7afe Engine, 5 speed, Coupe/Fastback

I've had my new Celica for about 2 months now and very happy with it. The ac works perfect and all but I notice it leaks into the passenger side carpet until there's no more coolant and the car ends up overheating, only when the ac is on. I had a mechanic by pass the heater core and plugged the two hoses back at each other and it's still leaking after a month, just not as much. He told me it could be the extra run off water left in the heater core but just recently I checked the radiator and it looks empty.

I was wondering what is the gray bar that's link to the bottom of the radiator on the passenger side going through a pulley and to the top of the bay and running along the whole passenger bay side into the firewall?? I think that's the reason my passenger side is still leaking despite the heater by pass. TIA

Note* car lasted 2 weeks after purchase with ac on every day, I drive like 100+ miles a day. Coolant ran out and it overheated causing hoses behind the water pump to expand and leak outside the water pump(fixed by tightening hoses). For anyone else having this leakage when the car overheats, my mechanic said small problems tend to show when big problems happen, almost paid $500 to replace my waterpump lol.

it does sound like you described AC lines but I doubt they are related to your coolant problems.

It has to be the problem, because how else would it leak into my passenger carpet? Heater core is by passed. I'm still trying to find a way to plug it from running any coolant through it.

This is where a few pictures would be worth a few thousand words, it almost sounds like a previous owner's doings if there are hoses carrying coolant going into the passenger compartment that isn't to the heater core.

The AC lines don't carry coolant, if the system is charged you're in for a face full of toxic freezing chemicals if you disconnect them as well as thick hard to clean oil sprayed everywhere.

Is it leaking coolant into the cabin or just water? From what he was saying it sounded like coolant. If it's just water and is in conjunction with A/C use it's your evaporator.

I'd say coolant cause the radiator isn't topped. And it overheated before the heater core was bypassed. It only leaks when the ac is being used other than that the carpet is dry.

Does what's getting into the cabin smell slightly sweet and feels kind of slippery? Which the A/C can make it overheat if the fans and/or condenser aren't operating correctly.
