Started this thread for all discussions not involving the Celica, or it can involve the Celica I suppose. This way you can talk about ANYTHING that has happened during your day that you'd like to share with everyone. Had a bad day at work, share. Bought an awesome pet rock, share. Found the best new noms ever, share. Did something to your other car, share. Anything that makes me embarrassed, awkward, and makes me turn red in general, keep to yourself.

again, I would have loved to see them make the Solstice as a quality car instead of a half-assed POS. it is a quality car...... when you toss a 2JZ into it.... I think you mean LS. ![]() Well, I would say LS, but from what I understand, the 5-spd gear box in the solstice is an Aisin unit and bolts up to the 2JZ perfectly and I think the motor mounts do as well. Read up on this about a year ago or so, so I'm not sure if my memory is serving me correctly right now. -------------------- -Alex {](O_o)[}

Allegedly the Solstice trans is just a renamed R154, but having driven both I can confidently say that the gear ratios are different. The Solstice was just garbage. I'm astonished any 2JZ swappers have used the Solstice trans and actually put power through it.

Hmm, interesting.
Pretty much the only domestics I have any faith in are RWD with a V8. Though the cars with the 3800 V6 weren't bad. I always thought if GM took the V6 and 5-speed from the F-body and put it into a car about the size and weight of the 240SX they'd have had a winner. Just in the F-body platform it's kind of pointless. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

From the factory the Fiero was pretty much not good. The only good year was the last, go figure, since it had a proper suspension on it. Even then the V6 was pretty weak. The '88 GT with a LS would be a blast though.
So there's a nice Miata with everything I was looking for, go figure. I just hope this Trans Am is as nice as he says since I'm holding off for it... -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

The water cooled alternator?
Those things are a tight fit, they shoehorned that engine and accessories in there. Try doing the coolant pipes that run around the back of the engine, even less fun. -------------------- |

At least with the F-body the engine being tucked under the cowl was for better weight distribution, not so sure about the Caddy.

Today I drove Focus ST. It was pretty nice and quick. I'm actually excited for the next generation of FoST, the one that will get the mustang engine. I don't know if that's actually true, but Ford should totally do that. -------------------- Brand new 6gc owner! (sort of 2011)

bought my first actual Shun 8" Chef's knife today. Wasn't really planning to buy it, but I was egged on to go ahead and get it since it was on sale. Now I just need to get some whetstones and some kind of sheath or carrying case for the knife. Others will join it soon.

beh, for most of the stuff you do at home you just need a steel. You'll hardly ever need to actually sharpen it.

Depends what you're cutting and what you're cutting on. A steel will only raise a slightly folded edge, not repair a flatted one.

For a quick but effective sharpen I have the little smith and wesson sharpener. Costs like 10 bucks, but it makes a faded edge sharp again.

Well at some point someone will flat the knife against the counter or a plate. It's good to have a decent fine stone around to resharpen.
