i need some knowledge regarding the fuel rail. ive bought an after market fuel pressure regulator for my turbo set up that im trying to do. i havent taken it apart yet because this is my daily driver for a while. so basicly i need to know what i can use to bolt up to the stock rail, or should i go aftermarket (if they make them for our car)??
bccentaur3
Remove stock fpr, thread new on in. If the threading is different get some lines and fittings to make it fit.
azn87
i know that but i need to know what fitting it is, so when i do take it apart im not stuck. like i said this is my daily driver

why did you get an FPR, you really dont need one on a basic 5sfte, unless your going all out.
unless its a bolt in affair (99.9% of the ones i've seen are not) your gonna need a bunch of fittings and lines to complete the install.

which FPR did you buy?
czwalga
Isn't it a banjo bolt/fitting? I know atleast on the fuel filter it is. What line are you planning on running from the fpr to the rail.
Smaay
the regulator screwes right into the rail and the return line comes out of teh regulator. the easy way to do this is take off the rail and take it to a speed shop that carries XRP fittings. just find the right fitting for teh rail and runa new line the the FPR, then a new line out of the regulator to the return line.
mkernz22
it's probably not a good idea to do this on a daily driver because changing out certain parts can take a couple days.

im not sure thats y im asking, so i know what im getting my self into before hand

ok googled what you have, your gonna have a couple ways you could set it up.

depends on what you want to do.

the fuel filter and rail are both 12X1.25 metric fittings.

you will need 6an to 12X1.25 fittings for the fuel filter and rail, 6an hose, and appropriate hose ends depending on where you locate the FPR.
im not sure on the return size for that particular one (it should say in the instructions) but a 4an push fit fitting with appropriate line, or the stock one depending on where you locate the FPR works perfectly for the return to the tank.

::edit::
looks like your also going to need a gauge to mount with it to set and monitor fuel pressure as well.

and again, just FYI, this stuff is all not needed for a 5sfte, your pretty much gonna spend a couple hundred getting this all setup, and complicate it with things that you dont really understand for no power gain at all.
azn87
But it work make it a lot easier for tuning right??
mkernz22
why do you need to tune the fuel?

if you're going to turbo it, it would be a lot more cost effective to get a 3sgte.
if you turbo the 5s why not just get an upgraded fuel pump?

he is not gonna tune the fuel but the air to fuel ratios and map setings for best performance and 0 knock

cost effective sure 3 is better but op chose a diff route

he obviously has to upgrade fuel pump as stock one will not suffice i think you are a bit confused about this thread he is taling about the fuel press reg

ok basicly im going to get walbro 255, 540 injectors, 3s manifold, custom down pipe, side mount intercooler, stand alone, 3s oil pan, an a couple of other things that i cant remember. when the time comes im going to do a rebule on the motor, with arp head studs, and head gasket, redo all the seals and maybe new valve springs, retainers and rockers
mkernz22
totally missed the regulator part.
azn87
because I've already got one. What I need to know is what size is the rail. I understand the the thread pitch is 12x1.25 but how big

you really need to step back, and research before you buy anything else.

the FPR is usless on a 5sfte.
you dont need to mess with your fuel pressure, your only gonna complicate your setup, and make a good spot for a fire to start.

540cc injectors will choke out a 5s on a stock ecu.
BTW, 3s injectors will not work on a 5s.
if you think a 5s has "rockers" you need to forget about turbos for now, and learn about your motor first.

good luck. im out.
azn87
im not using a 5s ecu, im getting a stand alone, and im also going to learn about the motor as i go along, i thought 6gc was a place to help each other. people are right, people are dicks

manny's (pressure2) knows what he's talking about. he knows this sh!t like the back of his hand.
they're trying to help you by telling you one thing and you're disregarding it.

Edit: Sorry if I sound like an dick.
Whenever you ask people for help or a decision about something, you are always going to get positive and negative feedback from people.
You just have to take it all it, consider your options, and make the decision based off how you feel.

most ppl who ask for help want there whole swap/ build to be done by others on here and dont read one sticky dont search ever u never mentioned u were going stand alone are others supposed to guess what u are and arent going to do with your build he wasnt being a dick just saying the truth if you dont know what you are getting yourself into research it first it will save you massive headaches no need to start crap for no reason

im sorry, i thought i did a pretty good job of helping you, pretty much told you exactly what you need to install the FPR that you dont need, and gave you advice from someone who has "been there, done that"

have fun blowing up your 5s.

is that better?

:edit:

mike, dont talk about what i will or will not do. there is no need for it.
