Seriously? 1: there are 2 pictures, the second one showing the radiator touching the engine and the strut tower being bent. And i was being rude because he started off saying i had no idea what i was talking about. This was between me and death and it has been resolved, your input is not needed.

Death keep up the good work. Although it's not my style of doing things, I appreciate it because it's different and innovative. Interesting to watch.

Though it's not the best looking attempt, it's not exactly the wrong way to do it.
You can pretty much do it what ever way you want and if it's for a personal one off production which in the end works and looks good then good on you.
But if it's going to be a product which is to be sold or reproduced then a lot of refining will have to be done such as making it fit perfectly and interchangeable with the original fixings of the car.
In other words you'll probably have to make a mould off it and make 1 piece pieces like I said before.
There's nothing wrong with using FRP and fillers, it's not going to fall apart at 60mph. Looking at most custom production cars, they're just a rolling cage with a FRP 1 piece external shell kinda like a remote control car.
I wouldn't say riveting brackets and panel welding is a good way but it is a way of doing it.
A Friend of mine who does welding would look for an arch off another car and transplant it.
Take a look at this. It was a golf with BMW flared arches transplanted. Just cut out and spot weld on.
http://www.ramscustoms.com/vw_golf_mk3.html#
With weld on, the down side is that it's still heavy but looks original. Also in time it does rust out from the underside quicker than normal even if it's sealed.

Then you have the option of newer techniques such as using expanding foam which we've seen before. Most concept show cars are done that way.

I've even made things out of card and masking tape then fibre glassed and refined before making moulds and then produced.

I'll say keep up the work and lets see the results first after all it's still in the making.

If your pulling the METAL on the fenders out 2" then why do you have the god awful flares on there? My "info" comes from the pictures you posted of a stock body celica with fender flares taped on... Or are these flares just a mold for fiberglass?Again in which case its not a real "widebody.

THIS is how a real widebody is built:

Notice the lack of masking tape and fiberglass.

does he cut out the original body metal underneath that damn skeleton?

Yeah i prefer mdf or expandable foam wich usually is pretty easy an cheap to work with. Ive done the card and masking as well an those are all good methods.

Lol thats funny. Weelll im not liking this and im thinking i may have to start from scratch. not sure yet i salvaged an cut wut was usable out and pieced stuff together using rivets. If i can get a rough even shape on both sides i may remold them an copy again but im not sure looks like i may start over ill know in a couple days. If it comes out decent ill post more pics but this is wut i got so far most of the fiberglass was cracked all the through on one side.

personaly I like wide body idea... so let's wait for results. Anyway. I'm sure at leat hlaf will say it is good and half it is ugly. Just check already existing + my PERSONAL opinion:

only one for sale as kit - ugly IMO (design of bumper is weird) http://www.redsmodifiedmotors.com/NewStuff.html

rest hand made job... great pieces. Mostly from Celica club Thailand. Those people are unbeliveable workes...:

In all fairness, it is pretty difficult to read through all of the broken English with random words missing in important places.

but with that said, Good luck. I'd really like to see this finished so that it doesn't just look like its just a cheap set of bolt on fender flares.

The grey widebody looks teh best IMO, very subtle.
But the red/orange looking one has nice rears, Would look sick with some wieder wheels/better offset.

more power to you D, if you got the motive and initiative, by all means. if you can make the car wide and a simple creation...that'll do.

ive never seen those celicas before and they are by far some of the sickest 6gcs ive ever seen!!! keep up the work man, its going to look good in the end! just think everything out on how far you wanna go with everything before u decide on paint..do u plan on putting 10" wide tires in the back? and making it a drag car? im pretty sure your going for looks and 'show'... so keep up the good work , dont get discouraged by nonsense..
