I think 7th gen have any respect for our 6th gen celica. Mainly becuase we have slow economical engines.

7th gen owners in the US don't really respect the older models as much b/c we only had the ST and GT models (mostly). So they tend to feel all highly b/c they got the GT-S rolleyes.gif .

If this is a nationwide event, I would hope they plan for quite some time and make sure to go over every detail they can to make this happen. Would be cool to see a huge annual Celica meet in the US (preferably toward the west side smile.gif )

I'm not going to get into a 6th gen superiority speech here, but I think the 7th gen appeals to many younger folks because it looks a bit tuned-up out of the factory, with the scoop on the hood and the optional TRD wing. The 6th gen looks a bit tame in comparison. Both have their goods and bads though, but everyone knows which one I prefer. biggrin.gif

7GC are definitely more popular due to its power out of the box (GTS), aftermarket support, aggresive looks (to some), and prices for 00-01s are very close to 98-99 GTs. 6GC just hold their damn value too much IMO (Can never find a cheap one...)

6GC can go fast with the requirement of 5000+ put in it... aka, swap or F/I

iunno about how 7th gen is treated there in the us. but here i would bet that if you put both side by side and ask guys which they prefer, i can tell you almost 90% will say the 6th gen. why? because the newer celicas, apparently, is a "grly" car. i honestly dont know what the hell they're talking about.. they dont look girly to me. but i DO prefer the 6gc looks at least

Girl cars? Ive had both plus the 5gc. All are girl cars.

nics, no hate. 6gc are fun cars, did more autocrossing in my ST than in my GTS. Just getting tired of the "talk" about 7gc are nothing but young folks/haters of the older gens.

i missed that part. bad habit of skimming. i think it should say "For all the 7th Celica gen owners and Toyota Enthusiast NewCelica.org is hosting a 7th gen Celica and friends meet."

all celica's are "girl cars"... lol. 7gc owners have respect for earlier models! the 7th gen doesn't have the gt4 to look up too. all they have to look up to i the 2zz. its a nice engine, but they realize the 3s is a monster! if anything i think we "hate" on them too much.

What's with all of the 7th gen hating? If we weren't invited to the meet, then they probably wouldn't have posted it here right? He also said in his 2nd post that this was not a 7th gen celica only meet. All Celicas are welcome to attend. They were nice enough to invite other Generation Celicas to this meet, and it's not the first time they've invited us to one of their meets. How often do we invite 7gc owners to our 6gc meets? So to get this thread back on track..

I am going to go ahead and put myself down as Attending.

They are currently still discussing the date and location of the meet. If there are any further updates, I will try to post them up in this thread to make it easier for everyone.
