So...I heard from a fellow mechanic buddy that it would be a worthwhile mod to take a leaf blower (literally) and mod it to fit your car. It would force air into the air intake and would be a noticeable gain. Is this for real???

sounds doable, but retarded.

yeah, what I thought too. I would never attempt to disgrace my car in that way, I was just not really believing it.

there are people out there who use shop vac's wet/dry on the blow setting to force air into there factory intake airbox assembly.

Would you drive around with a cardboard spoiler?... ask yourself that

I actually Had the same idea a few years back, but I used a 1.5 hp shop vac. I removed everything but the motor housing hooked a intake pipe to it With a cone filter connected to my tb. It was in a pontiac grand am with a 2.4l engine. This was before I got my celica, but I had it on the car for 2 days or so. Did see a big difference in power and It was more responsive than before. But It was a daily driver and I did not know how bad it was hurting my engine so I removed it. I did a awsome burn out with it on and the car did not do that before But yea it worked. Got the idea from one of those electric turbos on ebay. I just wanted more air flow so I used a bigger motor which was in the shop vac. The shop vac was shaped similar to a turbo.

You should do it, but use the heater fan blower motor so you could have a boost control
already mounted on the dash.

I thought of this a while back, and hooking up the leaf blower directly to a gas line. So that it can run off your fuel. The only problem is designing something to start the blower every time.
