ask ice23q @ http://www.6gc.net/members/ice23q (profile)

only person i know to have built a 5s-gte.

EDIT: i believe the distributer would depend on what year. because the 94-95 have an internal ignition coil whearas the 96-99 have an external. So if it is post 96 on the 3s and the 5s (assuming the 3s followed that rule) then they look pretty close. (judging by eye. i dont own one, but i've had my hands on one a few times)

You would use the 3S Distributer seeing as it's going to bolt to the 3S head and cams. There is a hell of alot more involved with this than you might think. I suggest doing all the reading you can on here by using the search feature then moving over to MR2oc and using the search feature there. Also read Ice23q's write up about what all he went through to go 5S-GTE and maybe you will get a feel for what all is involved

the best way to think of a 5sgte is a 3s swap, with a 5s crank and block.
it requires all the 3s stuff, and a 5s block and crank.
all the wiring, electronics ect need to be 3s stuff.

many of our MR2 guys run a 5sgte setup in the really high horsepower range. the 3s head will bolt to the 5s block but there is some slight modification required. there is a complete how-to on the OC where you can literally go step by step for a 5sgte swap. standalone engine management is REQUIRED

dude your on here too? haha
Punch
it pretty much a 3sgte swap.....
its alot of little parts needed to be swap from block to block...
