Thought about a progress thread for a while, but i should have started when i first got it, but i'll try my best to show most stuff anyway.
October 10, 2009. My 19th birthday. I woke up real bright and early, birthday morning, to drive 2 hours to sydney to look at a celica.
Horrible condition, and i was dissapointed. Young P platers car which wasnt looked after at all. they knew i was coming early that morning, car was filthy, tail light broke, sh*t everywhere in the car, you could tell its been mistreated.
The trek home was quite a sad one, i thought hey, a car for my birthday would have been sweet (even though i was paying haha).
Once home, stopped by another for sale which was advirtised on ebay, and picked her up.
Talked them down near $4000 off the price, so was a fair deal.
Heres the first pics i took.
200k km's on the clock, but previously owned by only 2 older lady drivers, so i'd say its never hit 100,
The first mod i chose to do was to remove those horrid hubcaps, and get wheels and 15% Tint.
17" CSA race rims, 205/45r/17 Tyres.
At the same time i painted my calipers red.
Around the same time as my wheels, i installed my sound system. I don't have a pic on here atm, but can get some if requested.
Pioneer 3100 Headunit, 2x 6.5" Kicker Splits, 350w 2ch Kicker amp, 800w Slimline Kicker 12" Sub. The stupid spare wheel required me to either get a slimline, or make a new floor or remove the tyre, so i went the slimline, its decent enough for my liking atm.
The next 'Mod' to my memory would be the Crystal clear side indicators, with silver bulbs.
Followed by wolfies clear front indicators, and a cheap Mesh grill.
Than through months of searching, looking for good deals, i found a set of JDM Tails.
Removed the inner orange lens.
A few months of saving, and contemplation of which suspension line i should go down, i finally chose a set of BC BR Racing Coilovers. 30 way adjustable damping, camber adjustable top mounts.
It sat like this for a while, untill my slow ebay addiction kicked in, and i picked up a universal rubber lip.
It didnt serve much purpose, nor did i try and cut it properly. It was a unique look, so i thought what the hell. When i took it off, there were scrape marks UNDERNEATH the lip, which was strange. Silly low cars.
Than next, came one of the best additions.... the 6GC Sticker! Lovin it.
Next came Projectors. Spent the day learning how to remove the front bumper for the first time, and wiring them up
Whilst installing the projectors i picked up a SAAS pod filter and aluminium pipe. Pics upon request, bit of a qhetto setup though, haha.
This is how she sat for a few months.
I finnally got sick of the sucked in look in the wheels, and decided on some Spacers
JJR 20mm in the fronts, and 25mm in the back
Before
After
To make the spacers fit, i had to grind off say, 2mm off the studs, which i thought was an acceptable amount. First time with an angle grinder though..was an experience haha.
I DO scrape a little when taking corners too fast, or have a car full. The rears are only JUST touching, so i shall get them rolled soon.
For quite a while, i had liked the look of the euro splitters. One day i found a decent conditioned set, and got them shipped right away.
A week of them being in my possession, painted and installed.
A week later, my OEM sides arrived, also quickly followed by paint and installation
And this is pretty much where it is currently at.
I have a set of rear SS-III splitters to be painted in the next weeks and installed, but apart from that, i'm fair content.
Continuously looking out for a few goodies that i may purchase, JDM sills, rear oem seat covers, new wheels
But appart from that, im happy atm, and will now start looking into Headers/Exhaust/Performance mods.
Heres a couple more pics for the lols.
Hard to tell, but i added little key hole plugs
P.s. As you can see my camera quality/skills have also progressed Will post some interior shots another day.
Cheers
Very simple and clean look but it looks AMAZING!!!
Camera skill progression > car mod progression.
Your car looks awesome! Love your choice of mods with the red.
Your car is now my favorite one here Such a clean an simple look to make it awesome.
sexxxyyy
dude great progress with this car.
Thanks guys
The weather hast been the best atm, so the painting of my rear SS-III splitters are on hold.
So i embarked on another project.
My custom boot install.
Here is how i was currently set up, minus the wires showing.
And the main reason for doing is this, was because the spare tire sticking up was reallly bugging me.
So i took out my carpet, and traced that onto my Particle board.
After a few minor adjustments, i came up with this:
The hole on the right is for my amp to sit in.
The way i wanted my boot to look, was to have my sub laying down, and not vertical.
The only way i could achieve this with my current sub was to lean it against the tyre and the seats, meaning there would need to be a hole for the sub to rest in.
This is the result.
I than added supports underneath to level out the new floor, and everything went together nicely.
I than cut a second piece of MDF to sit over the sub to make it all flush, ill post other pics tomorrow, but this is how it is atm.
Everything is sitting good, although since my sub isnt sitting ON the new floor, the floor is jumping when i go over bumps.
So any pointers on a way to weigh it down or secure it would be great
I'll be wrapping the floor tomorrow and show the finished product.
So heres my first attempt and wrapping with vinyl.
Might do a better job another day, but it looks okay for the moment
Cracking effort there mate, top job......
looks awesome mate. so different to how it started!
Finally got some good weather, so operation Paint/Install rear splitters were a go.
Came out really well. Had to modify them a bit to fit correctly, but was all simple stuff.
Now to decide if i want to go SS-III on the front aswell. Hmm.
Oh wow. I'm totally de-spoilering mine. Looks gorgeous.
stop doing this too me. I hate you guys now I'm so jealous, so many progress threads with red celica's. The red on the celica is just drop dead gorgeous. I want my celica painted just like yours!!!!! very nice celica. I'm liking it a lot, it looks a bit better than manphibian's celica. I think it could be the shade of red that's a tad different, but I just can't put my finger on it.
naw stay with your current front bumper and euro splitters they look awesome!
Haha, thanks bonzai. I've always loved manphibians car when i first got mine
I am liking the euro splitters too, the only downfall is the difference between them and the skirts and splitters.
SS-III would flow better..but.. >< I don't know anymore.
And spoilerless all the way (Y)
I like spoilerless on some cars and on some I don't. I really like it on yours though. I Think your car would look AMAZING with ss-III splitters in the front.
edit: Oh yeah, looking at it again the second pic with ss-III front splitters would be soooooo awesome.
>< It sucks that i'm a very easily convinced type of guy. The smallest compliment can change my mind in an instant.
I have been contemplating it for QUITE a long time, as the only photos i have seen are from terbeau and recently suprakid, which have looked pretty good.
Undoubtedly, someone will say the right words and put me into the buying mindset to get them
Haven't updated this in a while.
A while ago a re-routed my intake system. I'll try get some photo's but i have recently fractured my knee-cap
Basically with the intake, i have a flexi pipe running inside the stock airbox, into the fender where the pod filter is.
Looks stock, but not
Recently i have:
Got 2 new front tyres. Toyo Teo+'s.
Changed my guages and clock to Blue - Although not 100% happy, i may go with Spree's LED's.
My k's are starting to tick up
Installed a 2 1/4" Catback exhaust system.
Purchased a 6000k HID Kit which is on its way.
Currently need 2 new rear wheel bearings The sound is horrible atm.
Aaaaannnnddd, a little edit i done
Your car is one of the cleanest cars on this site
F*cking hot dude! I love every mod on that car!!!
Thought about getting ss-III splitters in the front anymore?
Possibly if a set popped up at the right price i'd consider it. I'm pretty happy with it atm once I do all my lights again, so I may consider them again soon. But at the meantime i'll wait till a set finds me haha.
sweet ride. Nice job!
Ok, so, Having a fractured knee cap isn't playing to well on my budget spending. Sitting at home all day on the net = $$$ that i don't have haha.
I've recently installed my HID's, but im waiting till i can drive to get a good night photo.
In the mean time, i'm waiting for my LED Kit from spree, and i have some new guages/bezel coming too.
So currently, since i cant drive my car is in pieces, interior wise, waiting for my new parts.
Boredom finally got ahold of me and decided to mod again haha.
Since im getting Spree's LED's, i have my old ones spare, so this is what i came up with.
The inside lights worked out pretty good. Spread evenly and doesnt light up the car, just them side pockets.
Adds a nice accent to the inside
New update time since its cold and have nothing better to do.
So my 'Wheel bearing' problem turned out to be my back tyres.
So i moved them up front and the noise is a little less noticable now
I removed the blue led's in the doors, thought it was a bit too noticable for my likings.
Anywho, Recieved my dash kit from spree, heres some pics of my AC Controls and Guages.
I also bought a set of custom made gauges, white, with outlines of numbers at night.
Could be a bit better, looks better in the photos but i'm happy atm.
Heres some pics of them in the light. Also carbon Fibre wrapped the surrounding bezel.
And the ashtray thingg.
Also modded my pre-face indicators.
Made them into Parker/Indicators. Think they turned out fairly well
Buying a set of SSIII Splitters this week, hoping they will be on in a week or too. Re-done my intake again, shall get pics tomorrow.
And that about all thats new.
The new dials look good, especially with the CF surround.
Still working on making the LED's look good in there, but it looks sweet at day time! haha.
Heres a quick pic of my new intake setup. I CBF finishing it any time soon haha.
And look whats coming by the end of next week hopefully
Test fittings.
Send your euro splitters this way
Maybe in a bit Think i might hold onto them for a while in case i change my mind again
I shall see how this looks in a week or two, and i might not want to hold onto the euro's
Yeah I really liked the look of SS-III sides and rear with euro splitters on your car, I actually didn't think you would go SS-III all round.
I suggest drop the rear more or raise the front a tad and call it a day with the euro splitters
I've thought about it for a couple of months now, so i took the plunge.
I'll see what feedback i get once i do it
I have to find somewhere to roll my guards if i want to drop the back any more, which i would like to another cm or two, but lifting the front might be easier to level it out better.
Front on photos i loveeee the euro splitters, but the side views just let the car down in my eyes.
Here's a shot of my HID's.
Its freezing outside so i cbf getting a better angle
That looks really nice,
Yeah, I know what you mean, Roll the inner lip up. Call up engineer shops, ask them if they have that tool I don't know what it's called, but it bolts onto your hub and they turn it.
I'd have to do the same if I had flush fitment lol
http://roadstergarage.net/2010/05/guard-rolling-daves-mark-ii/
Yeah, no one within the hours drive around my house can do it.
And i don't feel like buying the tool myself
I may have to venture towards sydney if i ever get the effort.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/timbail3y/5770994631/
Hopefully this will be one of the last shots before the SSIII Splitters come on.
Weathers too crap to paint them atm, hopefully through the week
Also have an EL Panel coming for my guages. Hopefully they will work out good.
So today,
I hop out of the car at work and what do i see.... My right splitter just dangling there, but 1 screw.
I don't know how long it was hanging there for, but i wasn't too happy.
So atm, i'm 1 splitter down till i put it back on tomorrow.
Anywho, got my EL Panel the other day, here are some pics of the speedo:
Lowest Dim Setting:

Highest Dim Setting:

I snapped by Temp Needle somehow too
And another of the celica number plate

If your brave you can use a hammer/rubber mallet and a heat gun to roll your fenders.
Its not the best way, but if you don't have access to a fender roller it would work.
Heat the paint up around the lip so that it doesn't crack and just slowly work the lip up
Not much of an update, but heres a few photos.
Got my SSIII Front Splitters painted today, so these shall be the last with the euro's on
I also have a mad leak somewhere in the car.. might get photos of that too
SSIII Splitters.
I'll get some better photos on the weekend. Heres some driveway pics for the moment.
Damn your car looks sooo gorgeous! How do you make your paint look so glossy and perfect? lol
I like everything about it, simply beautiful. Makes me wanna go wingless!
Btw, do you have any pictures or any writings about how to install the projectors and make your parker/indicator? Cause I don't think there's a bulb at this place in the projector right?
Whatever.. clean, clean! Love it.
I can't wait to get the splitters for my car. Looking good
This looks absolutely awesome mate.
Good stuff
Lovin' it dude!
Those SSIII splitters look 100 times better than the Euro splitters.
Thanks guys I'm really happy how they turned out, and pretty much fitted with ease keen to get some better photos.
Jordisonjr: The front splitters were prettt much bolt on. The only problem is how the end towards the centre of the car curves in to match the facelift extension. Once bolted tight enough they curve under the facelift too.
I'm lovin them.
Chaos: yeah, in the corners of the projecters there's a bulb spot. They turn on when you flick your lights on once, so them/tails light up but not your lights. Some people have put indicators in there too.
There's some write ups on projectors but in short, you need to take your front bumper off, than they're a direct replacement.
that db9 is really cool, lool im gonna took off my rear wing right now lololol, but seriously your car have bieautiful color and its stunning . the shape is just more than perfect, congrat
can you say, sexiest N/A Celica ever?? this car makes me wanna loose the wing
Tomorrow the celica is receiving New brake pads, Inner CV boot, and fixing an oil leak. Than she should be running good
This will pretty much turn into half of a photography thread until i get more money for ideas. Might as well start saving for a swap
Not usually a fan of the mesh behind the grille, but yours is done well. Blends decently and isn't like "HEY LOOK AT MY GRILLE!"
Haha yeah, that came into consideration when choosing a colour. The silver and red mesh were exactly how you said it, trying to draw attention when its not needed.
looking good. Nice HD Pictures! keep it up
This, you could say HD, but you could also say, Photoshop
Spare Time Boredom:
^ YESHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Wow that picture is absolutely awesome!
I'm envious of you, in the sense that you seem to be one of those people with a natural talent for photography. Very, very, very nice.
New Interior Pieces
My better attempt at my cold air box
Cold air box looks awesome!
Always wanted to do something like this but don't really know how haha
Update
Havn't updated in a while. Keeping cash aside to decide what to do with the car.
But recently,
New Custom White Dials...AGAIN:
Bought these off a Polish website, and couldn't have been any happier.
Also replaced my Temp and Fuel needle too.
AND!
Made my 3rd brake light into a celica one:
Up next im attempting to create some eyelids and random things
Quick fiddle with photoshop:
This week i may attempt to make eyelids..
Its my birthday next week, i may treat myself to some tasteful mods.. (ShortShift, Cooling panels, Hood Dampers)
Also looking at this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/93-99-TOYOTA-CELICA-2D-M3-Style-Trunk-Lip-Spoiler-GZ-/150667206290?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2314771e92#shId
Spoiler or Possibly for a replacement of in between my splitters... who knows.
Nice dude! I am curious to see how that little spoiler will look.
Pretttty sure this is the one your after http://i813.photobucket.com/albums/zz60/Timmyface_/IMG_3333.jpg
Timmyface, I honestly don't know what excites me more. Your car itself, or the amazing work you do framing her with your camera.
Thanks Hector. I'd say the photography whilst I still have a baby engine. Once I get a Beams or 3sgte we'll be sweet.
Nice work mate
Love it!
Wow, thanks Grega. I don't mind at all, I'm glad I can be an inspiration to you and others. Hopefully there's alot more greatness to come
Apart from thinking of a new engine, i'm still constantly thinking of new rims.
How about some Bronze 18"s, Dropped more and stanced?
Looks so sick^
Do it.
i was too was deciding between the Beams and the 3sgte at one point too and i was lucky enough to be able to test drive both and the Beams is a very fun car but 3sgte is the way to go in my opinion because you can drive it everyday just like a 5s and get about 3500rpms and it just sucks you back into your seat.
weigh your options out and figure out your power goals, from what i hear with the Beams swap is that eventually people want more power and you have a wide range of power with the 3sgte.
car looks great man keep it up!
oh ya, i went the the 3sgte
An actual update!
Hopefully get these in this/next weekend.
Than plasti-dipping my wheels
are your ss-III front spillters OEM or replica, looks like they fit great!
Its a waste of money when you get the wrong F***en size
Please enlighten me further on these smaller bolts and washers and how they work haha.
I dont know how much degree i need, but i want it like 1inch more positive thats all.
.. Getting there..slowly
Before:
After^
Not much of a change, but it's noticeable i guess.
I also raised the rear about 1cm to try get a bit less camber, but didn't effect it much.
Not quiet sure if it was worth it yet haha. May buy another set for the lower bolts... or bigger spacers
ROFL pedo bear.. My friend wants that sticker on his Accord.
Grade 10 bolts my friend. Anything in smaller diameter than the stock ones with grade ten washers. Use it up top and you're golden.
Your car is very well executed, props, man! I have a 97 celica gt with the same color. hope I can make clean and flawless too! but still got a good chunk of work ahead of me. And just out of curiousity, what did you do with your antenna? did you fill in the space of the boot? cuz my anttenna's tracks wore out so it was stuck up and got knocked off and to my surprise found the radio still works fine and was thinking of either getting another anttenna mast or finding a way to fill the hole in with something better than electrical tape.
I wish my car came with stock alloys. I'd rock them for a bit... especially next week, as im possibly changing the color of my rims, and will have to use my' Steelies' for a day or so haha
Ohhh steelies I need to get some with winter tires (I live in minnesota, nuff said) and that will give me time to clean up my stock wheels and get matching tires maybe
Thanks rabid. I might put it in for an alignment after Xmas and see how it goes.
In the meantime, this is how i'm rolling:

I'm waiting on these bad boys to dry:
Came out alright i guesssss haha.
spray paint I'm assuming. with the black rims it doesn't make it look as flush as before. the silver made it look like it was more flush with the fender and quarter panel. you should of invested in some plasti dip spray paint (that way you could of taken it off like a sticker, if you didn't like the black color).
Yeah i know, im still pretty unhappy with my rear wheels, but i guess a change is good.
AND...... it IS plasti-dip! so i can rip it off whenever i like
I have a rim sticker coming so i have a silver lip, so that may compliment it a bit and make it look a bit more flush maybe haha.
It was my first time doing it... came out pretty rough. Could probably have used a few more layers, or good layers at that. I was unsure if i was applying it to light or too heavy.
These, perchance? I'm eager to try a set. http://www.ebay.com/itm/RED-MOTORCYCLE-CAR-RIM-STRIPE-WHEEL-DECAL-TAPE-STICKER-/380361606974?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item588f51873e
Exacct ones haha. But, comic from USA to aus in Xmas time, don't know when ill get them.
Awsum!!!!!!!!!!!!
What the.... What happened? And please tell me they didn't damage the splitters when they loaded it up.
No idea what happened, car just died on me and wouldn't start.
The tow guy was a nice one luckily, got planks of wood to get it up, with say 3mm clearance of ripping it off lol.
So far, I'm replacing the distribute cap and coil today, see how it goes.
^ Turns out it was my Ignition Coil that sh*t itself. So i replaced that, the dizzy cap and rotor button. Running all good now!!
Meanwhile,
I redone my boot again, in material this time. Really happy with it, ill post another photo soon.
I love your car.
That's a clean install.
I absolutely love your celica how hard was it to remove the orange from the JDM tails, much risk involved? Cheers
@Payne: Wasnt tooooo difficult. All you need is a hot knife (soldering iron with a thin blade tip) than you just cut in the back and take it out, and glue it back on.
Or you can go the other way, and heat the whole tail light up in an oven, and remove the glass, but thats a bit of an effort haha.
Another pic of the boot, showing my needed tools
that trunk is legit. totally looks like it came stock.
You did that yourself? Man that's sick haha.
Also, sent you a message on FB. I seek assistance
Photoshop:
Very undecided on what rims to go.
those rims look very nice.
they are needed.
ya raise the car up 1 inch (to where the tires show completely ) and those rims will compliment your car quite nicely
Those wheels are beautiful... but can't help feeling they need to be another colour..... Darker grey, or satin black, or dark bronze......
Silver on red just doesn't sit right for me....
I HAVE always been keen on bronze rims. But a few people keep tossing me either side of the idea.
I've had silver/gun metal.
Black atm i'm really liking... so im not sure >< These style rims ive seen in black/gun metal look good!
If anyone has any other suggestions of rims, plz post up! haha Not looking to spend BIG bucks, but willing nonetheless
I'd def go with something a little darker.
The gun metal on red looks really good IMO, but maybe thats casue thats what i have on my car.
The bronze on red would probably look good too, but i agree that silvers a little to bright.
I'm a fan of bronze. Wait till you see my Enkei's
I'm now leaning towards some Avant Garde M310 is black. Pl-ay-ers car has them but in silver.
^ Still thinking of these similar rims. That way, if i want to go black again, i can easily plasti-dip them again
Meanwhile:
extremely nice dude,..
Looks like your car's Viagra wore off What short shifter is that?
those rims are sick, theyre like the rims on those bmws. clean celi carnal
^ lolol, they were on a different SD card, I will today .
The short shifter, believe it or not, is a 1990-1991 5th gen From TWM..
Do I want them wheels, or a camera rig... Or both
As promised Ted, and anyone else who didn't know, i cracked my splitter recently But fixed with cable ties!!
Wow the is scary you cant even tell it was broke
Its so jdm now its got zipties lol jk
Camera rig. You already Have decent wheels lol. Or sell the ones on the car, buy the rig and rims and rock the tiny ones while you're saving? Idk.
That's pretty funny on the zipties lol.
So how did that happen anyway?
Yeah I think I'll get the rig first and keep looking for rims. L undecided on the big concave ones or not :s
Splitter, pulled up to the hospital to see new newly born nephew
And since my cr is too low, hit the parking stopper thing, crunched it haha
Any news on turns? Haha
Story of my life man haha. I even considered trying to rig up a parking sensor, to the front of the car
Will be on it's way first thing tomorrow
I actually forgot about these!! Should be sick man
Where the hell did you get those?!?!?!
Hogwarts!! Haha, nah RabidTRD bought them off eBay for me coz they wouldn't ship here
i have them on my ride, i love them!
Which ebay? lmao.
I don't think I've seen these on ebay.ca in years.
Last time I did see them I couldn't afford them lol
Normal US eBay. When I searched I couldn't find them, and the user said there were no items, but Rabid got them f him anyway. eBay name was Neondials I think. Can't wait
Hmm interesting.
This guys needs to start advertising his hard to find clear corners on 6gc haha.
That or mate offer shipping to other countries haha
Shipped today. They said to expect it in a week or so. I included something very special and rare too Kind of a "thank you" token for the splitters haha.
Aw man >< haha. I was gunna say, should chuck in a local newspaper or something! lol
Also, I tossing up 2 rim styles:
Miro 111 / 3sdm 0.01's - deep concave
Or
Tenzo R Concept 9's - possibly in bronze titanium.
Kgo!
Both look sick haha. I could see why your indecisive.
I'd prob go with the concave ones.
I really do like them, minus: I think they has a shiny face, so looks sort of chromey, and I think the rears may be TOO concaved in for my liking ><
Opinions?
18x8 +30
18x9 +30
I've wanted these mags for a long time. Now I'm not sure haha. They look identical to the TSW Nurburgring.
^Yes!!! But the Nurburgring aren't in the sizing i want
The only trouble i'm having, is i want them to be flush, and not need spacers. These are the closest i've come too. or the
3SDM 0.01 or
MIRO 111 or
Tenzo R Concept 9's .... but i seen them on a car and don't really like them.
Other than than, there isnt much else out there for 5x100
photoshop
Not a big fan of the ones on the Evo. It's too busy for my liking. Personally, when it comes to Tenzo... I like the DC-5 Version 1's and the DC-6 Version 1.
http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/findWheelDetail.do?bp=5-100&pc=47770&counter=2&wd=18&rw=8

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/findWheelDetail.do?bp=5-100&pc=47827&counter=2&wd=18&rw=8
Personally, if you're going to go busy, I'd do Konig Lace:
......actually after looking at them on cars... I don't like how they look at all lol
For me, they look more busy.
I have considered the DC6 or Similar like Rota Grid's etc, but again, its hard to get them in the sizing i want.
Unless i just keep my spacers :S
I was going to get the konig lace's but after seeing them on a car in my area, I raelized that the black lip with the black tire blended in, and made them look much smaller than they actually were so I decided not to.
On second thought...
Sex.
I did consider these MSR's for a while, but I think they are a bit too busy for my liking
You're welcome lol. I didn't realize you had those rims lol
Theyre MSR'S aren't they, not the Konigs? Agree that that does look real shmick, but not for me
I think I'm going to go 18x8.5 +35 All round and keep 20mm spacers in the rear. Gives me a more options
I want some 18's on mine as well. But i'm worried the BEAMS will feel em pretty good and it'll reduce the beams to a camed 5s
What wheels do you have on right now? are they 17's or 18's? if they're 18's have you noticed loss in acceleration? Sorry for the loaded question haha. In other news, I think your car will be freaking killer as long as you keep the similar style to your above idea
My wheels are 17x7 CSA Race's. Cheapos really. I don't really recall the power gain/loss over the 15" stockies i had on previously.
A long as he keeps the tire size to meet OEM diameter, doesn't matter how big the rim is
I noticed an increase of heft at the steering wheel going from stock 185/70/14 to 225/45/17. I realize now I chose too much tire, next size I will try is 215/40 or 205/40. Regardless, unsprung weight is indeed noticeable, especially with heavy wheels like mine.
Yeah, I'll be doing 205/40/17 next time I get tires.
Yeah I'm running 205/45 on my 17's ATM. Will probably get similar and run some stretch on my new ones. Might go with some Enjei Rpf1's and keep it clean.
I'm not overly concerned about a small power loss ATM haha.
Minus the thought on rims, new camera rig shots.
New indicators soon though
LONGER POLEZZZ!
Love the new photos!
wow man that shot really makes the car look incredible. nice job.
@RabidTRD: I has a parcel waiting when I get home from work, wonder what it is!
What i'm leaning towards now
RPF01's?
Yep, what Chu think? Haha
YAY! I can't wait to see the surprise
Hopefully the special something that I included also made it ok... It's something pretty rare and hard to come by these days.
It did! But I'm not exactly sure what it is. Or what to do with it ATM haha. I'll have pics up later
RPF01's ;ook pretty good, but I think the ones you posted earlier would look better. Either of them.
Yeah, pretty sure I'm just gunna stick with the black Avant Garde M310's. They fit good and I've liked that style for a while
Nice progress man!!
Lol I'm thinking about gluing one to my oil cap >,<
It's an emblem off a original Toyota... vintage. I'm talking 1950's. You'd find them in the center of the steering wheel or... well I'm not sure exactly, because I don't see vintage Toyota's.... ever...
...by the way, it's later!!
I'll take some right now!
Pending...
There!
Edit: Them photos look alot more vibrant on my computer, for some reason :S
More vibrant?!
Looks fantastic!
The front on one looks more dull on here. But still, real happy with them
Man.
I hate when you post pictures.
Because I get soo jealous, that your car is sick, and that your camera makes it look that much better.
Im sooooooooooo jealous of your photos
Gotta be one of the looking cars on here
Someone please help, i'm stuck between two rims:
Avant Garde M310 - Matte Black:
^Not as concaved in the rear
3SDM 0.01 - Silver w/Diamond Cut Polished Face (This polished face is what im concerned about)
I think the dark wheels suit your car much better man.
They already look sick with a dark wheel.
UU'd definately go for the first ones in black, or maybe even gun metal or something not black but stil dark
^ What he said. AG wheels will fit better IMO too.
If you put these wheels on, it would be exactly how I'd want mine to be if I (Still ) had an St202/204
I like the first ones better. I feel like they fit better too.
+1 on the first ones in black, but IMO stay away from actual flatt black, and go satin.. flat is just impossible to keep clean, even with dirt repellent.
Edit before i buy these suckers!!
haha wow you going to get big 4 piston brembo on rear and 6 piston up front. jk
looks great!
These look unreal.
I'd forsure go with these after seeing the photoshopped Pic
That edit won me over too soon!! Very soon
Timmy, that should be effing illegal. Do it.
Got a little suprise... in a few hours
I have one too!!!
Yours is more exciting though lol.
Oo what's yours!!
Purple McGard lug nuts
I has red
I'll leave these here:
I'll try go out latter to get some good shots
Your cars so clean it looks Photoshopped
^ If you notice on the ground, theres still bubbles and water... Freshly washed haha. Last photo is a HDR, but its just color correction really
My wife wants your car in blue an about an inch higher lol
I Really want to drop it a little more. The back will look amazing if i did... but up fron't, i'm already slicing my tyres. I bumped my coilover dampers up a bit to limit the amount of bounce. .. Bumpier ride, but oh well
Once i get coilovers for the 1mz my goal is to have as low of a stance as you minus the hella flush
WOW!!! size, spec, spacers?
18x8/9 +30. No more spacers
Oh. My. God.
/thread
Amazing. Love it!
WOW.
..
Lololol ^ i tried
Love it!
One word - lovely
Beautiful as always, nice choice man!
words cant describe this....
they look real great!! perfect stance, the whole tire is showing (not tuct under the rear wheel well) awesome!!
10x better than the cholo looking hella flush guys haha
Did you repaint your car, or is your photgraphy skills just that good?
Just thought of this now as I compared the first page photo to this most recent one.
thanks guys. Have a little rubbig issue up front but will soon be fixed.
^and nope, same ol paint haha. That was back in the day with a raw point and shoot camera. I think my photography skills has came as far as my car
^Lowered the rear.
Lowered it down to the rim on the weekend, but it rubbed so much i got half way up the road and came back. I dont know how them VIP/Stance guys handle it ><
Pretty happy with how its sitting now. Might space the front out another 5mm down the track.
Looks really nice man!
What size tires you running? The VIP/stance guys that are running static setups have insanely stretched tires and usually a fair amount of camber to not rub as bad. Some just dont give a ****, lol. The cheaters use bags..
^Bags are for grocerys
^^ Si senor. Eff bags (lol, don't know if anyone is ever on the vw vortex and has read this debate ).
Bags are good if your going for pure looks. But I like a bit of handling too. I've got no rubbing now so I'm happy
I'm running:
18x8: 215/40/18
18x9: 225/40/18
Very little camber too. I'll probably got a 205/40 when my fronts wear out.
Mate, what a sweet looking car, much respect, loving the de-spoilered look (if that's the right term). Is it particularly hard to do?. Keep up the good work and congrats on a clean looking ride...
Excalibur
^Thanks man!
My car either came factory without the spolier, or it was taken of and painted over before i bought it. I didn't have to "De-spoiler" it myself
I quiet like it without it.
Looks so clean without, other question, where about did you get the mesh for behind the grill?. My ride still has a loooong way to go...
I got it from a local auto store (SuperCheapAuto) its just cheap stuff... i've been looking for a more OEM style mesh to put behind there
Got to love supercheap auto!.
all this info is really helpful, still new to all this.
Cheers
No updates, just photos.
Think i might add a red lip to my wheels?
A photo that actually contains an update!! :
nice pics!!!!
niceee touch with the red stripee car looks good man
Ooh the stripe looks good.
So how are those applied? My wheels don't have a lip, per se, so it's tough to visualize doing it...looks good though.
Seeing as my tyres are stretched, I put these on the insides of my wheels. And my lip on the front wasn't big enough, but it's just a bit of plastic on double sides tape, off eBay. It's thicker trim stuff not just the tape.
How do you get that much of a motion effect at such a slow speed? I can't seem to figure it out on my own lol
Clamp your camera to your car somehow. Rig/auction mount. Use a slow shutter speed (10seconds etc) and push the car.
Resizing and Graininess is bad, but i like the red lip on the roll
This week i'm putting a new clutch in, its starting to slip pretty bad.
My ex has this stuff lining her grill on the Civic. Be careful of it peeling lol.
Timmy~ What's the offset on your wheels? I'm running 18x9 ET28 front and ET23 rear but the rears are tucked. Adding spacers soon, but still.. Yours seem like a perfect fit.
I seen you were running them and was quite confused.
Most of the pictures are:
Fronts: 18x8 +30
Rears: 18x9 +30
I've recently added 5mm spacer to the rear, but in saying that you should still have more poke than me all round. When I had my 18x9 +30 up front, I had too much poke I wouldn't have been able to drive.
Wow, really? That's so weird. I'm adding a 10mm spacer to the rears, so it should be around 18x9 +13.. They'll be slightly past flush.
My fronts are +28 and they poke a bit, but I only rub on huge bumps.
I want 17x9's or 18x9's so bad!
You guys would laugh if you new what my "offset" was right now with how fat of a spacer I am running with these lame wheels (just had them laying around) . I mean, it would be a sick offset if it was on some fatter wheels or without such a big spacer. Main thing I want from bigger wheels though is stretched tires, non stretched tires rub like a mofo.
Yeah, I have 225/40 all around but tbh, I should've went with 215. I could lower her some more with those.
Yeah i'm running 225 in the rear and 215 up front. I should deffinately have gone 205 up front, as theres not much stretch at all, which means i can't really go lower or wider with a 5mm spacer.
Nice touch with the red lip, Tim!
Little update,
Recently replaced my clutch, as it was starting to slip worse and worse. Put put an OM Exedy in.
Recently, re done my boot, again, for the 3rd time. haha.
Some things need adjusting but it will do for now, don't mind the hazy iphone pics
In doing this, i added a spare amp i had lying around to my front speakers, and added 2 more to sit in the boot.
Love it. Still trying to come up with a design for CelicaChikk's speaker box myself. The idea is to push two 12s and two 10s each with a 12-1800 watt amp. Sounds rediculous but its not. It will be well worth it.
Splitters and skirts can be from a local Toyota dealer, or wrecker. Or you an get replicas off here, eBay etc. pretty easy to find the SSIII parts.
Looking good chief
Wow, them pictures of my boot were terrible.
Small Before and after my wheels.
Sweet ride
Lol
Have you thought about getting chrome amber bulbs for your signals and side markers?
I have! But it's a lot of effort that I don't have. Haha. Recently my chrome bulbs in my tails blew, so I've pretty much been running the orange all round.
Is this another case of not being able to get them in AU?
Nah, auto shops and eBay have them, I'm just lazy
Update!!
Plan B for my wheels. When my front tires wear out, i will be stretching a smaller tire on, putting my 9" up front, and my 8" in the rear with 25mm spacers.
Effectively making me:
18x8 +5 Rear
18x9 +30 Front - Reverse Staggered Fitment. We are FWD afterall
Sample photo of the fronts!
Nice bit of poke
And another photo since i haven't in a while.
'I IS SO HAPPY' haha
Car looks amazing bro keep up the great work
First of all, awesome car! I really love it! Sooooo nice.
Just a few quick questions,
Can you fold your back seats? And if not, do you miss it? Because I had a BMW coupe 3 series and the lack of a rear hatch really annoyed me on occasion. Before that I had a Prelude and the small rear opening and lack of folding seats was insufferable. I always measured every load for my mid 90s Integra, and nothing shaped up til I got my 96 Celica (which I bought this year). Now I have enough space to keep most body parts in the boot (trunk), like the spoiler and interior panels and tools etc.
Do you miss the carrying capacity?
How good is the sound from that subwoofer? I had a large bass cannon in my 'Teg that'd shake the number plates and render the rear-view mirrors useless, does it compare?
Loads of understeer with that setup, but ballsy in styling, certainly.
Edser: the back seats fold forward not back. I can take the panel covering the sun off so I can slide something up the side. But there's not too much room. There's still tonnes of room in the boot for anything I need really. Don't use it that often haha. You can see the bass wobble in the mirrors, but it doesn't move it or make you see any less
Swiss: I decided against it. It slipped my mind that my rears are a more concaved wheel and it would look silly. I think I'll either go even more poke with 15mm spacers all round. Or extend my studs and equal them out to the Flush guide.
POKE! POKE! POKE!
Dat Fitment, Dat Poke!
Right. I've missed something here. Whats this POKE thing about?
spotted at Toyotafest
Lookin good
No way! How far away were you, don't really remember the lineup haha. Got any pics?
Poking my wheels out, as far as I can. Extended studs are just pricey though
Oh I get it now. I had poke on my last car. Turns out M3 rear wheels don't fit on a '00 318 coupe. I did everything I could cutting and filing etc., short of flaring the wheel arches. Still the wheels wouldn't fit. It was a very dispiriting experience. Looked great though.
My friend parked next to you the other silver 6GC.
I parked at the end of your row
Ah sweet. Shame we didn't actually meet haha. Is your friend on 6gc? I've managed to find I think 3 photos of my car! Haha.
yea i saw your car but didnt see you hanging around it..
yea my friend is on here http://www.6gc.net/members/27026
Dude that car looks awesome. You've convinced me to change a few things on mine ie the front fogs removed and the projectors with the chrome indicators.
Looks absolutely amazing
It's been a pleasure reading this thread and some epic pics too
Removed my rear wiper today. Not for TOO long though... got something in the works for you all
Laser beam wiper blade?!
Carbon fiber hatch?
No carbon fibre hatch or laser beam. I was going to mount a yoshi on the and have him rotate but that's not it. Haha.
Te celica light, there's a tutorial on here somewhere, you just open up the housing and slip a bit I printed paper in there. That's white text on a black background cut out to fit inside
Thanks Timmy.
I'll try to do that.
I second that method, it works well. Just annoying to get it perfectly aligned.
Yeah takes quite a while. I might look into it again and make a printable template to use for everyone.
this is by far my favorite 6GC.
So:
Buckled my rim. Doing about 80km/h hit a hammer on the road. Think it's fixable, or be safe and buy a new one. Or be safer and buy 2 new 9" for the front
Turned out my rim had a 20cm or so crack in it. So its getting repaired, but i'll keep it as a spare. Feel uneasy using it as a daily.
So, a new wheel has been bought. Stuck with 18x8 though. i didnt have the spare $700 to put 9's up there.
Regarding my thread on wheel spacer bolts, turned out that I had a good 10mm or so of neg camber. Fixed that up
