It’s a federal emissions car, I believe it only has one cat. It’s broken just behind the car, I haven’t gotten a quote or gotten a really good look under it yet. I am interested but I don’t have all the details I guess. I’m hoping to get under it this weekend and see what it has going on.

So I made an executive decision and bought myself some jdm tails. I have always loved them and I had a little extra funds from my last bonus at work. So they should be here by Xmas. I cannot wait to get them.

Well got the rear speakers in. Waiting on my new bracket adapters to do the doors. But the two sounds good for 26 bucks. Also got the rear emblem changed to the Toyota emblem led for a third light. Little big but it looks good.

Nice to hear. glad you kept with it and didn't give up on it. Now you get to drive it and enjoy it!

It was trying at times, it just sat there looking at me lol. But my job finally dished some bonus money so I just pushed it. Doing new brake fluid this weekend and should be on the road this coming sunday

A couple years ago I got a 97 celica got. It was good had small issues but ran good for a few thousand miles. Then I couldn’t keep it running. I never had time/money to invest in it but I couldn’t let it go. I finally sourced my problems during my furlough and after a full tune up, fuel filter and pump, new relays, and some cleaning in the engine bay, I found my pcm was destroyed. I got some bonus at work and used it to get a remanufactured pcm and got it installed. It fired like nothing was ever wrong. It was such a huge relief to get it going. Changed the brake pads. Now I am going toput the interior back together, and do some upgrades I’ve had planned but didn’t get to because it wasn’t running. I just wanted to share my story. I’ll post some pics when I get a chance and tell a little more about it. My favorite yet completely unneeded upgrade is going to be an emblem. Well two actually. The front Toyota emblem will be a red dragon emblem I bought on eBay from Russia. And on the rear I’m removing the third brake light from the hatch, and changing the Toyota emblem to a light up emblem that will be my third brake light. I need to repair a tab on the drivers side headlamp also, the top one is no longer connected. I have a touch screen stereo coming in the mail for it. And I plan on refurbishing the stock wheels because why fix it if isn’t broken. That’s all I have for now, I know this forum is not what it used to be but I still come here often when I need an encouraging story and to seek creative ideas.

It’s going to be a long process because of the funding. But I’m looking for around 150 miles a charge, and just be able to use it as a daily driver. I love the economic sense of reusing a car and using electricity to be a cleaner source of energy. I’m not trying to race it by any means. Again I’m in a research and save point right now. But if I come up with anything or find new technologies to make it a safer or better project I will share anything I find.

So I have been thinking... I have a car that works but one day I know it will not. And I think I’m going to start saving up for a full electric conversion. The car is right in range for weight, and by time I make the battery purchases the technology and affordability will be there. I have the shell and that’s a huge battle. I found a company that attaches the motor to the stock tranny, and you get everything you need. The have a kit for an mr2. It’s ambitious but I think it’s going to be a huge and fun project. And it will give me the power I think this car deserves. I’ll follow up after some further thought and research.

I just repaired my M/T ECU in my 96 by replacing the capacitor and repairing the damaged traces. Car would not start before. What are your symptoms? If you're interested, we can try to work something out as far as me trying to repair your ECU. PM me.

It sometimes fires, and when it does runs ok then stalls out. I’ve tried new plus wires and cap, cleaning iac and throttle position sensor. Last thing on the code read says bad pcm. So I took it out and sure enough it is blown out onto the motherboard

Hey guys I have discovered that my ecu has blown a capacitor and it looks like it has fried the ecu. I am looking for one part number is 89661-2d700 for a 5sfe automatic. If any one has one laying around I would love to purchase it. I can find one online anywhere that’s not costing as much as the car is worth. Any help would be appreciated. Or if anyone thinks it could be repaired I’m at a loss looking for someone to give it a shot but if you know a place or someone I can contact I’ll be most grateful.
