Im replacing the studs on one of my cars (old ones got bent). How do I get the new to "thread" back into the hub? Ive heard of throwing a lug on the end and tightening it down, and that would pull the stud in from behind. When I tried that the stud just spun around (nothing holding it from behind). I tried to give it a bit of "grab" by hammering it in a bit, but it just popped out and spun around. There isnt enough room to hammer it in all the way from the back, because there is a metal shield that sits behind the hub.

No.

If you remove the hub you will need to replace your wheel bearing.

Are you trying with a ratchet?
That is probably why they are spinning. Usually a impact gun is used.
However, if you can get the splines on the stud to seat in the hub, you should be able to tighten it with a ratchet.
