6G Celicas Forums _ My Project _ "TRDGT4"

Posted by: TRDGT4 May 4, 2008 - 1:05 AM

well here's a bit of history of my Celica Gt4 "TRDGT4"
Bought the completely standard about four years ago after a few mods it look like this

And then by the end of 2007 it look like this

but then i had problems BIG problems

The Thurst washers in the engine came out causing major engine damage luckly the pistons and rods were unharmed and would live another day so that brings us into the rebuild:

engine out it was then a case of stripping everything out of the engine bay for a complete respary in classic 040 Toyota white

While the car was getting its new coat of paint I source another block and began the rebiuld I also managed to get a complete engine from a GTT Caldina for which I used the Head and Intake including injectors, I then set about match porting the head and having a custom set of cams ground which included facing the Valves and having all the seats recut with a custom three angle profile and have all the tappets set with custom shims, I also added some HKS adjustable cam gears and had the intake manifold ceramic coated. The block got rebored out .5mm and the bottom end was balanced and block decked
New Engine

new engine being fitted

So now with the engine back in the hole the custom wiring job started and after 20 hours (that's just on the wiring) it runs
but not fully completed and ready for road yet (hanging out to drive her again though)
below are a few pics of the work that has gone in

I'll keep adding pics as i get closer to driving her enjoy

the local dealer here has helped me out with a bit of sponsorship and in return i put the sticker in the car

and as for catch cans your right there are 4 two for the engine one for the trans and one for radiator over flow i also got a custom power steer tanks and having a custom washer bottle made to look like power steer

Well Tunning is all go for tomorrow and i have just got it back on the road as over the last week i have added an extra catch can well more of improvement of the old system as it was too small i also added a third braided line off the rocker cover to help aid in the breathing side of things. My injectors have been flowed and the fuel rail line bored and fiited back in plus i also gave my driveshaft a birthday and fitted new hanger bearings.

Drove it to work this morning an WHAT an improvement it just wants to go so for the first time i am turely excited about have the car tuned on the Dyno tomorrow. below are a few pics of whats been happing and as for the rocker cover being grey well i sent it to the coating guys and that is all they had time for so i have to send it back once tuned. Enjoy

when i got to Speedtech Motorsport i was really impressed by the way i was treated i mean i'd been there before but this time was a little different, Andre was awesome and worked his magic again to come up with 250Kw ATW on 20psi of boost below is a couple of pics of the car in the dyno room and the all important dyno plot

the exhaust manifold is cutom made by myself and father it was made for my gen 3 head and bolts straight up to the gen 4 head i hope this answers that question

as for the NM what you see is what it has they are a straight scan and unchanged wink.gif

as for the engine coolers nope only have one and its a 19 row cooler

hope this explains a few things

F**K ME.

1400Nm is just insane, would love to see what it would do down the quarter or around a track, you will have to go to fielding smile.gif.

This has to get in performance car now, way better than those hondas and S**T ive been seeing on the covers lately.

Again well done.

Im going to be in palmy in about a week ill try and stop in to see the beast smile.gif.

I was trying to ask how many oil coolers are you using? You use the 19 row cooler for the engine oil. But what is what is this here for?

just to clear this up dyno figures of torque relates to "tractive effort" not wheel torque,

in reality its prob making 400-450 nm atw, which is still a damm fine figure.

There is a couple of 205's in aus with 300+ kw atw. I dont know them personally but i know people who do tongue.gif.

Posted by: TRDGT4 Dec 3, 2008 - 2:24 PM

thanks for all your coments about the end result as for being one of the higher HP cars that was not my intention with the build i just wanted a good amount of power i could have some fun with.

on another note i am gearing up for a single car sprint at Manfeild Racepark on the 21st of December theres a little bit of work to do but should be a great day, last time out i managed 210+ kmph down the main straight and this time i have more power on board so i should be some fun.

hopefully i'll get some pics and even some vid footage for you all.

Nice pedals, are those custom floor mats? I noticed you have GT-Four on them. Did your original floor mats have TOYOTA on them or CELICA hyper sports ?

Also, Does that TRD rear spoiler fit the hatch holes for the 1996 3 post spoiler or the 1994/95 2 post spoiler?? Or completely different again and needs to be drilled and filled?

floor mats are custom i got them from where we have our mats made for TNZ as for the original ones i wouldn't know it never came with mats

and for the TRD spoiler i think it uses the same holes but not to sure maybe someone will know on here as it came with the car when i got it.

hows your GT-four coming along all sweet now?

Posted by: delusionz Apr 28, 2009 - 3:48 AM

I'm not having much fun with mine at the moment, just running it to get around.. I need new bushes, cv joints, piston rings, radiator, windscreen.. my turb hits 18 psi in high revs when its not supposed to and cuts out so I can't fang it out at all like I could with the SS-III.

It's a cool car but it demands alot of money if I demand the extra performance over the st202... I just doing the little things that I can afford at the moment, like fluid maintenance... I'm hanging onto it because the car has alot of potential once these little big things are fixed, I want mine to be like yours tongue.gif

Woah nice car !

Did you get your clear projectors from Wolfie?

Posted by: SwissFerdi Oct 26, 2009 - 9:38 PM

Thanks, Clint, for making me have to clean my keyboard today. tongue.gif

Sexy car. I would have left the stock wing, but needless to say...sexy car. Beautiful.

The only thing I'm slightly disappointed with is that you said it was a coupe...it's a liftback. kindasad.gif

The high rally spoiler is optional for all models except 1996, which has a regular 3 post wing. The TRD item would have been easier to obtain.

To most people and for purpose of registration it's a coupe (aka sports car,) When you say Rally Hatchback you generally think of Pulsar GTi-R and Familia GTX

Congrats on getting into the magazine, i bought it today when I was at work and I was pretty surprised to see a GT-Four in there, let alone one I'd seen on this board lol, It was a good write up, nice work. Your car should have been on the poster aswell, Its so much nicer than the Levin/Honda they used.

Posted by: TRDGT4 Oct 27, 2009 - 4:51 AM

yeah thanks for all your comments it's really unbelieveable that it has happened i think i'm still in shock hahaha biggrin.gif

Posted by: Rusty Oct 28, 2009 - 12:38 AM

check nzpc see if they have wallpapers up yet? might even have poster sizes, but for now I'll be going to buy another issue to hang up pictures on wall, actually will need 2, since double sided.

nice, looks tidyer then the other one you had on before. Have you looked into a 3point strut brace (thinking C-one?) or making your own tower to tower brace yet? (like you said you would tongue.gif )

Also what are you using for your cold airbox?

p.s. what are you up to this weekend??

I think I like the OEM GT4 Spoiler on the back better, but yours is very clean, I like that also.

I also prefer the TOM's Front Lip.

I would take the yellow out of the rear turns.

And I would put a rear visor spoiler on the top of the hatch.

Needless to say, your car still looks amazing. I love how clean it is. It's definitely a beautiful car.

Doesn't fit very well on the GT4, even if you can mask the poor fitment it still looks bizarre on some angles. I've tried it, ended up ditching it.

I reckon C-one front lip, TRD sides & TRD rears. TRD spoiler, Why not? it is after all TRDGT4 and not OEMGT4.

is that a switch next to your fuse panel? what does it do?

think I like the OEM GT4 Spoiler on the back better, but yours is very clean, I like that also.
I also prefer the TOM's Front Lip.

Well it is a switch and it is use for my anti lag launch control which I can tell you is a whole lot of fun biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Quick question my friend,
What did you use to mount your gauges on the a-pillar? link to pods would be very rad as well!

One of the most gorgeous ST205's I`ve seen my man.

Perfect! Thanks my friend. Was contemplating going for the clean OEM look with 3 45MM gauges above my deck, however
I`m starting to really enjoy the raw rally look that you got going on. Looks great smile.gif

Also sorry one more question! I`m bombarding you here haha, what did you use to make the stainless piece that hangs overtop of the
exhaust to protect from exhaust burn/black? Looks clean.

If you a meaning the piece that has the bid TRD sticker on it well that's just as you say a piece of stainless sheet attached to where the battery bracket was mounted I drilled out the spot welds and fitted "riv nuts" see link http://www.rivtec.co.nz/products.cfm?cid=201

hope that helps.

LOL that thing, well that's just a really thin piece of Aluminium that was cut and tucked into place by hand.

So I have entered the "V" 4 and Rotary Jambo on the 27th of March http://www.4androtary.co.nz/

But the only problem is my car is a well daily driver and since the last show it needs a really ground up clean so below I thought I would show you all a little of how crazy I getting on this clean!!

Also I should mention this year I plan to have the Celica looking a little different than just straight white even though there's no better colour wink.gif But you will all have to wait and see once it gets to the show but dodn't worry I will get lots of photo's

stay tuned.......
