What is everyone using for dash cams? Was thinking about a Garmin OR VanTrue.

Not going to use it for every day just for long trips so I can get a time lapse.
My thoughts:
-Garmin more expensive but maybe better made?
-VanTrue better choice since I'm not going to use it everyday.
-view angle, 120° or whatever, which might be better, is bigger always better?
-I don't need wifi or GPS on it
-something with good video quality

I dunno. I've just always been a fan of time-lapse videos, & I plan on a long road trip this fall so thought it'd be cool to do that.

I'm using a Street Guardian model, the files look good off the cam but youtube poops them up with their compression ontop of the camera's H264 it does on the fly. Image quality is good enough to pick out plates even in poorer lighting conditions. 2k and 4k are getting better but usually lack low light quality, tons of youtube videos on different cams, look around, there's even a forum called dashcam talk.

Franticaly assemble car in time for the meet

Oh wow, still not done?

WELL..... we just thawed out last week so.... yeah. This winter has been a long one. that, and the wife went photo crazy and trip crazy. 3 out of 6 weekends were photoshoots. the other 3 were trips/concerts etc. Temps are gonna be up in the 50s this week so I'll be out there finally.

Toyota dealer wants $29/gallon for red coolant. Anyone know of a cheaper source? I haven't done a ton of research yet.

Beck/Arnley is what we use at the shop for colored Asian coolants, but I don't know if they're any cheaper at retail pricing. You might find that Pink is cheaper, it's OK to mix pink and red, just it'll be more like a red life time until it's an all pink system if you're mixing them together but lets be honest, Toyota pink and red are both 100,000 mile coolants anyway so as long as it stays in the engine you're only changing it out 2-10 times in the lifetime of the car anyway.

Thank you for the recommendation. I just found out that my dad has a couple of gallons laying around that he's going to give to me. smile.gif

I'm going to be changing the time belt out on the ES330 and spark plugs.

Fun, some of the V6's you need to pull the cam sprocket to clear off a steel plate that blocks part of the water pump. I can't recall if the 3MZ does or does not have that.

That's correct - I'm going to replace the cam seals too while I'm in there. I want to make it good for another 90K miles.

Buy one of these, they're excellent at holding the cam shaft when you zap the sprocket bolt out and hold them nicely when torquing it back down to spec.

The smaller sizes are amazing for flare fittings, they fit any size even the between sizes and are much less likely to slip and round than standard vice grips. I have a large pipe I can slip over the handle of the 10LW for when I need to put the beans to something like a tierod nut.

Oh snap!!

I know right.

I'll wait for a weather forecast to see if I'll bring a grill. But thinking firewood is a great idea.

Stacy and I bought a grill topper thing, so we can stop using the aluminum foil.

Don't worry about the grill.

I have enough space to haul it. Just if it's going to be crap weather I doubt people are going to want to hang outside.
