well, I'm not to sure that anyone has done the awd conversion, the one who seems to be the most interested in the awd conversion is gt2gt4, good luck

Check ToySport . They have a kit for the AWD conversion and can also supply the motor and everything you need.

Yeah and for a couple thousand more, they'll take ur arm, and leg.

yea the AWD conversion is possibly the hardest thing to do to a celica besides putting a 2jz in there.

you will need an ST205 front AND rear clip. thats the front and back of the car.

JARCO can get you those parts for 4500 plus shipping which is around 500 to Iowa from Georgia where they are located.

You will need a frame straightener to frame holder. Some people call it different things. You use that because you have to swap in the floor from the real GT-Four into your USDM celica. If you dont have that frame holder then the roof will wrinkle really bad because the floor is gone and the chassis will be more vunerable to flexing that it was before.

Also you have to swap in the gas tank as well. And on the GT-Four's trunk it is flat. That meaning that there is no spare tire well in there. so you have to cut out your trunk floor and the GT-Four's trunk floor and swap that too. If you dont then the rear differential will not fit.

After you do the floor and gas tank and trunk swap then its on to the hard stuff.

If you have Aol Instant Messanger contact Qatar11 (mike). Since the car that you will be doing this on is a USDM Left Hand Drive celica and the front cut that you get from Jarco will be a JDM Right Hand Drive Celica. Then you have to send you wire harness to someone to have them extend the wires and some other things so that it will plug into your USDM wire harness. E. L. Prototypes in Aruza California will do it for 1000 bucks. But Mike will do it for 450.

Then after that is done. Take out your engine, suspension, drivetrain, etc. And swap in everything from the GT-Four. Some people will say to just use the USDM axles but why? The GT-Four ones are way way way stronger than any USDM axles.

Any other questions just reply on here.

Yea, or you could just take the money from that and buy a Supra instead.
Matthew
supras are nice BUT. what about winter handling??

and how many people do you know that have an AWD 6th gen celica?? ever seen one in the states??

compare that to supras.

either way both will be very fast cars.

i'd rather have the original of the two, the AWD 6g...you don't see many of those over here biggrin.gif

what about winter driving? If im putting THAT much money into my car - i get a piece of garbage to drive around in. My car dont touch winter as it is now.

i thought it was only the trunk pan that had to be swapped in.

either way i hope mike takes lots of pics of that step.

as for using a frame holder, its a good idea but if i cut the floor out of my car, im not going to move it untill im done.

AWD is really not needed unless you really plan on going to rally events with your car (the intended purpose of the gt4, and the gt4 also includes tougher suspension I might add) on the street all awd is going to do is wiegh you down and decrease gas milage, ohh sure you might get a few fractions of a second better on the 1/4 but the gain might only be on the start and might be made up in the lighter 2wd option in midrange...
Matthew
well whats the average for a celica gt? like 16 secs or something completely stock

i have a vid of a ST205 racing a supra (both stock)

the GT-Four gets 13.8 i believe

the gt4 can definately carry its own weight
Matthew
ya i definitely agree

i would much rather have an AWD celica than a FWD one.

even though it weighs more...the handling is much better than FWD.

the starts are faster.

and some people say from a rolling start that the FWD will beat you...well i have raced some people in the eclipse and even going 35 or so when we start and i downshift it still peels out for a little bit. i guess at low power then it wouldnt do that but if you have a lot power the car will peel out all the time

then that goes to the price of tires.

so in the end AWD will pay for itself.

THANX A LOT FOR THE feedback. i guess it is feasible. need 10k? lol~~~ screw the supra man. i mean supra's are the supermachines i dun question dat. but celica awd. hm~~~ sweet~~~~ lite weight. good traction. ah~~~ juss the thought of it. plus i wont have to use my handbrake anymore when i go driftin~~~ hm~~~ sweet~~~ i luv my celica. it's aging. so it needs a facelift. i think im willing to the swap. this is thanx to the encouragement of the ppl here. thanx again guys
