Nice car - strange being a later spec car that it has no skirts
have the holes been filled - im taking it they have been.
For me a shiny black faff will always look better than a white one - just look more aggresive and menacing

'96+ are late spec. Non-GT4 models got an updated front bumper and spoiler, and all models got side skirts. Some GT4's came with the updated spoiler as well, but I don't know what percentage that was. There were also updated head and tail lights available on ST202's and ST205's.

As above the facelift was 96.
The chrome " celica " sill covers were a option as were recaro seats - but these were also offered for the pre face lift.
then in 98 the GT4 was revised again - out went the 3 post rear spoiler and reverted to the WRC style rear wing with raiser blocks but with a different GT FOUR text on them and all got the projector headlights and silver coloured dash trim

just found this old project thread and thought i would update, a lot has happened since the last post!

Things took a slight turn for the worse. Overboosting, clutch problems, seized calipers, huge rust holes in the sills and rear quarter and a fuel leak meant she was clearly begging for a little attention. So i bought a bmw e36 328 to use as a daily drift weapon and put the celica in the garage so the fun could begin.

First on the purchase list was a donor quarter panel

then up in the air she went, ready for some serious grinding. New discs, pads and caliper pins visible in this shot although i ended up sending all four calipers to BIGREDD for reconditioning (they did an incredible job, highly recommended)

and I began gutting the interior. This is very much a before photo

Then the bodywork began -

I ground back the area to see how far the surface rust extended, and found some filler from a previous repair further forward but otherwise the arch profile was looking better than expected. Inner skin however was very worse for wear

and then, hours of grinding, drilling, flapwheeling and welding the following occured, heres a nice condensed version of the hours that followed -

tacced into place -

welded and ground back -

filler lashed on -

arch rolled to a nice even profile with loads of clearance for the wheels given, then hours of filling and flatting -

a quick shot of the interior before i fitted buckets, floorpan completely stripped of sound deadening and all sprayed satin black. Also removed all the loom for the bits n pieces ive whipped out, arial and motor, rear wiper mechanism, speakers etc

and the sparcos pre-fitting -

Also, removed the sunroof assembly which weighed in at 14kg, perspex replacement can be seen taped up but resting in place.

nice and simple inside now biggrin.gif

also patched the lower right sill due to more rot frown.gif

also whipped the bumper and slam panel off the front and started stripping out the charge cooler system and aircon to make room for FMIC biggrin.gif

clocked turbo and intercooler in place

then off to the paint shop she went, most of the left hand side was blown in and now puts the rest of the car to shame!

exedy paddle clutch and fidanza lightweight flywheel are both now fitted, along with a new cambelt kit.

The current filler neck had a hole in the back and its seized onto the tank so a new tank and filler neck are on their way which will sort the fuel leak issues smile.gif

SOOO GLAD you finally updated!
I've finally decided to respray the whole car in black and when I will come out of school and get my job, our cars will be very very similar ^^
Will need to fix the same areas on mine also due to minor, yet horrible to me, rust problems.

I will get BC coilovers also, but not quite sure yet of the stiffness to opt for.
Thinking to go 9kg front/8kg rear, I want to get a close rear/front stiffness ratio to make the car more prone to oversteer rather than understeer.
What specs are yours? What is your feedback? Too stiff for a daily driver? Would you change to another setting if you could go back?

What are your future plans?
Please keep us updated biggrin.gif

Edit: Pretty sure the offset is +23 tongue.gif may be wrong though
Also, do you run minor negative camber to make the 9.5 fit in the front?
