6G Celicas Forums _ Engine/Transmission/Maintenance _ Is this the right part?

Posted by: CoolGuyArik Jun 28, 2020 - 8:37 PM

I have a manual 1995 ST. I bought the trans mount Rockauto said was the part for my car, but it wasn't. Looking into it, a 93-97 or something corolla mount IS the part I have, but with an extra threaded section. What is this part I'm holding?

This is what I had, and what I need

This is what they sent frown.gif I think it's to the 5sfe trans

Do I have a weird mount? The mount had 1-16120 on it, and looking it up got me forklift parts. Unless my eyes deceive me, my celica is NOT a forklift. Any help is appreciated, I'm very much ready to not have my engine shake the change out of my pocket when I move. Thanks!

You're going to need to look closer at what trans/engine is in the car, there should be a VIN tag on the engine block. It's at the bell housing end either at the front or rear riveted to the engine block. You may have a Corolla trans or both engine and trans in this Celica which is why the mount is different. The trans itself should have some kind of ID numbers stamped in the case as well, but I'm not sure where those would be located exactly.

On the bellhousing, it says Z40806374

I saw the plate, but it just says toyota all over it, like a voided warranty sticker

Finally the replies are being added! Anyways, the bellhousing said that, and the engine had that on it. From what I've researched, yes, it's a corolla trans. When I bought the car, it said it had a "corolla engine." I thought he said that because the 7afe is shared with the celica, but now I'm starting to realize he literally meant corolla engine. I found the right motor mount, but I wanted to know- If I got the corolla mount, would it be offset compared to the celica mount? Would it hurt to get that? Or try and source the actual bracket somehow. Thanks for your help!

Alright! I ordered the corolla mount, put it in, and even successfully replaced the rear mount! It feels like a completely different car! Anyways, I still notice some wiggle room for the trans, IIRC the proper mount's rubber insulation was wider, so eventually I'll get the right mount, but for now, I don't have to brace for impact every time I go to second gear, so I'm happy!
