It does have JDM tails just not the 2nd gen. Its a 95 that was before the 2nd gen tails came out. Also 95 didn't come with projectors either so it also has JDM headlights. I don't think that hey came with splitters and sides either.

Hmm, yep Queensland Australia plate on the rear - according to matt86sx in the celica.net offtopic forum:
"The license plate on the front looks to be a Targa Tasmania competitors plate, so maybe it has seen some action in that rally? (The TT is an annual rally held on closed roads in Tasmania)."
Looking at the info plate in the engine bay it is a standard ST205, destined for the domestic (japanese market) - not the australian market, its in its orignal exterior colour of Renaissance Red (3L2). The 1998 means 1998cc (2L). And they are the JDM pre-facelift tail lights, since the orange lens wraps completely around the side (no red US side maker).
IMHO it seems a bit shady - if they were New Zealand plates, then maybe, since huge amounts of JDM cars are imported into NZ every year (including some ST205s) but the Australia market is very tightly controlled to protect their locally made brands (Ford, Holden (GM) etc) - only a very small amount of new ST205s ever made it into Australia.
Japanese Market Car, Australian Plates, for sale in the US, it's certainly well travelled

not to be a total prude, but when are people going to wake up and realize that its almost 98% IMPOSSIBLE to make a car not sold on our shores after 1973 streel leagl??? US laws states that if the car is built in or after 1968 it has to make federal saftey laws of that time period (not so hard), and if built in or after 1973 it has to make emissions laws as well... FOR REAL PEOPLE if it were SOOO easy to make the mods to a car to make it US legal why arent we seeing more non us vehicles on our roads? and when i say more im talking about the average joe who makes a good salary of $150,000 per year who loves porsche 911 carerra RS's and now that he is 45 and has a lil $$$ he decides to find one from europe and make it street legal... AKA YOU NEVER SEE THIS except for mabey 1000 super rich americans who decide to have motorex import a skyline or evo here and have THEM make it legal... I get SOO sick of this debate- you honest to god think that if this car COULD be street legal that the guy selling it would practically give away a GT4 with 50,000 miles for 13,800??? a celica GT that has the same miles thats a 95 could go for 7500-8500... lets get a grip on realiy people....

It's a celica gt-4, the following is not the same as a skyline/evo. Trust me it can be done with the proper connections and has been done, I've seen two skylines import privately (not through motorrex, btw normal average joes ) and 2 mini coopers. Also as stated there are already gt-4's state side one is owned by a member of the board, ( i forget his name but it's white and he's from indiana i think), One suppose to be in tacoma wa, and 2 in upstate new york (new albany area) those two i've seen personally. Also the "original" importer truejigga has a evo Vii that he himself imported and legalized. There are plenty of companys out there, one based in florida that are willing to import these cars whole and complete, But after you pay them you take on the task of legalizing it, which i know can be done in kentucky atleast for around 1,200 and three months of waiting. Now if you lived in a state up-tight as like cal. then i can see where it can't be done, But not everyone needs to meet state emissions, And the crash test data is avab. from toyota.

so why do you have an st then?
Einhander
Jul 16, 2004 - 11:51 AM
College, Fiance, storage, etc etc the list goes on as to why i have a st. lol At one time i had the cash to pay 15 grand at once for a car, But now i am pretty much left to finace options, And no bank will give a 15 grand loan on a car they've never heard of.
