I've always wanted to make a progression thread, just can never find the time to, and the more i modify my Celica, the more I wish I had one. So I decided before it gets too late or I lose all my pictures, I will post one now, right before I swap my motor. A little background info, my name is Matt, I'm 21 and my 1995 Celica GT was my first car. I've always been into cars and modified cars so as soon as I got it, there were lots of things I had planned for it. However, still being a kid had no money to fund any big projects, until I got a job...Here are some pictures of my cars evolution to the point where its as now. Enjoy I will try and keep this as updated as I can from now on.
Here's where I started...
Just a stock black celi...
Wanted to do things, but had no money, so I painted my stock GT wheels red.
First performance mod was a v2 TRD Quick Shift Kit, was VERY happy with it, bought some GT4 spoiler blocks, while in the paint process, tried spoilerless, not my thing.
Painted my blocks myself, put em on.
If you ever are wondering USDM tail light or JDM taillight? JDM ALL THE WAY!
My winter set of wheels are those stock GT ones.
Basically, I fell in love with OEM JDM from there on, and the real transformation started. I fell in love with GT4's, learned A LOT about them, and ended up purchasing a project car (ST-165) so funds halted on the 6gc
Winter time came and my birthday is 4 days after xmas so I got a decent chunk of cash and help getting this.
As you can see, it needed A LOT of work, but I was 100% committed to doing all the work on it myself and getting it on my car. Bought so many parts for it, got really used to seeing this.
While the work was getting done on the 4 front end, got some new wheels.
HID's too.
Front end on! And some OEM '98 skirts!
Spacers!
Like I mentioned earlier, my car is waiting on the arrival of a 3rd gen 3S-GTE motor set from _Jim_. I am extremely excited to start the swap. These are not mounted yet, but here will be what my gauge setup will look like. I also purchased an Apexi AFC NEO to be put where the cigarette lighter currently is.
Thanks for looking.
Lovin' it. One question though. How come the ST205 bumper doesn't sit flush with the ST205 hood? Did you mold it that way?
I dont have my hood latch extended right now, and I am using the rubber from the stock bumper, so...basically i could put washers under the bolts and not have the gap, but then I would not be able to open my hood. Its on my to do list but it works this way until I can weld an extra inch on the hood latch and I don't mind the look.
Holy schnitzel, nice project. Good job.
liking the gauges
Hey matt i like your interior guages alot. Its coming along great, and the st165 is beatuiful! And i love the start of how many progress threads im seeing now in General Chat.
car looks freaking awesome keep up the good work
Thanks guys. Trying to get some stuff done for the local Toyota owner's festival, so hopefully I will have some updated pictures pretty soon.
Finally got around to painting my calipers red today.
I love the look of your car from the rear. The Black, TRD badge, and tails look great.
Btw, I loved your USDM vs JDM tail picture. TOTALLY helps me explain to people what I'm trying to do! lol
Here's the painted calipers. Quick morning cell phone shots but you get the idea.
Also bought another piece for my turbo setup last night. The list keeps growing.
The red on the calipers looks lovely with the red on the wheels.
loving the progress, and another beautiful black cellie
what springs are you lowered on?
Good stuff
Got a couple more weekends until the big local Totoya owners meet, so here are my plans for this week.
-20% Tint
-Couple low key decals (on the skirts)
-Clean, Clean, Clean
Probably more, just don't want to overwelm myself with college starting back up tomorow. I'll keep you guys updated.
Car got hit while parked today, minor damage but its to the GT4 bumper and only ONE WEEK before the Puget Sound Toyota Owner's Festival I sure hope i get it fixed quickly, I've been working so hard to get my car ready.
I'd be SO mad >:(
Put my car back together and got a new camera, so been playin around. Lemme know what ya think.
why does your hood and bumper not line up?
I asked him earlier in the thread. His hood latch isn't extended.
You have quite the eye catching dent on your hood above your driver side high beam
Everything looks good bro. I'm loving the wheels, and the way they match up with everything. It's a work in progress, and will only continue to get better
^^ hehe thankyou hector and sleek, finally some heartwarming compliments.
Puget Sound Toyota Owners Festival was yesterday. Had A LOT of fun seeing all the yota's. Also, I may have found someone to trade their clean Hachi Roku coupe for my alltrac so we'll see.
I would definitely switch out the rims to Watanabes. And dude, an AE86 is my dream car. My dad has had his '85 AE86 since '87 so I've known it all my life. It's so much fun to drive!! Hopefully his gets passed down >:D if not... he's got a spare 4AGE block and head I could I always get creative with.. lol
Yeah, those rims aren't my personal pref. But unlike the celica, the ae86 has some aftermarket support / there are A TON in my area and therefore lots of people open to trading and selling items on craigslist. The AE86 is definetly a great car for what it is and for its time. When I was like 14 my stepdad bought one at auction for $100. We fixed it up and he drove it for a couple years before selling it for like 20 times what he paid...haha. Really fun cars, is your dad's a coupe or hatch? modded? pics?
My dad's is a coupe. I prefer hatchbacks though. Uhh, I don't have any of his car, but I have one of how it looks EXACTLY. Except my dad's rims are the stock ones.
Went to the 2011 Scion TC release / custom car show the other day.
Here's my car with some Lambos.
And one with my buddies GSR civic on the way out.
Couple more from the show. I was parked with all the IS300s.
Looking good, your car is still the background on my computer. You planning on Projectors? They would make that top photo look sickk.
nice birthday present !
Your car reminds me ALOT of Johnneh's before he sold it. I like what you are doing with it, and what you have planned!
Picked up a new steering wheel yesterday (Momo Thunder), will post some pics up later. OT, but I also got a new APR Cold Air Intake for the Audi.
Also, some other secret goodies came in for my swap.
Just updated my interior a bit, still just a couple things to do. I want to put my Apexi AFC NEO where the cigarette lighter is and rewire that to the center console.
Looking good!
Rewiring the cig lighter to the center console is very easy. I did it this past weekend and it works great.
Is that a TRD shift knob and vincent's boot?
So does the knob fit pretty flush with the ring in the boot?
looks nice dude, but please, please, please fix that bonnet latch soon, its disturbing me how if you leave the bumper part pressed in like that it may end up warping into that shape and will never line up !!!
other than that its stunning
Sneak peak of an upcoming project. Won't be going on until spring due to the fact it is starting to snow soon up here and the calipers simply won't fit my winter wheels . But I just got them and painted them up, LS400 4 piston calipers and GT4 rotors, hopefully they will go on around the same time as my swap, that would be ideal.
WOOOOAAAAHHHHH
I so jealous ._.
times 2 ^ ^.. thats awsome. love them gt 4 calipers
Hit 200,000 miles on the way to the annual Northwest Toy Run meet last weekend. I have a few pictures as well but they are still on the camera, will upload later. Also purchased some more items for my swap .
only 100,ooo more and you can join me in the 300,000 club hahah
^^ hehe, only on the chassis. Engine won't happen, I got a 19k mile 3s on the way that is going in as soon as it's ready.
Ordered some more front end greatness today! Hope they come soon.
i wanna see the brakes installed!!!
what do u have to do to make it work? does it line up with the celica brakes? do you have to drill out threads or make spacers or what?
or is the problem that the calipers wont clear ur wheel spokes
Dude, Beautiful. that's all I'm going to say about this car. Keep it up
I vote for a guide (pics) of removing the calipers what paint type you used and reinstalling for the not so mechanical hahaha
I don't have pictures of the whole removal process and it's too cold to go outside and do it all right now, but the paint kit that I used for all of the calipers that I've painted is this one:
I like this stuff A LOT more than spray paint personally. You start off by spraying it with the included caliper cleaner, get an old toothbrush or something and really clean it off. Tape off any part you dont want paint on (pistons, bleeder things [for lack of technical term], etc.). Shake/stir paint, and begin aplying to the calipers with the brush. I personally go out and buy another brush when I use this kit as the included brush is awful and the bristles fall out extremely easily and end up trying to dry into your wet paint. Anyways, just put down a layer and it will look REALLY BAD with only one layer, don't stress, just let it dry and add another layer, and repeat until it's your desired thickness and color.
Again, I like this paint because it has ceramic in it and is very resistant to heat, brake dust, fading, chipping, etc. They are really easy to clean with this paint on as well, it coats them very nice. Many people who use spray paint end up having to repaint their calipers every couple years because of the fading, chipping, etc. So far I've never had to repaint my calipers and they still look great up close, imo.
Hope this helps you out man.
good stuff thanks. have to look up removal of them now ta
Hopefully buying a new project today!
Now to sell the Alltrac
Lexus IS300? They are afordable now. I love mine!
ive seen some baddassery on this site... and you my friend are one of them.
GOOD JOB! oh those rims! i WANT!!!!
That ST165 you have there is a classic and would make a good home to your 3rd gen swap, however the st205 is the superior car.
any new pics?
Decided instead of buying another car right now I am going to buy an E153 LSD and all of the FWD conversion parts for my 3s swap.
Also decided most likely this summer will be dedicated to having every ding and damage cleaned up and get rid of my OEM skirts for some TRD's or 404's and mount my splitters and then paint the whole thing BMW Black pearl. Gotta get the exact paint code / name from my grandpa (His 7 series was this color) but it's a pretty sweet color.
Now for a little question. I'm leaning toward an ACT clutch from what I've read, but want to listen to everyones opinions. What clutches you guys prefer for 3s / E153 combo?
Wanted to start another project with the cash I get from selling my Trac but its almost looking like I could finish this project if I want instead... might just end up doing that.
Got my Twos R' Us endlinks yesterday so I can finally put my ST sway bars on now. Also bought a sandwich plate for my oil pressure gauge.
If anyone could shed some light on the clutch issue above ^^ I'd appreciate it.
Thanks, Matt
From what i have heard ACT is the way to go, but have fun with the sway bars, they suck..... but then you drive it and its worth it
i struggled with the ST bars....make sure you take off the strut on one side at least..the rear is easier to put on then the front because of space....for the front...do the same...take off BOTH strut or coilover if you have that and then once you place the ST in...the best way to make sure they fit right is to do the one of the two bolts that are not visible on each bushing and tighten it down; then do put the visible bolt on (loosen the non-visible bolt slightly to push and adjust the bracket to the holes)...don't worry about the endlinks, they are the last step after you put the strut or coils back on..
I never had to take my struts off on front or rear
yeah...you don't have too, but it makes the install for the ST much easier...besides struts are easy to be put back. gives a little more room to slide
Just gave her a wash in preparation for my projectors which later came. These are the wheels I run in the winter with Michelin Ice 2's. My spoiler is off because I am putting some new bolts in the blocks, I personally don't like the look, maybe if my splitters were on... oh well it won't be off for long. Last shots without projectors, yay!
Here's the JDM hotness, already installed them Will snap some pics tomorrow probably.
DAMNNN I LOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVE THE SPOILERLESS LOOK ON YOUR CAR!!! SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CLEAAAAAAAAAAAN! going to look so much better with the projectors
Looks pretty clean like that man.
Spoilerless with your red/black rims would look fawkin sick. IMO
VERY nice car man If i had a hatch id build it just like this!
Stock wheels are best
Here's some crappy pics of my projectors, I just wanted to snap SOMETHING... can't wait for better weather.
With the HID's
I'll get some better ones soon.
Do me a favor, since you have HIDs in the projectors. Can you post a pictures of the cut off against a wall??
Yeah, I will try to get out and do that tonight.
Spoiler's back on with all new bolts.
I took a cutoff pic, bccentaur, but it sucked because of where I was, lol, I will get a better one tonight.
black celicas look so sexy...btw, why is there a gap on your gtfour front?
waiting on pictures
Oh I see. Didnt quite finish reading at work lol.
looks like someone didn't mod the projectors yet. The cut-off sucks, but isn't there away to get rid of the halos above the cutoff?
Projectors look beautiful. This car reminds me alot about http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=68738
where did you get your spacers from and how have they been holding up?
No excuses I'm outside working on the celi in 2 degree weather. hahaha
Just sent the the order for my transmission and FWD conversion parts, so the decisions are all made and my setup is set in stone now! I'm super excited!
3rd gen 3sgte, E153 w/ LSD! I can't wait!
good choice
WOOOO! Looks like I might have finally obtained a GT4 hood latch. Hopefully can finally say goodbye to that damn gap after a year!
Welded an inch onto my hood latch last night, NO MORE GAP!
Also purchased some goods from Wolfie
i demand pics of gaplessness and clears!
SUCCESS!!!
Those factory wheels are suspiciously more flush than any factory Celica wheel should be... I don't check this thread often, but do you have spacers?
I like. I always keep looking for a set of aftermarket wheels I like, and I never find anything. I'll probably be on the factory 5 spokes forever, so I'll have to invest in some of those.
what was the specs on your konigs?
17x7
offset?
40mm
my wheels are 17x7 with 42mm offset..i should probably get 25mm front and rear like you haha
you didnt have to roll ur fenders right?
Front fenders are factory rolled. Yeah, you will have to roll rears, there is some rubbing although it may be different with your coil overs because of the stiffness? I don't know, you will more than likely still need to roll the rears, but its totally worth it. Your stance would look SICK! I wish I had coils...
Got this from Craig (Urbandork) :
ST205 gauge cluster with MPH
A couple rare shots...yes of course the dirtiness is for the rally theme.
Other wheels back on!
Nice cluster!!
if you get hung up on the cluster let me know, i swapped in one last fall and still have my notes on all of it. Especially where the how to differed from the actual wires (atleast with my cluster from Japan)
The one thing that is better than everything else on my car combined gets here tomorow! I'm SO excited
I like the stock rims more... Is that a st165 or 162?
165
I get to meet my motor in person today for the first time ever! I'm so excited!
You need to put a front lip on that bumper. Bad. I had a Eurou lip in black for a gt-four ..... But I solds it
WOO IT'S HERE!!!
Only 19k miles!
And here's the E153 w/ LSD
Only 19k?!? NICE!!
High five!
Did some small stuff over the last week. Installed some Volvo washer jets which are amazing. The old ones are like weak squirt guns squirting your wind sheild and honestly it didn't even clean good or cover enough area for de icing purposes..these ones are like arcing mist and cover like the whole windsheild . Then I put on some clear sides and front indicators. Here's some pics from a local toyota get together I was at yesterday:
How did you get Volvo jet nozzles on there?
Interesting... how much did they run if you don't mind me asking?
£30 GBP, like around $40-$50.
Damn, that ain't bad. After reading your description, I might get me a set.
wow...that's expensive...here at the dealership..it cost 12 bucks...but downside is they have to order it from the warehouse.
I plan to put one on the rear as a replacement but i don't know how high it will shoot if it'll be right on the windshield...do you think that nozzle will shoot off too low or too high for the rear (if you go a hatchback or lift-back)....can you test the volvo nozzle for the rear?
Yeah, it was a lot because I couldn't originally find the part # because I don;t know the technical term and I was getting frustrated so I just typed in something like "volvo wind shield jet" and these came up, the only pair of OEM ones with no neon or anything. Basically it was a third party seller of the OEM part and it was in Europe so originally I saw the price and thought it was US then when I realized it was pounds I just wanted them so bad I got them anyways, haha.
Yeah I will definitely try it on the rear as I want a new rear one too. It should work, the front ones aim pretty low but wide and cover the width of the wind shield which is really nice, if it works good maybe we can go halves on a rear one from a Volvo dealer now that I got the part #?
im fine with that...i just called them up...i figure since you got them for the fronts...it should be easy for you to just test fit them to see how they play out on the rear...my just drizzle water down, it doesn't even spray anymore; what's worst is, it stopped working, probably clogged up, but i figure the hole is the same as the front for the hood and from the looks of the nozzle...they all seem to be the same (might as well replace the worn rear nozzle too). I was just worried about the height the nozzle would spray for the volvo nozzle. let me know
Yeah same with my rear one. I'll check it as soon as it stops snowing.
Sorry Chacha, still haven't gotten around to fitting the washer jet to my rear washer yet.
I received my TRD rain deflector for GT4 hood a few days ago. I went with black anodized and today added my own personal touch. Also did some work on my motor and took a lot of parts for cleaning etc. Was a pretty good day.
Here's a pic of what I did to my rain deflector, didn't get pics of it installed but will tomorrow. I think it looks awesome on the car.
rain deflector looks great,
i like the gauge cluster conversion, nice touch in a US Celica I could imagine,
hey what did you do with the spoiler? it looks like you shaved off gt-four is that what you did? or is it just too hard to see in pics?
Here's the finished product.
And a little WRC hood spoiler action.
Looks great!
No big updates on the car really, but I have been doing things to prepare my motor. The intercooler is off and I peeled the "Toyota 2000 Twin Entry Turbo" sticker off and sanded that bad boy down as I am going to have it airbrushed by my girlfriend's mom's boyfriend. My valve cover and intake manifold have also been taken off and cleaned up for painting as well as all of the covers around the turbo manifold and downpipe. The stock downpipe has also been taken off as I am putting on my Berk DP. Yesterday, I also ordered some tune up parts which should hopefully be coming sometime within the next week. I guess once I have more stuff together and more pics, I will probably make a forced induction build thread...
Looks awesome, great progress.
^^ Thank you.
Haven't really posted here in a bit because every update lately has been focused on my 3s swap. But I finally got around to installing my GT4 fogs.
Also purchased some 404 sides which I will be putting on with my splitters pretty soon here. Plan is coilovers after the swap, so hopefully before summer.
Got an s2000 antenna as well, but don't have any pics yet, I will have to do that this weekend sometime.
Make sure those 404 sides line up right before you paint or your going to be pissed when you have to custom fit them
Yeah for sure, I know the drill.
Haven't posted here for awhile because I've been busy with everything in the world besides my Celica. The longer it take for my swap to get here, the less I feel motivated to continue working on the Celica..However, that being said, I did recently pick up a set of coilovers that will be installed sometime before summer. I love my Celica so much and can see it's potential but can't thoroughly enjoy it with no 3s..
My goals for this summer were to get coilovers, get my motor in, get every smidgen of body damage fixed, and hopefully some paint. That in coordination with selling my Alltrac and finding an s13 coupe to purchase and daily while my Celica gets its makeover. S13 will hopefully be a 1jz drift car next summer but that's another story for another time.
Everything seems on track right now so long as Jim can get me the remainder of the parts I ordered from him soon.
Hey mN dont beat yourself uo over it and make sure u take your time with thr mods u put on. I bought my celica and it took me 3 months to get my celica running onto to the road after suspension set ups wheels engine maintrnance and it just felt like the never ending story. I know ur situation must be harder since ur doing a swap. If u rush things while your frustrated you could make mistakes and it will cost u more money in the long run. Ive been there done that and put more money into the celica than i should of.
Everything is looking good so far
Edit: Totally posted previous post in the wrong thread.
Tried putting my coilovers on with no air tools the other day and got one of the fronts in, but the passenger side lower strut bolts are literally like welded in...so I need air tools. But hopefully soon my car will be slammed. Also plan on getting some wider spacers in the rear, as lame as that is. Rediculous offset FWD wheels suck! But it will look sick!
Did you try a 3 foot break bar? That's what I used on my insanely stuck strut bolts and they came off like butter.
How's the car coming along? Did you have a chance to fit the 404's on there? Mine fit like crap, looks like i will have to do a lot more fiddling to get mine to work well.
Looking forward to seeing some pics soon
It's been going pretty good, just trying to clean up a lot of the stuff I have at the moment. Still haven't fitted my 404's or painted my splitters, they aren't too high on the priority list currently, kind of waiting till the car has more down time, probably during my swap or something.
Been doing lots of work on the Audi and getting my Alltrac ready to sell, my 6gc just sits there and soaks up money like a sponge.. I'm trying to get it all ready for the big Toyota meet next month. Kind of sad my motor won't be in for it, but there is always next year for that!
How is your car coming along?
man how anxious you must be to get that engine in already When are you moving to florida?
It seems alot of people have had issues with Jim. Has anything been done? He used to be on here very frequently and it appears he just fell off, and apparently with alot of members money.
"I'll get the parts when he gets them."
Czwalga had some issues with him too during his rally build. I feel like there are members on here that personally know him and should be able to help you out. Start a thread, if you paid and he has not delivered your parts you are intitled to a refund.
Haven't posted here because all of my progress has been going towards my st165 lately.
However, I took my 6gc to a car control clinic yesterday, and afterwards I had a chance to shred on the track (pacific raceways). Oh man it was soo much fun. Lotta understeer though, Lol!
update?
I've doing lots of little stuff here and there, just haven't updated. I work 6 days a week and go to college so no time for any major updates, unfortunately. Plus, snowboarding season is coming soon! So just got a new board, jacket, goggles, etc. so very few funds left for the Celicas for now.
I was spending a lot of time on my alltrac but unfortunately the notorious hose from hell burst and I have yet had the time to fix it, so no alltrac for now.
Some of the stuff recently:
Went 5mm wider in the rear,
cooling panel,
Carbon fiber hood struts.
Wowzers, long time no post. Lol, it's funny because my last update was at the beginning of snowboarding season, and now this post comes as snowboarding season comes to a close.. Wonder why? Between that and going to class to obtain my Aerospace Assembly Mechanic Certification I've had little time for the celi. But the sun finally came out so I brought my spring/summer/fall wheels out of storage and threw my coilovers on. I already posted pics in the "official" pic thread but figured I may as well update the progress (if that's what you want to call it ) in this thread.
They're D2 coilovers and I am still using my +25mm spacers in front and +30mm spacers in the rear. Fenders are obviously rolled. I haven't really messed with them much since I installed, because it's been kind of crappy out. So I just wanted to put them on and slam it for now, haha.
Anyways..
(That's a tail of the new Boeing 787 in the background. Made completely of Carbon Fiber and a little bit of Titanuim! Made up here at the Everett, WA factory.)
I guess it's a little bit lower than stock height cars...
Oh, and this happened kind of recently
slammedd, looking good my dude.
Hes not bowing down hes trying to look under your car
But that looks sweet hope you got smooth roads
Thanks guys!
Haha, no the roads aren't anything exceptional. I can get to work and back with only a coiple minor exhaust scrapes, but some of my recreational activity routes need to be altered for sure, lol!
I was going to say... You're brave to have it so low on our roads.... unforgiving, they are.
It isn't bumpers bottoming out that I worry about though - my tires bottom out into the fender long before my bumper drags.
Super unforgiving. It's pretty scary driving on some roads, I need to fix a couple things if I'm going to end up keeping it anywhere near this height, lol.
Mr. Two is too herrafrush for that level of ride height. I cringe enough on my drive to and from work - I don't want any more scariness.
Yeah man, I can't wait to get some better wheels. Some 17x8.5-9's. Mmmm. Soon enough..
Lucky for us we don't drive mazdas and our oil pans actually sit an inch or two above the crossmember. So if you hit the oil pan, you really messed up, haha.
Did a bit of dampening. Oh boy, this thing feels like a freaking Amtrak! If only the roads were smooth so I could enjoy ALL of it..
Can't wait to add more power!
And eventually more grip, if you know what I'm saying.
Just some more cell shots. I REALLY want to find a place and go shoot some real shots, but I get too excited in the meantime!
Lol, I have to roll the car to clean off the whole tire...
I can't quite tell, does this look negative to you guys?
So I sold my Alltrac the other day . Fortunately it was to a really good friend of mine that I know for a fact will take care of it and only make it better. He already has great plans for it and is an experienced Toyota tech and has had a few MR2s and is very familiar with 3sgte's. He's just looking for a boss daily so he can park his drift steed for awhile.
I would be more sad, but ultimately I intend on making my 6th gen the same thing just 7+ years newer, so its not that bad..
Thinking about getting something boss..
How to: Light Detail of Undercarriage:
Step 1: Slam car!
Step 2: Find clean fresh patch of grass.
Step 3: Drive in it and reverse out (repeat as needed).
Process should look something like this :
UGH! I want new wheels SO bad!
I'm going to find some cool spots to take pictures at real soon.
I got some Bridgestone Poenzas mounted today. My buddy works at a shop so we used a lift. The only way to get my car on a lift is to jack the front and rear up and swing the arms in. This picture is my car on the lift at its minimum height! LOL!
And here are a couple cell phone pics I took from the Scion FRS release event I attended. I got put next to a Skyline.
Nice R32. How do the tires feel?
I like mine till its raining. Then they suck
i feel like im driving on a slip n slide
But they get amazing grip on drive pavement
I'm not quite sure what kind of rain you are dealing with, but today in Washington (I'm pretty sure we are the rain kings) the roads were looking like a slip and slide and my tires were gripping great! (lol 5s)
For wet and dry, Bridgestone Potenzas I approve.
Maybe its just me but mine slipped like crazy in the rain
An that was with the coupe so 5s power too lol
Haha, Im not saying I couldn't if I wanted, but comparitively speaking to at least my old tires they were great. I don't know, despite my slam, my car car has a pretty good suspension setup. But I was really testing it out today on some tricky roads in the rain, and despite its 221,000 miles, I push this 5s to the max. Afterall, my 3s is just chillin in my storage unit waiting to get the call up to the big leagues.
I went from a toyo something( startex with a p) to the them an they seemed to get alot less grip in the rain
I beat on my 5s on a daliy basis lol 187,000 an just keeps goin
Plus im riding on s techs with bad struts. So its hard telling
I loved them on the 1mz hatch for the 23 mile i drove it
Looking at pics of you car make me miss being super slammed as you put it
I really need coilovers
Do it man!
I need to raise mine to look better honestly.. It just isn't worth it until I get better wider wheels, without them it won't have the same effect.. So for now I'm just staying slammed.
Still handles great!
Once the 1mz is running right coilovers in on the list
Was browsing around and found some old pictures of my car. Man, I remember how happy this car used to make me! Proud to say that hasn't changed one bit!
Since I am no pro photographer, my photos are always the same angles and lame backgrounds (I'm working on it!) so I decided it would kind of be fun to compare my car 5 years ago and today..
Lols..good times...
Sexy
Its amazing looking at your first shots compared to how it is today hey. And to know you done it all yourself!!
I love that pic of the rear of your car between the other randoms, sits SO low... i love it.
Really is a great feeling.
Needs tint!
Quite the change, had a great base to start from as well. Looking great!
Something mild - like 30% or 35%. No darker.
Finally got around to painting and putting my splitters on. Sometimes I don't think the OEM skirts are aggressive enough for the splitters on some applications, but honestly I feel like they match great on my car for some reason, maybe they just look good in person or something, ha. That being said I have some 404 sides that I will be putting on when I'm not busy..
Car looks great and the splitters definitely set the GT4 bumper off right. Very aggressive.
Your car looks stunning but you really need to raise the rear, imo.
Oh, great! Will be one of the best looking on the board/planet.
^^ Wow, thanks man, means a lot!
Sooooooooo........
I went out to raise my rear and ended up just testing out an idea that I've had for awhile with some big spacers I had laying around that I thought wouldn't work so well.. but did, so basically now the 30mm from the rear went up front and went fatter in the rear.. so, yay wider all around. Not what I wanted (fat spacers), still want wider wheels, but I'm satisfied for now. Still going to raise up the rear a half inch to inch or so. I'm just rollin around with it literally about as flush as you can get in the rear for now though, haha.
Also, next up on my list is a new exhaust, got a SICK idea and going to get rid of the retarded sh!t I have right now, finally! Thank God!
^^My Alltrac that isn't mine anymore in the background!
I hate you
Everytime i look at it she looks a little better
Its probably my favorite gt4/gt-4 looka like on the site
Nice celica man i need to get jdm tail lights too
^^ Thanks man, yours is for sure one of my favs of this gen. JDM tail lights are always a great choice! I can get a really good deal on a set locally if you want to shoot me a PM for details?
Gotta admit bro with all the Honda's down here in Corpus Christi TX rockin that look or can I say burning that look out. I think u have honestly brought back my admiration for it. Great Job.
TOYOTA NATION!!!!!!!
I love everything about your car cept those rears! Can't wait to see it raised up =)
sell me those 25s
Its weird being back stateside sometimes cuz basicly the "HellaFlush" trend is basicly the VIP Car trend. But Americans call it HellaFlush, My opinion its all pretty cool if done right like our boy mak has done.
This on the other hand is an absolute discrase to tuners everywhere n not cuz its a Honda, but because it looks unfinished, and down right lazy.
Mak good on u for atleast taking the time to visualize ur build first and for the love a god for adding the splitters to help finish off the look. Granted Im a bodykit crack head and all of 6gc knows it, lol. But I can reaspect a good lip kit as well. So thank u sir, lol
I think this guy went lower than you lol now this celica is hellaflushh lol
haha^^ thats a pic taken 3 seconds before its about to take off into outer space!!
That sh!t looks suuuper embarrisingly disgusting, haha. I hate my camber, but without adjustable RUCA's I can't really do much, no aftermarket ones available for Celica.. Plus my wheels wouldn't fit without camber.. I am working on getting some custom adjustable RUCA's made though.
Oh yeah, and I did raise my car 7/10 of an inch in the rear today! Looks waaaay better now.
And Andrew, I gave my spare set of 25's to my buddy that I sold my alltrac to because I was tired of having a sunken battleship in my driveway everytime he came over, haha. Sorry man.
Here's with the rear raised up.
Oh yeah, I have a donk too.. Have coils for it, but no money for things like alignment and tires so it stays monster truck status for now..
How is it raised? Why dont u lift the front and rear a inch. Take a look at timmyfaces recent pics he posted on his thread. If u can get it likethatyou'll be looking way better. I say that because now it just looks like u have blown suspension
Just bought my new exhaust! I'm pretty stoked, hope it gets here fast!
Really wanted to wait for my 3s for this but I just can't stand the pos that's on my car right now and need to get rid of it asap.
For the last 2 years I have had an HKS Carbon TI muffler which I was planning on running. It is such an awesome exhaust, especially if you like carbon fiber touches.. But, it is huuuuge, so huge it ultimately came down to the decision that it wouldn't last long under my car due to its vast size.. And I kind of fell out of the style of it, I want something a little less big.. So I sold it to a friend.
Anyways, brings me to the new setup. For the longest time I have been running my stock 5s exhaust manifold with a cat and 2.5" piping all the way back with no resonator. I really like the sound of it and I know my new setup is going to be LOUD but hopefully not too bad with the aforementioned stock manifold and cat.. If it is I'll probably add a resonator.
So, I'm going to expand to 3" at the tip, but fully convert to 3" with the 3s.
Lol, so my suspension is completely settled at this point, and now needs to be slightly raised once again. Good thing I get free alignments . Guess you could say it rubs a bit, lol what kind of tires are those? This is what happened when I tried to drive with 3 people in the car..
So this is kind of irrelevant but I figured I'd share it anyways. Was actually a couple weekends ago, but I got the opportunity to attend an event with my Dad where we were able to drive a few top end Jaguars. I got to drive an XK-R and XF on a track they had setup (I had the fastest lap time for my time group when I left ). I also got to drive an XJ-L, which is their luxury model on some local roads, which was amazing. They have SO MANY OPTIONS! Last but not least I got to drive an XK-RS, which there are only 300 of in the world, 100 in North America. All of the cars were using 5.0L V8 Supercharged motors ranging from about 450 HP to 550 HP with amazing handling and brakes to go with. What amazing cars.
Anyways, here's the XK-RS
And the XJ-L
I also received my exhaust this past week. Pretty stoked to put it on. And, yeah. I DO know that it is going to be loud. I love the way it looks how I have it planned in my head. I REALLY fell out of love with the way any kind of "can" exhaust looks, so I thought I would do something unique. Will sound so epic with my 3S .
And just for fun.
^ are you stuck? looks like the front is holding the front up haha. im thinking your either doing dual tips or replacing your muffler with that pipe.
yep. loud it shall be
my idea nearly exactly with that exhaust for the beams.... 3sge/gte duals ftw
Yeah, it shall be sick!
Im speaking with a local fabricator and we are going to try out some different ways to fit it. Honestly at this point, I am considering making a small exhaust cutout in my bumper and tilting it up slightly and possibly outward a couple inches as well. Going to see how I can get it to look without the cutout too. But as much as I don't want to cut my bumper, in my mind it will probably look the best. Kind of how aero kits on drift cars have exhaust cutouts, but not quite as drastic.
center it out of the bumper? or mold something to the bumper to make it lower to level out the exhaust. sorry throwing out ideas. thatd be alot of work.
Not going to center. Will come out the regular exhaust side on Celicas.
Making a lip would be sweet, but I like the splitters and would have to remove them. But yeah, that would be sweet. Pretty sure Diegohiga's custom lip has an exhaust cutout iirc, I would love something like that, but I would rather have a fiberglass or urethane removable lip as opposed to something permanent.
Theres this, but I'm not particularly fond of it.. And Chaser Aero fits like sh!t.

Hmm, like I said, still conjuring ideas in my head, haha.
My buddy and I just got done playing some disc golf and the sun was just setting, so I decided to snap a picture on the way back to the cars. His is a twin turbo T-top model Z32. Pretty soon we will both be rocking the isis dual tip that I just got, only he will have quad tips .
car looks great my dude keep it up!
Thanks man!
Got my exhaust welded on! I spent awhile deciding how I wanted it to be mounted, and am very happy with how it turned out. It looks way better in person, pics don't really do it much justice imo. So sorry for the pic overload, I tried capturing it at a couple decent angles.
Looks pretty OEMish from behind .
Yo that dual tip is SICK bro.
Just makes your car look that much better
Thanks guys.
I was getting soooo sick with the "can" style exhaust..
How does it sound
I like it a lot, a bit deeper and a bit louder. Going to sound even better when I go full 3 inch with my 3sgte.
Nice, I think Im the only one that's staying with 2.5"
Why you staying 2.5"? Convenience? It won't be bad, just 3" is better .
Sweet pipes, I like.
^^ Thanks man!
Next mod just came in:
Wow, that looks way better than I imagined. Sick!
Pipes look great man, dual tips are a touchy thing but you pulled it off, good job (thumbs up)
Amazing!
Just added you to my 6gc heroes/sig list!
Drive bys are the best. Only if tripple digits are involved! Kidding. Dont speed. Its illegal.
So this is nothing exciting, but like I said all I could capture was idle sound. Decided to post because I think it sounds cool, haha.

This was at Formula D Seattle last weekend, I'm only 10 minutes away from the track, so I go every year for both days.
1 more..
what do you have for an exhaust on there?
2 pages back there are some pics of the actual tips, 1 page back for mounted pics.
Ahh I must have missed those.
But remember, you can't raise the car back up now because the suspension arm thing will be hitting the exhaust
Looks great!
Why would I want to raise it?!
It goes under axle, so it will be fine.
Welcome. I just hope your roads are a lot better than the ones I have.
Not really, lol. Washington roads suck and there is ALWAYS construction.
But Im very good at this point at "slammed driving". Its basically like a never ending first person game of guitar hero switching various difficulty levels the different places and speeds I go, haha. Always have to be looking ahead and super attentive.
Some roads, I just don't even try. Sometimes I'll have to take a like 5 minute detour or park in a lot next to one I can't get in and walk, but it's really not bad. I always leave for places a bit early anyways.
When you're riding through the city, you gotta be low and slow.
I just find it hard to believe in a world where we can send people to the moon, we still have crappy roads.
Time to move to Canada, for multiple reasons.
Still waiting to see your big brake upgrade - LS400 calipers with ST205 discs.
Whats up?! Its been awhile! I've pretty much been taking a break from the "car game" lately because I have been so busy with work (swing shift, bleh ) but been doing some small things here and there. Also in the process of getting a place with a 1500 sq. ft. garage so my motor is on the hopefully soon to do list, lol also some new shoes.
So not much has changed in the last almost year. Still slammed as **** . A few months ago i got backed into in a parking lot twice AT THE SAME TIME by two high, idiot teens (who were friends, dafuq). Gt4 bumper ruined . Their insurance is covering it but they can't repair my bumper because of the damage on the corner and have yet to find a replacement. So if anyone has a hook on a gt4 bumper, let me know!
Here's a couple random pics i've taken kinda lately, sorry for dirtyness, the car got about negative 3 washes this winter .
Took spoiler off for a little.. Only like it from like one or two angles, but meh.
Here is the damage
Lol oil change pic, why not.
Really love the styling and the way you have done this, very attractive car, always thought the GT front end suits having the rear spoiler too, aggressive from front to back that way
Great job!
Yay for low celicas!
One day I'll be this low again
(Crys alil on the inside)
I have to re-do my exhaust before I can go that low. It scrapes on everything right now and sits 2" above the ground. Car sits around 5", so as soon as I tuck it up more, car can go lower.
Well guys, I have mixed emotions as i write this post, but here goes..
I just got a new car! It's a 2006 BMW Dinan S1 330i (E90) with sport/premium/cold weather packages, 6 speed manual transmission, one owner, 60,000 miles!
Needless to say I am super stoked, but am sad to say it is now the Celica's time to go. I had a lot of fun with it and learned a ton being my first car and all, and I will always miss the attention that it gets. But basically I am going to need to start looking for a home for her. I would love to sell it whole but honestly, I think it is more worth my while to part the car out as there are for sure some parts other people would enjoy and I don't think anyone would buy this car with 235000 mile motor/chassis and bad paint for anywhere near what I would like to get.
So that being said, I would like to know if anybody is interested in some parts off my car. Any parts. Motor included, both the used 5s and 19,000 mile 3s. I also have 4 trannys, s53,s54,e154f,e153 w/lsd. Every part in my profile will eventually be available. I can make a more formal post later as well as add a list of what will be available.
Im not 100% sure when I am tearing into it but I just wanted to gauge some interest in the parts before I start making it official.
It would be easiest if you just post in this thread as my pm's are usually full, but i will try to empty them.
Thank you guys!
Sell out!!!! You at least got the two door right? Anyhow, should make a post in the off-topic section on it.
BOOOOO!!!!!!
now that thats out of my system I will take the engine plate on the left please
But, but too many doors! *shivers* Glad you like it though. Now you just need to supercharge it...
First time I see your thread and its because your selling it!
That is seriously low... I could never survive that
Interested in the TRD quickshifter - you said 'newer version' though, so is it not the 33530-ST000 ?
Pro charge it.
Damn
You'll still remain of my 6gc heroes list in my sig... just like timmy /sigh
Dibs
-DCW Triple Gauge Pods
-Interior hatch third light plastic
-D2's, possibly?
