9006 projectors SUCK, and not in a good way. Stupid D.O.T. pattern and low wattage... I'm halfway considering being an asshole and throwing in whatever 4300-4500K HID kit BECAUSE I CAN BARELY SEE.

I'm making the face Thor made at Bruce Banner in Thor Ragnarok, just you can't see it.

Got the Celica out, not a ton of fun because too many other cars can't drive a twisty road. Also the car literally made Erin sick so I guess enjoying my car is a 100% solo thing now. Honest,it's not that bad she just has a big bobble head and gets motion sickness easily. I really wish she could enjoy it like I do...😕

Oh I know... it's just frustrating having been able to see, and now I can't...

Aww, that's a shame. I get that though, as I get motion sickness as a passenger.

Buy a spare pair of headlights off ebay or somewhere and split them open to see what there's to work with inside or hitup lightwerkz to do it for you. If you can get the mounting plotted out accurately on a CAD type layout you can have adapters made to let you bolt in a projector easily or you can do it one off with a bunch of epoxy and patience. There's 'retro-quick' kits for Spyder and Spec-D brand lights that might work with aftermarket Miata headlights, so that could be an option as well. There's a universal 'retro-quick' kit which gives your flat plates with projector mounting in the center to let you figure out how to put them inside the housings yourself with your own trimming and leveling and mounting work. And since they're bi-xenon you don't have to worry about the high beams being poopy as much either. Lightwerkz also sells the kits and projectors, they're good people to deal with and do good work and give solid advice.

From what I've found they're a nightmare to work with:

See, I should've just bought a NA8 and then I could still have my 100W E-codes.

Looks like plenty of room in the high beam area and the bowl is held by screws.

I suppose maybe some kind of bi-xenon in the high beam, then wire it to come on with the low beams and move the cutoff shield with the high beam switch is an option.

So that was a fun Friday the 13th!
So a while back I put some stop leak in my Mazda because the ****ty paper water pump gasket is leaking slightly and I really don't desire to do another water pump behind the timing belt again. I really don't want to dick with that, it's got 180,000 miles on it and I don't think I'm doing another timing belt unless I'm still driving it at 200,000. I know stop leak is a no-no but it's a very small leak and this is exactly the kind of small leak stop leak is made to seal. It's not parts that expand a lot like a plastic radiator tank with a crack, it's not a high pressure area like a head gasket, if it weeps coolant it won't damage anything. The stop leak worked, the leak is stopped, it's been dry for a few weeks. The other day I opened my radiator cap to check the level since the bottle was in the middle range, I've seen often enough stop leak plug up the port between the bottle and radiator so I wanted to make sure the passage was clear, it was, the I pushed some gunk from around the cap back into the radiator and it was fine that night and that next morning. Last night going home I needed to stop at a local store, so I drove the 5 minutes over there after idling for 5 minutes in the parking lot. When I got to the store I noted that I had very little heat. My first thought was that damn stop leak plugged my heater core, so I revved the engine up for a few seconds to see if heat would come back, it did not, so I opened the hood to feel the heater hoses and saw my coolant bottle completely full of coolant, the side of the engine bay soaked with coolant, and the wheel well soaked with coolant. I had normal engine temp but zero pressure. The bottle being overflowing told me that it wasn't a busted radiator, the bottle would be normal or empty. The cap wasn't holding any pressure. I took the cap off, smelled the radiator for signs of head gasket, all normal smells in there. I blew through the overflow tube on the bottle to push the coolant back into the radiator to refill it and get coolant back into the engine somewhat. My radiator has an offset neck which makes filling and purging air a complete pain. Got some pre-mix green from the store, and proceeded to spend the next 2 hours slowly filling and purging air between cooling the engine off and heating it up. I first got it filled enough to get heat back by holding the engine around 3000 rpm till both heater hoses got hot. Then let it cool, go walk over and pickup the dinner order I placed. Come back, open cap, massage hoses to burp air, slowly fill some more coolant and repeat for about 20 minutes, then cap, run engine at 3000 rpm till thermostat opens, scald hands on incredibly hot radiator hoses, let cool for 30 minutes, go back to filling and purging, eventually able to drive home safely on surface streets at around 8pm.

What happened? Best I can figure some stop leak got caught in the cap seal and prevented it from working to seal the radiator as pressure rose, allowing unchecked coolant expansion to purge coolant from the engine, a lot of coolant. The cap that didn't seal worked fine once I put it back on after wiping some stuff out of it, same as I did the other day when it had been working fine for 2 weeks prior and same as it had been for the 1.5 days after. Anyway, I got a new cap to pickup and put on later today and refill the coolant if it didn't work out all the air driving home 20 minutes. I had heat the whole way home, scalding the other hand at 140F air temp blowing right at it. Seems like no harm done. But yea, thanks Friday the 13th!

It was still bad and I knew it would get worse when it was cold and **** me over at the worst possible time somehow.

Ha. Gotta get that hormone balance or else someone is going to be dealing with a lot of chafing.

I meant more so, "That leak wasn't that bad, to make the consequences of the stop leak remotely worth it."

This is the first time I've ever seen this happen and the cap is possibly original to the car or at least nearly as old as the car. Heck, that may not have even been what happened, which is why I'm replacing the cap anyway even if it's working now. Seems to have sucked coolant and displaced the air overnight, meant to get the cap today but never got out of the house to walk over and get it. I'll do it tomorrow.

I wouldn't know about that, as I'm not a man.

When you thought you had a witty comeback but then realize you've totally forgotten Bitter's gender, and then start blaming the issue on gender as a whole.

If it wasn't such a big deal what humans stand and what humans sit when peeing, I wouldn't have this issue.

Rats! Foiled again by my own intellect.
