Best speakers around - FOCAL - even their entery level stuff is better than others top of the line. Entery level was $165 for 6.5 and tweed... Price will vary, i got them at a big sale, not sure if they were on sale, but they should be around that.

On decks, IF you decide that you want to get a big fancy touch screen deck, be sure to get kenwood, they have some the best and longest lasting touch screens around, and their meuns, button setup, variaty of settings is superb... Just my .02

Focal speakers are great, but I'd also recommend Infinity and Alpine, as they're more readily available in retail stores.

Speaking of retail pricing, I'd buy everything online rather than Best Buy. Being an ex-employee there, I'm still sickened by how much margin they earned on everything they sold. Go to crutchfield.com or Ebay.

EDIT: For a little bit more then the price of the Alpine, you could get the touch screen double-din Pioneer video unit. Here's a link:

well, im just posting the radio from the best buy link. I have bought the radio already not from best buy tough.

I bought it a a local audio shop to support the small business. I'm going to try to support local business instead of corporations.

I paid 299 plus tax, but the deal was they gave me 1 year extended warranty for free. That made me buy from them.. I like alpine, i have never had one. But some people i know did

regarding speakers i may go with focal For thr front and alpine in the rear......

i need to hook it up but its a whooping 105 degrees out there, in my garage easy gets 125, so its going to wait...

Ive had two alpine single din units, sorta similar to yours and the worked great, never had any problems, except a cd got stuck one time.

Ya focal are so impressive bowdown.gif Im rocking those just off my head unit and they sound amazing, even cranked way way up no distortions or anything.

Infiniti would be best your next best bet in my opinion... Just take your time and shop around, just stay away from MOST JBL stuff, dual, other brands like that just wont preform as well, with car audio i believe that the more money you spend the better it will sound (IE: the more it is the better it is)

Is the 299 including the iPod cable? If so you got a decent price, if not, still decent but more average. My g/f has this exact deck in her Jetta; I'm totally jealous. It's a really nice deck and I think you'll be very happy with it. One drawback to it (really about the only drawback) is that its antenna is weak. IDK why, it's just a weird Alpine thing from what I understand. She's got Sirius in her car though, so it has no bearing on her.

When we trade her Jetta in for a Corolla next year (because the damn Jetta suxxxxx) the deck will go in the 'rolla! Aside from the blue gauge cluster, it's the best thing about the car!

being a current employee at best buy i can tell you 299 is the retail prive of the 9886
ipod cable is also included in the box on all alpine decks except the 9874
and that "free year warranty" comes with all alpine decks lmao
nothing beats best buy's 4 year service plan (as far as car audio goes)

i get that deck for a little less than 200 tongue.gif

Here are the instructions for installing an aftermarket stereo. I am bypassing the oem amp, i will remove it in the future to be sold. This si the best way. Im not going to go over how to use the oem amp because its not worth it with aftermarket radios...

For harness i used an old celica amp harness that i had, and it just plugs into the car. You can also buy this harness on ebay, or almost any other audio store.

here are the wiring codes.

carstereohelp.com

http://carstereohelp.net/wireharness_Toyota3.htm

then unite the harness and the radio harness...

then install the radio in the brackets...

take the old stereo out by removing the around the shifter, then two screws that hold the around the radio bezel and then disconnect the clock and hazard.

the tricky part is to disconnect the main harness from the amp. Its going to leave a mark in your arm. (You can easily access by removing the whole center console.)

pull it into the upper hole and connect your harness.

then reinstall everything and voila

so if anybody asks how to install a car stereo again send them this way!!!
