So in my 94 gt my cig lighter only works when the car is turned on.

Most cars are hot all the time cause they are ran off the battery... Is everyones 6gen cig lighter wired like mine? Or are all of your guys cig lighters hot all the time?

mines the same.. needs to be turn on. by the way, if it has consistant power there and your cigar lighter is in all the time to be hot, wouldn't that drain your battery?

All toyotas are wired to be like that. There are ways to bypass it, by just wiring it up directly to a 12v constant source instead of a 12v ignition controlled source.

I wired mine and my ICE [so I can listen to music and smoke cigs while working on the car] to a constant 12v right there in that part of the harness. It doesn't drain the battery an appreciable amount - if you DD you'll be fine. I'll try to remember what I used as my source and let you guys know - it's a 5min job.

EDIT - Ah yes - it was the constant 12v to the radio I wired them to [same circuit anyway so easy 5min job]. I just hooked both 12v for the radio and the one for the lighter to the 12v constant that was already present in the radio harness. As I said before there is no noticable draw on the battery [def will be ok if DD]
