So I have a 94 Celica GT with a fourth GEN 3S GTE swap. My car topped out today at about 120-ish in fifth gear with plenty of RPMs left to go. Is there a speed limiter chip somewhere in the car or in the engine that I am unaware of?

Any help as always is appreciate.

Thanks,

-Trevor

JDM ECU's limit to 180 km/h or 112 mph. There's a way of tricking it into make it 180 mph, it's been discussed here before somewhere. Should have stopped at 112, so something is either off with tire size or final ratio.

Also I hope this is on a track, as to do such on public roads would be incredibly irresponsible and inconsiderate of the lives around you.

It was a closed private road that I was given permission to test it out on.

Must be something off then. Cause I've topped out at 115 in fourth gear. So if anyone has any input or the link to the thread about tricking the ecu that would really help.

From what I remember it has to do with a mph to km/h converter and then your km/h is really mph, or something to that effect. Easiest thing would probably be to get a HKS Speed Limit Defencer.

This it really weird. I have yet to hit the limiter on my swap. I got it as a Jdm clip and have done full 4th gear runs on the dyno at my shop hitting 130mph at 7,000 rpm and it never stopped me. I know my old 7a would stop me at 115mph.
