6G Celicas Forums _ My Project _ Swedish 5s-gte stroker

Posted by: mikaelhoglund May 6, 2010 - 6:40 AM

Here is some pictures of my ongoing St205 project here in sweden for my company JC-performance.se
Last year i did 402m in 12,76 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuTb_Fbc_Uc)
Now i´m aiming for more power in my engine and i sold the old one fall 2009.

I have now started from the begining.
I have a camry -87 5s bottom
And parts from a celica st202

As it looks now i´m going to use the 5s block and crank

Bottom end:
I have special orderd rods to fit the size of the 5s crank.
CP pistons 87,5mm stroker pistons
Clevite bearings
St202 Oilpan, st205 oilpump
ST205 waterpump and waterpumphouse.

Top:
st202 top, machined with
ferrea 1mm oversize valves sport plus
Polished under and ported to the biggervalves
Brian crover titan retainers and harder springs
Kelfordcamshafts, 272intake 300exhaust

Turbo system
I´m going to use the wrc st205 manifold and use the antilag ports to an external wastegate,
the make an adapter from the ct flange to the t4 twin entry that the Schwitzer/borg warner s254 from svenskturboservice (turboservice.se) uses...
Its able to produce more then 500-600bhp.
3" downpipe custom

Fuel:
1600cc rc engineering injectors
custom fuelrail 12,6mm innerdiameter
2 walbro 255l/h Nuke FPR
Link ecu G4 ems

Powdercoated engineparts and .

Here are some pictures:

New lights!

New sideskirts from Varis!

More pictures are coming soon!!!
Please give me some feedback and feel free to ask...

5s block with 3rd gen 3s oil pan set-up? I wanted to do that but I thought I would have oiling issues

Posted by: bccentaur3 May 26, 2010 - 9:16 AM

Did you notch the back of the 5s block? If not it won't clear the transaxle. There's a lot you have to grind off to clear. And you won't be able to use the stock bracing for the trans

Why do you think that the oil shuld be a problem? The 3gen oil system is better then the 2gen and 1gen systems.
And the oils isnt an issue on any st205 i´v seen here in sweden....

I have grinded it down alot. and last years setup i used and st202 3sge block bequas the old 3s-gte block where already bored so my pistons was to small.
I did the same to that block aswell as the 5s block.

I did some more grinding after this picture was taken to be shure....

I have started with some gearbox servicing.
I have felt som scratching on the 3:d gear.
Here is my progress so far. biggrin.gif
Centerdiff pice is now removed

Cover for the 5th gear

The cover for the 5th gear is now removed. need to make a special tool to remove one of the gears, the other shuld be removed by heating

To be continiued....

Time for a small update again.
I´m going to shorten the adapterpice from the toyota flange to the t4 twin flange by 1" i dont need a that thick one, beqaus i´m going to add the external wastgate pipes to the holes in the WRC manifold, usualy used for anti lag.

Hopefully as soon as the gearbox is done i will install my os giken clutch and the box. Put it all back in the car and start creating the tubing and downpipe tongue.gif
And wire in the standalone ecu from Link.

2 walbro 255l/h Nuke FPR

2 things.

Why an older 1987 block?

and

2x fuel pumps is seriously awesome.

Has anyone put a 5sgte stroker in a gt-4 b4? (i assume they have its just not common, mr2's are more common)

The block is one just because the are alot cheeper, and the only differens from the later once is that they are stronger around the waterpump.
But i dont think i´m going to have that high temps in my engine so that going to be a problem.

The Walbros i think going to work great. last year on my last engine i think i was stressing my single walbro to the max. So this year I going to test 2 mounted together in the tank.

I´m also going to use GSC motorsport gen3 S1 cams instead of the once i said in the first post.

Long time since last post. but here is an update:

This is pictures of the compleated fuelrail, and the begining of the intake manifold. The pipes that are going to be the manifold is coming this week. so i´m hoping to get much more done next week.
Hope to post more soon biggrin.gif

lookin good so far man!

Is that a gen 3 3sge intake manifold you are using?

I was thinking about that too, but I figured the runners would be too short, by getting a good shot like that of what they could look like aint bad at all.

what a great project and build, and i can see the pics at work SWEET!

Hello! I did this for its easy, and i hope the toyota engineers did there homework and calculated it right biggrin.gif I´m going to update along the build so please have a look when i´m further on the road..

The engine is running alot biggrin.gif did a few 1/4mile runs last year, best was 11.61 found here on youtube: http://youtu.be/nO10T46E_Tw
Then in hit the dyno in august biggrin.gif 500whp and 600engine hp as a result. http://youtu.be/IJUq6jr9mbw
The best thing was the insane torque: 811nm@4300rpm in engine, almost 600ft/lbs

This winter i´m rebuilding to a new manifold and a bit bigger turbo borg warner custom s256 instead of the s254 from last year.
I have changed rods and new bearings in the hole engine.
New externa wastgate
New intercooler and piping
Fix the wiering so the enginebay looks better smile.gif
Also going to install rollcage and new seats. Fia aproved.
Changed my center diff to a hard one 340nm instead of 170stock.
Here are some pictures:

Engine in car again:

Oh i forgot. Hopefully new brake discs and then im rebuilding a set of broken TRD Coilovers with new konisport inserts and refurbish all.

Nice man! what year 5s block are you using, looks to be pre-98, its holding up okay for you? were you using a 3sge oil pan setup or a 3sgte oil pan, a previous post had me confused.

I'm using a camry 92 5s block and Gen3 3s oilsystem, it works great ;-)

Very nice build mate! Did you finally take pictures of your external wastegate routing? I'd love to see it done biggrin.gif

How loud are the walbros together, is it that bad? I listened carefully in your dyno video but it's hard to tell when the engine is running.
Is it really annoying when running or do you only hear them at idle?

After i hade this tread I installed a Walbro GST450 in my tank, i used the old pressure side from the tank as an return, and installed a 1/2" alupipe to the front with an8 the last bit.

Here are pictures of the done manifold.

But now i´m building a new manifold in stainless steel biggrin.gif and with a 46mm wastegate.

Nice! Is it an OEM fit as it's an in-tank pump or are modifications needed?

Wow, the wastegate piping is sweet! Love the OEM look smile.gif
But all this work to finally replace this for a SS manifold? A lot of efforts sent straight to trash haha kindasad.gif

I hope I didn't miss this somewhere, but which throttle body are you using with the gen4 intake manifold?

Its the caldina stock gen3 throttlebody i think biggrin.gif or gen 4. But a friend of my uses a 2zz tsport engine throttle and it fits also nicely

If it is a gen3 tb, did you keep the IACV and cut a notch in the manifold or eliminate the IACV ?

Posted by: playr158 Jan 30, 2014 - 8:45 AM

I applaud the use of the anti-lag ports for the external wastegate that is very impressive!

The pump fits good in the tank. I used a hoseclamp to tighten the pump in the oem place. But i needed bigger hoses for the pressure side, i did drill a new hole throgh to the tank and installed a 90degrees fitting and installed 1/2" alupipes all the way under the car. then used to old pressure pipes a return to the tank and shifted hoses on the top.
It works great for my 600 engine HP on e85 smile.gif

I use the gen3 manifold and use the Idle motor in it. but i do not have any water connected to it just controlling it with my Link ECU. hope this answers your question.

My engineloom is done for this winter, redone it a little bit.
Son time to start it up after the rebuild. smile.gif

I have tonight started the engine again after the rebuild.
this week i also orderd some nice parts from rt-performance in UK they are comming to sweden this weekend. smile.gif
I orderd the wide front fenders and trd sideskirts. i dont like my old varis once biggrin.gif
I also are going to order new 9,5" wide 18" wheels biggrin.gif just dont know what to get need help from u guys.

XXR 530, Klutch SL5 or SL14, Japan racing JR-10 are the once I´m thinking about.
I dont know if a koncave wheel is more siutable for the st205 then wheels with a nice polished lip.
Please let me know what you think biggrin.gif

Heres a picture of my newly rebuild trd coilovers with yellow koni inserts biggrin.gif Hopfully tring them soon, just need to add metall in the pipes, the new konis are a bit shorter then the stock trd shock inserts.
