well thats good to hear. I wont have to worry about that now. I'm curious to find out what kind of LSD the trans has. I don't think it makes a difference anyway LSD is LSD which is better than no LSD. Just have to worry about auto to manual swap then engine swap and then emissions in CA.

Well I didn't get it with the auction so ill probably Buy the one on ebay for 100 bucks I don't know if any beams one will fit will it?
Rusty
Oct 11, 2009 - 4:14 PM
aslong as its off a ST202 will definitely fit, (though a pre-beams black face 3sge guage will work with additional wiring) But i recommend using the beams guage first (even if its just the rpm guage) since you dont want the reason why you cant get your engine running right, is due to a fault in wiring up a different guage.

well I know corollas and celica GT from 2000 and up had VVTI maybe its the same sensor? All the vehicles now have vvti... What about that one that they sent you that was supposed to be good, why doesn't it fit?
I'm thinking of changing the timing belt, maybe the water pump, maybe cam gears... I don't know what else or how much that would cost...

timing belt, tensioner, pully, water pump, thermostat, spark plugs, 02 sensor, check all the wiring to make sure there are no broken wires on any connectors, get flywheel resurfaced, get a clutch, ect...
erahman85
Oct 14, 2009 - 9:16 PM
wow this is going to add up...
Timing belt (HKS) probably about $200
Tensioner: ?
Water pump: probably another $150
Thermostat: $20
ok I'm too lazy to do the rest I'll just compile prices when I get the actual prices and part numbers. Guess what I got today though? here's a clue 81130-20050, 81170-20050... I really am getting too exited but this car is almost done!
I'm going to find all these maintenance parts and post part numbers and prices that I got. Maybe this will help the other two members doing the swap so we can compare prices...

well he reckons he got a 3sge blacktop sensor, and that it wont fit, so I can't reall. I still
might be able to get a lower price njccmd, though you can also blame the strong NZ vs US dollar.

Yeah u can most likely use the LSD from the Beams tranny and it will fit in the USDM s54 but that is not confirmed. What is confirmed is that you can drop in the LSD from an 02+ MR2 Spyder into the S54 and its a direct fit, "Urbandork" did it. I was going to do it but a new LSD is 1500 from toyota or if u can find a used mr2 tranny its about $900 average...

as far as removing the old motor, and installing the new one, they are exactly the same.
figuring out how to get the beams harness thru the firewall, and doing the wiring are the only diffrences.
everything mounts up the same way, in the same locations, as far as the motors are concerned.

the gt ac lines bolted up on dustin and steffs car, as well as the power steering.
the only vac lines that go from motor to chassis are the brake booster, and the charcole canister.
your mechanic is being shyed away by the fact you wanna install a motor that he has never seen or prolly heard of.
most normal, everyday mechanics would say the same things.
i never, ever recommend having a normal mechanic do these kind of motor swaps, it almost always turns out bad in one way or another.
