First I would check all the fuses, you might have blown one replacing the distributor. If this is the 94 GT of yours, then the camshaft/crankshaft position sensor is located inside the distributor. If you have a warranty you could try taking it back.
Other things to check-
After rebuilds the ground strap from the ECU to the back of the intake manifold is sometimes left off. To verify that your ECU is functioning put the keys into the ignition and turn the key to the ON position. Your warning lights on the instrument cluster will now illuminate, and the check engine light should come on and stay illuminated until the engine is running or the key is turned off if it is infact receiving power.
Another component of the ignition system is the ignitor, it is located on the driverside firewall above the brakebooster. It is a small silver box, check that it is plugged in and doesnt smell burnt.
Now doublecheck the two wires on the distributor. One four wire plug for the cranksensor is on the top front of the distributor, another two wire plug for the coil is located on the backside of the distributor between it and the Throttlebody.
You can also check that the coil is receiving power. With the key in the on position remove the two wire plug on the backside of the distributor, and insert the test leads of your multimeter into the two contacts on the plug(the dangling wire not the distributor side plug), you should see 12.4-12.7 volts DC
There are some more specific tests for the distributor, detailed in your shop manual.
On a side note was the vehicle running, did you actually pull a spark plug wire and insert an old sparkplug or screwdriver and hold it to ground to watch for sparks? Is there a possibility that the timing belt broke?
Anyways, let us know. The more information you can give us the better we can help you
