6G Celicas Forums _ Interior/Audio/Electrical/Wiring _ How to install vincent_doggy's arm rest cover

Posted by: malpaso May 23, 2007 - 5:22 AM

For everyone who is not sure about arm rest cover installation smile.gif

1. dismount arm rest (everyone will handle for sure wink.gif, just two screws holds it)
see stock surface after years is really ugly and dents are deep kindasad.gif

2. remove six screws below

...and you will see inside of arm rest...
IPB Image
...where absolutely nothing is needed to do. If you want you should remove OEM cover
but it's glued really tight. Personally I didn't do that... and I recommend not to do that as well!

3. find right direction of new cover
IPB Image
...cuz one side is tinner! However it can be recognized easily.

4. pull out new cover (I believe it's better that way...)
IPB Image
I have used needle and bit thicker stitch. Also is necessary make some holes for screws...

5. screw arm rest together
IPB Image
It's bit harder because of stitching inside. Also this step will a bit more pull out new cover again.

You can see no dents visible and cover fit's perfect... (that's why I recommend keep OEM cover where it is)

6.install arm rest to the car again... (piece a cake wink.gif)
results are below:

95CelicaST: so post results then wink.gif. Do you have black&black like me or some different colors?
toyotacrazy/Jaws4God: USD$40 shipped (via unbelievably fast post service)
Valo666: Never! biggrin.gif. It may cost a lot of money (I believe "packet" is right word for it biggrin.gif) and current ones are not so bad at all... wink.gif
vincent_doggy: you are good businessman smile.gif. I wish you have also chance find somewhere http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f217/shinpuu/6cg/mist_one.jpg and sell it wink.gif biggrin.gif. Use your skills! wink.gif

Well I just installed mine today after i came home from doing a mid-term (actually did it while I was at work).
ETA: 1.5 Hours approx
I had to cut mine because when it came for the part to do the stitching, it was too long.

In the beginning (airbrushed yellow)

Then the cutting..

Final product!
