I went the 5x114 route because not only did I plan on replacing everything, I wanted to make it easier for rotor replacement with my gt4 calipers.

New wheels, for now...

Rays Gram Lights 57c

Thank you! And yes powdercoat.

Because the powdercoat has a certain thickness to it, I didn't want to coat the inside for fear that the poly bushings would fail to go in properly. I was thinking about a few quick sprays with paint to help prevent rusting.
Tigawoods
scuff it some, then some clear coat maybe?
mandrek
WOW!!! love this!!! im just about to do the same to my own.. i have a parts car in western MD, and as soon as i get a few days ill be going up to strip all the parts i need for full prep (just like you did) for full poweder and all.. LOVE how this is looking!!!! keep up the great work!!! oh and the yeah, the 5x114.5 conversion is gaining some momentum for sure!! smile.gif
Batman722
I wouldn't worry about painting the inside.
The grease on the bushings will prevent rust.

Looks sweet mang.
mkernz22
nevermind, answered my own question haha
Fate
^ No worries.

Need to create some type of blocking plate for my MR2 E153 LSD. Does anyone have any tried and true suggestions - with photo? Would my best bet be to weld an aluminum plate? Thanks.

how about a big rubber plug. so its reversible. cant really weld, unless you remove componets, it will get pretty hot
HectortheRican
Just went through the last few years of work and I'm really impressed, man. I got a quick question for ya. When you got the Timken wheel bearings, did they come with all the proper seals or did you have to order them separately? I saw wheel seals on your part sheet, but I'm not doing a 5x114 conversion and I dunno if those seals are specifically for that.

I thought about a rubber plug, but was worried about leaks. Would have to get a really good snug fit, then maybe some sealer as extra precaution?

Thank you very much! The parts must be ordered separately. The wheel bearings and seals are the correct ones for both 5x100 and 5x114. So order with confidence.
Fate
Well I went to my local pool store to pick up some expandable rubber plugs and begin test fitting. I then went to McMaster-Carr and ordered the correct size in silicone as it can withstand higher temperatures. I imagine it will hold up better over time.

Nothing too crazy to update - inner/outer tie rods, rear sway, lightened flywheel, clutch and LSD transmission, installed. Will have the front end finally off jack stands by the end of the week, then to tackle the rear.

PHOTO DUMP:

Photo comparison of stock inner vs. Deeza brand tie rods. Very impressed with this company based out of Turkey, high quality.
