Full Version: Baseline Dyno Results Today
6G Celicas Forums > 6th Generation Celica > Forced Induction

I went to the dyno today to get a baseline to compare my upcoming modifications (new turbo kit). To make a long story short, my car jumped the rollers and roasted a tire after the first pull. The dyno shop didn't charge me for the pull and is buying a replacement tire so all is good. Luckily, my rims that took 6 months to get did not get damaged. The car is fine except the tire.

Anyway, I will let you all guess my numbers just for fun.

Relevant mods:

2nd gen JDM 3sgte - ceramic ct26
5 angle valve job on otherwise stock head
huge FMIC
540 cc injectors with no aftermarket fuel control (JDM ECU)
2.5" mandrel bent exhast - secondary cat removed
stock primary cat
apexi intake
ebc at 14psi
4th gear pull

guess away at whp and ft/lbs of torque! I will post up the numbers later.
lagos
im going to guess at a ballpark of 225hp/tq

By the way, here's Tim's (boosted_K2) thread where he got his 3s dyno'ed with a ct20b for comparison....

Tim's dyno results

yah my guess would also be around 230whp/tq

did u go rich a lil' bit when u hit the higher rpms cuz of the 540cc injectors w/o any management?

off the scale rich after 6000 rpms. This will be addressed as well...

I have not bought the EMS but it is coming. I am buying an AEM. A GT28RS turbo will be installed very soon.
lagos
wait ..what prize do we win if we guess right?

edit: and mr2 turbos normally dyno about 20hp less then jdm swaps do with the same mods.
lagos
now i want to say 250 because no one really know whats done to your ecu and why you had 550cc injectors in there .

250whp with a ct26? Nah.
lagos
well you at least have to be in the 200-235 ball park at 14psi, or you have to have a massive boost leak or something.

he had a ct20b on a high milage usdm motor
nik
so what are the numbers

Awesome numbers. I was going to guess that if I had got here sooner.

Congrats man, sorry to hear about your tire. Get it to the strip before the new turbo.

Awesome job Jay biggrin.gif

Thanks Jeff. I was expecting low 200's for both figures so I was pleasantly surprised....

pretty good, but i think you could unlock a lot more power with a 3in downpipe and 3in exhaust

awesome #s Jay, must be extremely fun to drive bowdown.gif

Thanks Dustin. It is fun....but I am ready for a little upgrade biggrin.gif

Interestingly, I searched for the thread I started right after the swap was done. In that thread, I predicted whp at 220-230 and Tim (boosted2k) estimated 210-215. I guess he wins the cookie! (although I doubt he would have predicted the torque figure either)

My swap thread

holy crap jay ur pulling in some crazy torque! lol sweet! i think ud have pulled in higher HP numbers if u had some kinda tuning since ive read 3SGTE runs rich after 12 PSI. but damn bro real nice numbers! let me know how the AEM EMS is when u get it...im "curious" wink.gif

Will do. Just to let you know, I am not getting the AEM right away unless the new turbo dictates that I do so.
lagos
do you havea copy of the dyno sheet you can post up with an a/f ratio ?

Yea, but not in soft copy yet. The dyno operator is suppose to be emailing it to me.

And there are 60 days left in the year. What is your point?
vangSTa_celica
I thought you meant 2006. So from what you're saying then, is that your turbo project is already underway, or am I having a hard time comprehending English?

Definitely hard time comprehending English. Perhaps I could have stated it more clearly. Lets try this: my turbo project (and new exhaust) is not installed or underway yet. The exhaust components are obtained, however. The entire project will be complete by the end of the year.
vangSTa_celica
Ahhhhhhh. Me understand now. Back to cave.
nik
so what do you think you'll make on the new set up around 250-260 whp? and close to 290-300 torque?

My goals are a modest 280whp / 280ft/lbs at 17psi with 200 ft/lbs before 2900 RPMs.

My next project car will not have a lag issue.
jgreening
Here is the graph I got yesterday. The dyno operator told me he was going to email me the run files but he never did. This graph doesn't include the air/fuel ratio and was mapped against MPH rather than RPM's. 200 ft/lbs is reached right at 3000 RPMs.
