Does anyone know what type of gear box/tranny would be needed if one wanted to have a Automatic tranny for the 3SGTE swap?

yes it is possible. a 5th gen owner had it, but he only ran mid 15s at the track with it, so its not really worth all the effort just for that.

You could use a S-54 I think. I think the main problem lies in the fact that there's no Toyota ECU for a automatic 3S-GTE.

Edit: Just saw Lagos' post. Do you know what ECU he used for his project?

Caldina's 3S-GTE direct coil engine has auto tranny.... If you can get this engine there will be no problem with the ECU. wink.gif

he must have not had a worth while auto tranny.

level ten tranny with high stall converter, shift kit, fluid cooler, and the tranny controler would make for a great 1/4 mile setup

or he didnt really powerbrake it.
