What do I have to do to do this right? Scratch the current coating so the new primer can stick good, then 2 coats and a quick clear? I want that flat black rally look but not a crappy job. I think I might paint my calipers too like a...what goes good with my white celica gt and black rims?

I'm also interested in a new hood (something with a scoop but an inverted one that releases air toward my windshield (pass side)....if anyone has good ideas and possibly pics for me to reference, it'd be appreciated. I got about $1800 to spend and it's raining.

I've painted my stock rims 3 times since ive had the car.

From experience my advice is this, sand all the wheels real good, go from medium to a finer grit. If you just do medium you'll have scratches in the paint.

Do at least 2 coats (preferably 3) of the color of your choice. Dont be afraid of clear coat. I used 5 coats each time. It gives your wheels a nice shiny look.

thanks for the tip, I like the flat black look though, not so shiny for me.
