6G Celicas Forums _ Buying/Selling _ FS Group Buy: Lambo Kits

Posted by: turboinduction Oct 28, 2004 - 4:27 PM

Heya y'all.

Well I finally got my agreement between me and Extreme Doors. So I can now start selling them online. The kit on eBay is 890 Shipped. I was told this was a one time thing with racingseats.com from the owner of Extreme doors. I dont see Racingseats.com becoming big in the lambo-door field, and I'd assume once this batch is gone - they wont do it again. My price on the door kits was higher than what he was selling them for, but because I brought this up they are willing to work with me. I was asked to gather the amount of kits that are to be purchased and when. So its time for the group buy. I'm unsure on the final amount but assume its 890 or less. If its not, or they are unwilling to work with me, then I wont hold anyone in a purchase. This group buy is for people that are very serious about this kit. Keep in mind, MSRP on these guys is 1400!! So, please add your name to the list and I'll tell you when they will be available.

EDIT: I got them to tell me the price, and they gave me the same price as they did the seller on Ebay. But I can do it a little cheaper than he can. Price on the kit is 850 Shipped. If you want the 100 degree upgrade, tack on an extra 100. Thanks again guys. I NEED 10 PEOPLE TO ORDER!

Posted by: turboinduction Oct 28, 2004 - 10:24 PM

no prob d3mon, I'll add you do the list. It wont go through until November anyway. Clipse - I really cant show you the kit until someone puts the 100* on. But you can see the 65* kit above and just assume. Its a small risk that you wouldn't like the 100* but I'd doubt it. Keep em coming guys, sooner the 10 is hit, the sooner I can process orders.

I would if i could afford it, give me a month or so to rais the extra money. If I make the money i'm in.

Posted by: turboinduction Oct 28, 2004 - 10:31 PM

I'm assuming this should go down around mid-november

Can you do it by then?

-Ti

very intrested
hopefully funds will be ready by mid-nov

Posted by: neoklis Oct 29, 2004 - 1:05 AM

Put me on the list. I can pay whenever the kit is available. Btw, i want the kit shipped to New York. I will arrange transport from there to avoid extra shipping costs and taxes. Any further discount if i get 2 kits?

Posted by: droptopGT Oct 29, 2004 - 1:25 AM

tag me up on that list too, im gonna need a little time with the cash though.. when exactly is the deadline? i gotta wait till my house gets sold before i can start spending the cash ya know?

Posted by: 946thGenGT Oct 29, 2004 - 2:32 AM

I would really like to be in but I won't know for another week or two. I just hope it's not too late by then.

Posted by: turboinduction Oct 29, 2004 - 8:28 AM

Mid-November Guys!! We'll do it right around then.

I'll make a new list.

And Neoklis, I can knock off 10 bucks on every kit after 1 because shipping will be cheaper. I know its not alot, but I hope it helps.

I really am right at my break line with these kits. The guy on eBay bought massive amounts and got the best discount available. I talked them into the same discount, so you wont see this price on these kits anywhere else.

If you have any more questions, keep em coming.

Are these kits foing to be avail after the GB? Say jan?

Posted by: frotou Oct 29, 2004 - 5:30 PM

I have some questions ;

1-What will be the "normal price" from you after the group buy ?

2-I need to know if a wiring is in the kit (because we need longer wires).

3-What about the inner fender ? (ABSOLUTELY NO CUTTING ?)

4-Post comments if someone have already this kit in is car.

I`ll take my decision after that .

Thank you very much.

yes available, however you will have to create another group buy (10 people) to get the same pricing. Otherwise if not a group buy, expect the prices to be higher. If your considering, I'd urge for you to do this group buy. I dont see maybe people considering lambo doors in january, especially since the first wave is purchasing now. However, as stated above, if you really want to wait til January and you think you can gather 10 people, then I'd be more than willing to work with you.

1. Standard pay will be 950-1000 shipped depended on the need and want on eBay. I did this group buy to aid 6GC.net in getting lambos. I'm really not making much money of this at all.

2. Wiring (as stated in the FAQ in my first post wink.gif ) has an extention so the door can raise up

3. Fenders (also in the FAQ) dont need to be cut. Some inner fenders might need to rolled not to catch, but its not that big of a deal. But noooooo cutting!

4. The only person to install this kit is Rob, via the pictures in the first post. He says the kit really wasn't that hard to install, and overall he is very happy with it. Madmods also has lambo doors (custom made) and says the attention is unbelieveable. Owning something thats only found on quarter million dollar Europe speed machines is something to marvel at. smile.gif

Thanks for the questions Claude, hope I answered them. And feel free to post anymore questions you have. smile.gif Also, heres a couple of the FAQ.

Group buy will finish in mid-november. So try to get funds by then. Warranty will only void if you modify the kit or you use it in a way its not meant to be used. So, yes, you can DIY and still have warranty. Please let me know if you'd like to be added on the list.

Claude,
I'm in wisconsin, so i'm not too far away. Just tack on an extra 25 bucks and it should be ok. Total is 850 + 25 shipping = 875 to Canada. That is via Air Express and should be delivery in 4-10 days.

Silvercell,
Standard degree should be around 65* degrees. According to Extreme Doors, this degree is ok for most, however a 100* degree conversion is available and priced in my first post. I will ship the standard kit unless you state that you want the coversion.

I just checked the package - the kit weighes 32lbs. So keep that in mind.

I notice in the FAQ on extremedoors.com it says "Shipping is free within the United States and Canada". Are the products being shipped straight from them or to you first?

Yes, they ship to me, and I must reship. You get free shipping from them if you order from them, but then again.... your also paying 1400 for the kit.

To the person that already has installed this kit (blue celi with invader kit) or to neone else that has already asked this question...

How easy do the doors lift up? Like is it a jerky motion or is it nice and smooth?? also how much pressure is needs to be applied before the shock takes over?

and do you have to push the door out and then up or just open it and it goes from there?

same ?'s with closing it also

Thanks

from my experience with vert. door kits is:

you can get in and out of the car without pushing the door up, there is enough room for the door to swing out for you to get in.

once it swings out, approx. 1 1/2 feet you have the option of pushing the door up.

think of the door going up as the same motion as our hatch lids.

ahh, i wish i could get these, but, so close to christmas, and im buying another car....

Posted by: SilverCell94 Nov 1, 2004 - 1:00 AM

turbo,

im not too sure if the pics of the celica with the kit installed are bad or is it the kit?

a couple of my teammates have lambo doors and i noticed something different, the doors on the celica just go straight up.

all of the other kits i saw go up and out in an angle, like you see here

verticaldoors.com

it will be great for the kit to go up and out since it will make getting in and out of the car much easier.

thanks

sorry for the back to back post,

Hey all, to answer a couple questions:

I door opens like normal til about 1 1/2 like said above, then if you lift, it'll raise much like the hatch on the Celica. It should come back down with the same force. It should be smooth, but with the ability to stop it where you want, the the hatch.

The door will be more 'straight up' than most kits and decah because of the no-frame design of the door. It really doesn't need to get out. But if you look at the kit on the first page of this post, his car has them tilting out just a little. That should be how the kit is. Granted i wish he took a direct side shot of his car to show, but I cant ask for too much.

The doors are very easy to lift up. When you first put them on the shocks are not broken in so they want to pop up right away. They start to break in after a couple of days. It is a very smooth motion, and not very much pressure needs to be applied. You have to push the door open to clear the interior panel then they go straight up. When closing you have to pull down kindof hard till it reaches the bottom then close it like a normal door. I say get them you get so many head turns it is just unbelievable. Shot from the side

1-Do we need to removed the fender for the instalation ?

2-How is the fitting of the door when closed , like normal ?

Thanks

You need to remove the fender to take the stock hinges off and put the new hinges on, but when your door is closed it looks like normal. Nobody knows you have them until you open your doors, and people are like "DANG look at that" biggrin.gif

In order to take off the fenders do we need to remove the front on the invader kit?

Posted by: forkee Nov 1, 2004 - 6:12 PM

Will it break if someone opens it fast and doesn't kno it goes up? Or if ur bringing it down and u don't know when it stops? Also, is it a sharp horizontal-vertical movement, like an L, or is it more of a guided curve, like a J.

One more thing, I've noticed with my trunk shocks, that when its left open for awhile, the grease along the outside of the shock dries up and its really hard to close the trunk. is it just me or does that happen to everyone too? Anyways, I was wondering if the same thing happens to the door shocks. Thanks.

Posted by: C3L1CA Nov 1, 2004 - 6:53 PM

The hinge itself shouldn't break the only thing i am worried about is my fenders cracking. They touch when the doors are all the way open but they will not break. The worst thing that can happen by not opening them right is your interior panels could rip.You can make it look like a J or an L depending on how you open it. I tell people to open it like an L so they don't rip my interior panels. I open it like a J because i am good. You adjust it so it can only go down so far. You just pull it down till it stops then shut it like a normal door. I haven't noticed it being harder to shut after they have been open like your hatch.

Posted by: turboinduction Nov 1, 2004 - 7:30 PM

I was going to say the same just out of experience with shocks. Basically is gonna be like he said. I wouldn't concern myself with it cracking the fender to much because the shock isn't THAT strong and its not like your throwing the door upward. If guests get it the car and dont know, they will open the door like normal, it'll stop.... they be taken back. Most that'll happen is that their hands will slip off the door handle. I'd probably say that your door handle itself would break before this kit, so its like me saying .... it wont break. Then you'll tell them to lift the door, they'll lift it like the hatch. So its not gonna fly towards the sky. Upon closing, you'll just pull the door down until it wont go futher, then close it like normal. Again, its not like someone is crashing down on the door to make it fall, it'll just be a slight tug and close. smile.gif As for your hatch, your shocks need replacing. The shocks are slightly leaking probalby due to age. It happens, not a biggy though. These shocks and parts have warranty on these, so dont worry about faulty parts!!!

Oh, as for the interior panels with this kit. According to Rob, the door will rest against the handle of the door. So it clears the vinyl and leather by a couple inches. Its possible your Decah kit didn't give you enough clearance. Remember guys, this kit was MADE for our cars, so they took in all of these factors. Thanks for helping out C3L1CA, its nice to have someone with experience talk about the kits. smile.gif

thanks for the pic,

dont mean to be a pain but can we also get a pic of the back one door at a time.

thanks

Posted by: NEVERSTOP Nov 2, 2004 - 12:33 AM

I would like a pic of where the door makes contact with the fenders

Posted by: forkee Nov 2, 2004 - 1:36 AM

also a pic of the inside of the drivers side raised door from passengers seat point of view (or vice versa). i think that would give a good idea of how high the door handle is. thanks for all the pics, btw. sorry to keep bugging.

Posted by: My94RedCelica Nov 2, 2004 - 3:14 AM

If you have an Invader bumper, well any bumper for that matter, you do have to remove it to take the fender off. There is a bracket with three screws that hold the fender dierectly to the bumper. then you have one screw inside your door jam, one underneath car on the bottom of the fender and the ones under the hood.

I have a question. I want to shave my door handles, will this kit interfere with any of that? Thanks.

Posted by: neoklis Nov 2, 2004 - 3:15 AM

hey Ti,

they say they include wire extensions in the kit. Any idea what that is and how it works?

Posted by: turboinduction Nov 2, 2004 - 9:37 AM

94RedCelica - shave em' and it'll look even better.

Neoklis - the wiring is just extentions, you just gotta splice and retape. Shouldn't be too hard. I'm checking on shipping for you.

I'm unsure. I really wanted this to be the only group buy until a much later date. Also, just a FYI to all. Racingseats.com was taken off eBay for being bad. And extreme doors.com closed their account because he was selling them under invoice. I was told to price these kits out (for eBay) at 950 + shipping. I'm gonna have to sit on that for a bit though. So, i'm not sure when my next group buy will be. Playr, do you think its a 2 weeks issue? I might be able to work with you if its a short term. Of course, this doesn't give everyone the right to do this, but let me know.

-Ti

Posted by: turboinduction Nov 5, 2004 - 10:00 AM

I asked Extremdoors.com some questions to help everyone out.

Questions:
1. How does the 100* Kit work
2. What exactly is the degree if we take the standard kit.
3. Does the door move up quick and does the hinge stop it or the interior stop the door.
4. Will there be problems with the door and the fender when its open fully.
5. If unknowing people try to open the door, will it break, or what will happen.

Replies:
1) As far as the angle conversion kit goes, they are still in the completion stages of R&D. What they are is an extension piece that bolts on to the tip of the lift shock. This allows the doors to lift more and at a greater angle.

2) The degree of the standard kit ranges from 45-70 degrees. Hard to tell

3) The door moves up slowly. It may have to be guide about a foot up before raising by itself. It is stopped by the shock.

4) The will be absolutely no problems with the door or the fender once fully opened. The door stays away from the fender and will not come close to scratching it.

5) The kit is made to withstand 500 pounds of force. Our kits our build to withhold accidentally opening the door unknowingly. It will just be like opening your door with regular hinges to much. Same idea. We have never had a kit break under any conditions including kits modified by the customer to fit a custom application.

Posted by: SilverCell94 Nov 5, 2004 - 11:11 AM

if you get the 45-70 degree standard kit, and you dont like the openong space is it fully upgradable to the 100 degree kit?

yes. If you buy the standard kit and think "i need more" then your more than welcome to purchase the 100* conversion. Also, when adding the 100* kit on, you dont need to take off your standard kit. It just adds right on. According to the answer that my rep gave me, it an additional peice on the shock for greater angle and futher distance. smile.gif

wonder if there would be a way to hook these up to a remote and some door poppers so you could get the door to raise all by itself....

kinda like angling the popper at the bottom corner of the back of the door well at a 45* angle

who knows.. just a thought

Might be possible. If you put a low resistance spring between the door and the frame. The use a autoloc popper. Door pops, spring pushes door past the 2 foot mark, shock should do the rest. Something to try.

auto lock has a kit out that is motorized with door poppers.

like all auto lock products (door poppers, suicide hoods, hinge relocation kits) they are 95% universal.

just google their site (dont know it off the top of my head) so you can get more info.

Hey Ti,

Just took a look on extreme doors site. They have a 30% discount on their products for the holidays and the retail everything at $900-$950. I think you should make a fuss about it saying that it affects your business and demand a further discount (and probably a better price for us maybe?)

When do you expect they will be sending them to you?

Posted by: turboinduction Dec 1, 2004 - 11:02 AM

All kits will be shipped directly from the company at the end of this week with the exception of the 2 that I ordered and Neoklis's kits which I will delay for a few days. If anyone is interested in these 2 extra kits, please inform me because interest in them is building. Fastest response will be via PM. Thanks again guys.

So, if you want one of the extra 2, please let me know as soon as possible. Playr, sorry bro, I wish I could and if I had capital I would. I understand its not your fault TI so dont take it that way but im gettin tired of coming hope from the 16hr works days ive been pulling and NOT seeing a nice little box outside my apartment door... they better get here next week

Posted by: My94RedCelica Dec 19, 2004 - 11:38 PM

I know you all want your kits, I'm impatiently waiting too, but given the time of the year, delays should be expected. I work at a post office and I know we have been getting swamped with packages. I'm sure it's the same with UPS, or however it's being sent. These people should know not to make us wait though. . lol smile.gif

Posted by: forkee Dec 20, 2004 - 11:40 AM

Ok, I live in the same county. If they mailed it last monday, it should have gotten to my door in 3 days maximum. I can understand, yea there might be delays, but more than a week?? Kinda rediculous don't u think??

Posted by: turboinduction Dec 20, 2004 - 2:07 PM

Hey all,
I'm incredibly sorry for the delay. I'm very upset because this is a reflection on how I conduct business. I assure everyone though that this is not my doing and I've done nothing but try to speed up the process. I kind of got flustered with Neverstops post because he's right. They should have been in everyone's hands already. So I called a different salesman (not mine) and asked for the number to speak with the owner, Mike. After talking with him he said that the company that manufactures the kits is in Asia. After looking at the invoice for my order, he said there was a miscommunication between them and the company that makes them because they don't speak English. All in all, that’s fine and dandy, but I'm still mad. The salesman I've dealt with is younger and in college. Of course, with mid-terms he lacked with his abilities to monitor the progress of this transaction. To me, I don’t give a damn. This should have been fixed a long time ago. I told them that I wanted these kits to everyone at NO later than the 15th, sooner if possible. After talking with Mike, Extremedoors.com will have the kits on Friday or Monday depending on shipping around a holiday. He told me he will ship it to you all the same day it arrives. I asked for him to get me a tracking number for the batch from Asia. He told me he was sorry, but I also told him I'm dealing with 7000 dollars of other peoples money and they don’t want to wait any longer. If anyone would like copies of the emails that we've sent back and forth, I'm more than willing. I paid the deposit of 500 dollars so they would make the kits on November 18th. I paid the rest of the bill on December 4th when I thought they were done. I was told then, they'd be in your hands within a week from that date. You can see this from my excitement in the previous posts. Again guys, I’m deeply sorry and if I can speed this up any faster I will.

Sorry,
-Ti

Its ok TI- I know you wouldnt bone us!!! You Da man, for getting this going for us, so if waiting is what we have to do, then thats what we have to do

Posted by: forkee Dec 22, 2004 - 1:29 AM

tell them since its in their wrongdoing, to throw in that 100 degree add on, hahahaha. or give us a discount or something. Next day delivery would be nice.

Posted by: neoklis Dec 22, 2004 - 10:34 AM

Tell them we demand at least a 10-15% discount for the delay. I am sure they will be o.k. with it as i think they are making a lot of money on us. heck, they are selling them retail for $100 more than we paid for. being an accountant for many years now, you can be sure it is not costing them more than $300-400 maximum.

we could always threaten them with cancelled order and our money back for the delay.

Posted by: turboinduction Dec 22, 2004 - 1:13 PM

Heh guys, I wish I could ask for a discount - and in all manner, they should give us one. Here is the latest as of this morning.

Ok, so from what I understand they will ship out from Asia to you tomorrow.  You should receive them monday or tuesday depending on UPS.  You will ship them out by the next day and my customers should receive them in December or shortly after if they live further away.  They only reason Im confirming this is because of the delays.  My customers are upset with me because of a early date promise.  So before I state any date, I just want to make sure that this is correct.

-Morgan

I pinned them to a wall with this email. If they mess up, I will retract payment or best get a discount. I did this so you all can see and so they cant say I misunderstood. So, looks good, you should get them starting next week.

TI it sounds like you've done all you could, if people don't understand that, then there's ntohing you can really do more.

Posted by: forkee Dec 22, 2004 - 6:12 PM

lol, im just messin'. i just wanted to have this on as a christmas present for myself. i really don't care if it takes another 3 weeks now, since the "deadline" wasn't met. it makes the company look bad, not you. they appear to be very unprofessional. and the fact that they bring up their personal life, (school, parents, wife, etc.) is absolutely NO excuse for delays. If that is the case, then they are in no position to conduct professional business in the first place. the world does not revolve around them, rather it revolves around the business which is being conducted. If this is how reliable they are to all their clients, i wouldn't do business with them ever again.

last week and this week were the ideal weeks for me to put this on my car, since it is between semesters and i dont have to worry about school. next week ill be working 70 hours, then back to school jan 3, with the normal 60 hour work week. they need to realize that their extended due date messes up other peoples schedules too. granted, certain unexpected delays should be considered, but no more than a full business week. time is money.....

Posted by: neoklis Dec 23, 2004 - 8:04 AM

I stick to my prevous point. We should demand a 10-20% discount or threaten them with cancellation of orders. Its so funny that i ordered them from Cyprus, paid from NY, produced in Asia, Sent to the states, then sent to Ny and then be sent to me in Cyprus. BTW if i knew they would be produced in Asia, i would probably find a way to order them directly. Hell, the cost of shipping is probably more than the cost of production, as they will go around the world at least one time.

Posted by: frotou Dec 23, 2004 - 3:47 PM

Ti , I suggest you to email here all your messages between the company and you ; we will know what to waiting for ... Thanks .

When this kit is installed, is it still possible to open youre door on a normal way? or does it always have to flip open towards above? i case of small parking places smile.gif

No offense to you TI but i think if i were you i would kick their asses, and start doing some bit**ing at this company! Otherwise i am going to cancell. Sorry for not posting, I didn't see that anybody wrote in here.

Update:
I talked to Jay (salesman) and Mark (owner) yesterday and today with a little bit of frustration. They said that the shipment didn't leave Asia last week because of the shipping problems they have (storm and whatnot). But they contacted the company yesterday and they are ready to go. I'm f**king pissed. This is bull. Its now a month and a half of me being a nice little buyer and I’m not too happy. Not because me, but because of you all. ITS NOT MY MONEY. So did a little research. Found the place I sent the money was another motorsports in CA. Called them, got to Mark. Which told me that they WILL be shipped by Friday and told me that he would give me a tracking number by Thursday so I can give it to you all for comfort. So regardless, you should all have a tracking number by the end of the week. That would at least calm my temper figuring something is ACTUALLY happening. I do think this is the last time I'll do business with them. I'm gonna be contacting other lambo door companies and find out if someone else can make the product. According to their customers, Extreme Doors is good. They deliver on time and the products are great. Well when this ever finishes, I hope we can say the later part of that.

Again, please accept my sincerest apologies. If I could make this work any faster I would. As for the threatening, I have. It seem to work for the DEFINATE day and tracking number. Time to sit back again.....

Again, sorry.

Not to bad figuring its going across the country. Well it looks like everyone will have them by the 26th. Claude's should arrive on the 25th and pass inspection for a day. So, the last 4 days of the month should look good smile.gif

Just talked to Ryan (DJMC) on the cell. Looks like he got it already. Says it looks good for quality. Let me know when everyone else gets theres in. Also, if someone can take a picture of the stuff out on the ground, that would be great. Get the cameras ready.

nice - if you can take a picture of the kit in the box or spread out on the ground, that would be great. Post it in the lambo door thread in Exterior please. I just want to have an idea of what the kit looks like. smile.gif Thanks

i took some pics and theres a link in the exterior section. i kno ti saw 'em, so this is just a heads up if u dont normally go through all the threads. i havent had time to write anything about them. so for right now ill just say it took around 5 hours for one side (cuz i didn't kno what i was doing), you NEED an extra body to help u hold the door, the hinge takes forever to line up, you DO need to roll or cut a part of the inside of the fender because the shock gets in the way. i took pics of where i lined up the bolts on the hinge cuz it has to rotate at a certain angle otherwise when u bring the door all the way down it will be too low and it wont close. u can see pics of my messed up fender now, lol. the incuded paper with grainy pics and instructions was a complete waste and the cd didnt work in my computer. ill write up a how to when i have more time, unless someone beats me to it. anyways, back to work. =p

Thanks a bunch forkee. I was aware of the inner fender cut because of the heads up from the member that put these on in page 2 or 3. (page 13 - wow).

I will say this: YOU NEED MORE THAN ONE PERSON!

Forkee, I commend you for doing it by yourself. I took doors off by myself once, too hard frown.gif You're brave.

Well when you get the change, post some more pics smile.gif
