You really don't need the bracing, especially if nothing is ever going to be sitting on top of it, like snow or people.

Plus cutting out such small sections and tacking the bracing back down it probably won't make any difference at all to the overall structure of the hood anyway.

Then he'll have a limp hood, and that's not good for anyone.

yeah he probably may. the bracing is there for a reason.
1. hood crumple zones in the case of an accident. Itd be better to have it crumple than blade through the windshield (unlikely tho)
2. its an aluminum hood any if he removes itll basically be aluminum foil

form a small dimple dome in the hood just for the oil cap.
uber custom. best option? but it may look a little odd

The bracing is there for a reason, steel hoods with removed bracing are flimsy enough much less aluminum. When I went from the standard Firebird hood to the shaker hood it was like, oh this is fairly solid to hey look I can flex it by hand... and it still has the bracing except for what was cut out for the shaker. Of course the shaker hoods are notorious for popping the seam filler used to hold the bracing to the hood skin, if I end up keeping it I'll re-adhere it before painting.

just an idea, although a lot of money. what about a carbon hood? i don't think there is bracing under those

there is.
They are just fiberglass copies of regular hoods with a layer of CF on top.
TRUE CF hoods usually dont have a skeleton...but thatd have to be custom layed.

Mine was sturdy enough without the bracing and it had two feet of snow on it at one point laugh.gif
