6G Celicas Forums _ Engine/Transmission/Maintenance _ 7afe swap into a GT

Posted by: SaulGoodman Feb 14, 2020 - 9:33 PM

Before we start yes I know it's a headache, yes I know it's dumb. Exactly what would I need to do to put a 7afe with C52 5speed into a GT, 5sfe based Celica? Im getting a really cheap GT Celica as my ST was wrecked and money is tight. The GT is an auto with engine issues. To convert it to manual with a 7afe, what needs to be done?

Might be most lucrative to part out or sell them both, and get nice GT.

Well to start with, you have both cars right? Simply take out everything to do with the 7afe out of the ST and transplant it into the GT. This isn't the hardest swap to do in the least, quite the contrary the only hard part is gonna be mounting the clutch pedal and master cylinder as you will have to drill and cut the firewall to mount them. Everything else is just take the engine and trans out, follow that up with the ECU and engine side harness. You'll need all the motor mounts and the axles from the ST as the GT ones will only mate up with the S54 trans. Slap a battery in there and off you go.
