the tensioner with a c-clamp, make sure to keep the shaft straight so the hole in it will line up with the hole in the tensioner assembly

Step 10) slide the 1.5mm hex key in and slowly release tension. The hex key shouldn't bend, if it does it is too weak. It should be still usable after this. If id doesn't go all the way through the tensioner this will still work

Step 11) put in the tensioner pulley (and don't drop the washer off of the back that sits flush against the head

Step 12) put the tensioner on

Step 13) slip the belt back on, making sure you had the tension you did before

Step 14) make sure everything is in place, and remove the hex key from the tensioner with a pair of pliers.

Step 15) Check the tightness of the bolts that you touched, then put your cover back on. The car should start right back up like normal.

Other pictures: these are of the Gen II and Gen III timing tensioner pulleys, a gen II can be used on the gen III engine, not sure if the opposite is true. Only noticed differences, the gen III has an extra lip on the side that the tensioner pushes, and the gen III also has a nub hanging off the side that doesn't seem to be used for anything
Gen II (left) and Gen III (right) tensioner pulleys side-by-side comparison

Gen III is on top this time

Gen II is on top

You know why I have installed front fog lights? Because front bumper looks better with them biggrin.gif. The rear is different thing here sure but front once I really have just because of design reasons wink.gif.

yeah, I've been in some pretty bad fog and did fine without fog lights. I've never installed them because I needed them. They just look cool. And my GTFour bumper is crying out for some with its blank fog light holes

do you have the 4 pin one or the 8 pin one? Apparently there are two different switches. I'll figure it out hopefully.

Another thread about it

I still don't have anything hooked up to it, waiting to redo the front end.

I like the information that you put into the thread. My question now is...there are 3 ground wires, are all of them ground all the time or are some of them ground switched? Meaning it would trigger something operated by ground, like the cluster light.

Hey! A fellow Hawaii Celica owner on 6gc!! I'm always excited to see other HI peeps on here. And it's for front fogs, with no fog here I wouldn't care to have rear fogs.

QUOTE (malpaso @ Feb 19, 2015 - 12:18 AM) *
match220, It's pre-facelift and facelift version. That simple one was 94-95 and 8pin at 96-99 Celicas. But that nothing changes on fact I have no wire diagrams available. That's why I bought that simple one in 2009 when bought JDM model.

Note: In Europe is rear fog light mandatory because of safety reasons. It's the law. You must turn on rear fog light in case of fog. To be seen and not being hit (or lets say to minimize the risk to be crashed) from the rear. And if someone outside EU wants it? His decision and I respect it. No need to ask why. It has it's purpose wink.gif .

I bought the switch and didn't know it would have a tiny logic board on it. I'm wishing it didn't need complex wiring now, but I can still use it. I may end up resoldering the board so it works the way I want it to if I can't find a wire diagram smile.gif

It's the 8 pin switch, and I took the it apart the other day to see the circuitry inside. It definitely doesn't look simple. Do you have an EU wire diagram for the lighting system? Or do you know specifically what model came with the 8-pin button?
